L. Hunt Your video was very good and easy to understand. The clutch was very easy to repair. The small drive belt had broken, but I replaced both belts. Total cost of repair about $4.00 Thank you very much.

Your video tutorials are fantastic! I just recently purchased a Dyson DC07 All Floor at a garage sale for $6.00 U.S. I replaced the (broken) external hose as well as replaced both the HEPA and washable filters, and gave the vacuum a good cleaning inside and out. Works like a charm!! Total Investment: $35.00 U.S. including the purchase price of the vacuum and replacement parts Cheers from the U.S.!! :)

Great video. To pop the circlip back on more easily, drop it over the end of the shaft and press it with a 10mm socket. It will open up over the tapered shaft and click in place.

Thank you Alec, I changed both clutch belts and my Dyson that is 6 years old is working better than ever. It was a little difficult but it saved me a lot of money. Great Job!!
@KJHansJr11 жыл бұрын
Great to the point video ! One thing I would like to add is, when you are removing the clip on the end of the shaft, get a second set of hands to help if you can. Have the second person hold the clutch and push up from the opposite end of the shaft to relieve some pressure that is being put on the clip, and this will also help the shaft from wanting to turn as you work the clip off.

@EnvixityXx3634 жыл бұрын
Very clear instructions!! I followed everything correctly! One thing though, there's a little circular metal thing that little securing clip that rest on, it came out on my DC14. I didn't know where to put it in the beginning because it wasn't on your video but I figured it out. Aside from that little thing this video is near perfect! But thank you so much for this!!

Thingies and parts. You can't get away with that in text instructions but in a video it's as technical as it needs to be, hahahahaha! Excellent video! UPDATE - yup I've just replaced both belts in my clutch, really glad I was able to do so because the old ones had stretched to twice the length of the new ones, yikes! Luckily my white roller was still in excellent condition but amazingly you can still buy the white rollers as a separate item otherwise it would be a complete new clutch.

@andrewgabriel705210 жыл бұрын
Replace the second belt (motor belt), reinstall the clutch plates, and screw the end cover back on before trying to refit the circlip. Then the shaft is firmly held in the right position anyway and you don't need to balance it all on a small object to hold it in place. Makes it somewhat easier.

Alex, terrific instructions. Completed a clutch replacement - no probs EXCEPT - the brush bar does not revolve when the machine is switched on, even though it's free and revolves with use of the hand. I further noted that although the motor drive is rotating and the drive belt running perfectly - the white coloured clutch extension for the brush drive does not rotate when the power is switched on. Dyson say I have to have a techy at £90 a visit! Help PLEASE. Tug

@mrfester429 жыл бұрын
You say that you're not technical because you don't know the name of some of the parts. If you're good at fixing things, then you're technical. Knowing the names of parts is not so important. I'm very good at fixing stuff as well but I'm watching the video because espares posted a video saying that the larger belt of the two can't be replaced and if it breaks or is stretched, the whole clutch needs replacement. I don't need to replace mine but seeing your video on a search list I thought I'd check it out for the future. Great video mate! I'm an American so it's kinda funny saying mate but hey... when in Rome. (There's something about you Aussies that seems very "American" to me!

very good vid and good for you for getting that C clip out with the chopstick method which i had to resort to when the cheap Harbor Freight pliers didnt get into it at all------glad i removed it in the bathroom with the door shut and the drain plugged as i know now why many now call it a Jesus clip-------------------no normal vacuum homeowner would even attempt a belt replacement cause of that C clip------------absolutely horrible Dyson forces people to buy a new clutch assembly to change a belt----would never again buy another cause of this----------great job!

My 2c. If u have had it for a long time. Take his advise from the begining. Just spend the duckies to buy a whole new part (Whole Clutch). I bought the belts. Took it apart on a clean mat and realized several things were worn down (the plastic spindle looked burned). Also I had thought maybe i was careless and lost a piece, But one ball bearing was missing. Had it for a while and should have realized with all the abuse, parts would be worn. I Noticed even the housing clip was just a nub and difficult to close.. I chose to buy the clutch as tho even if it would work...How long would it last before i have to tear it down again. Got time on ur hands, sure, But when ur busy. Annoying Times fellas! Hope everyone fares better. TY for the VID

One little suggestion, if I might! When replacing plastic screws (plastic screws aren't made of plastic but are screwed into plastic!) NEVER use a drill or electric screw driver because it's very easy to drive the screws in too tightly which reams out and chews up the plastic and then they will never hold again.
