For not listening to those people telling you painting and creating is useless, for we won't be here today watching some fine art and learning beautiful things. Those are the most aesthetical and calming videos on youtube. Thanks for sharing all of this with us for all the love and amazing paintings. Have a beautiful day and take great care of you!

You are the friend I never knew I needed. So much soul and so much honesty. Your childhood pain, people telling you to just stop being sad... All these things have had me crying since I was 5 years old. I'm 40 now, learning to draw and paint even though I can do neither, and I'm already worried about it... I find your videos calming, reassuring and giving me the love I didn't know I missed. Thank you so much ❤️

I stress about how perfect or not things look when I paint or draw so I don't enjoy it. Somehow my husband has cultivated the skill of painting just for enjoyment and the process. He gets much more out of it and does it more often. I'm trying to learn this... to do hobbies because I enjoy them not for the end product. I hope you can love your drawing and painting just for the process and the release they give. Sending love ❤️

@@jessamine486Watercolour painting is a wonderful way to relax and be creative but, I agree, at the start most painters find it very difficult to ‘Let Go’ we all have that fear to just let our brush do the work and enjoy the moment. We worry too much about ruining paper, wasting paint and worst of all “Saying in our heads ‘I am rubbish I can not paint’ Once you have the skills and it all sinks in, it does take time but you will relax and Let Go’. When this happens, I wish you many happy years of painting. ✏️🎨🖍️

Something people say to console someone is " you're never alone" but I never really believed that. I felt so isolated and strange in my struggle, like no one could truly understand me. But now I have come to resize that it is true, we really aren't ever alone. There's always at least someone out there who feels and thinks and struggles the same as us. We just haven't met them yet. I hope you will remember that you aren't alone. I see you and I love you, truly❤

Commenting the second time - your videos leave me speechless and to me that is the real purpose of art to leave people wordless, so they sit in silence to think deeper into what was said or done. Personality is definitely not fixed, it's malleable. Personality is all the thoughts and feelings you believed and accepted during your lifetime and now call your own. You identified with them. As you grow up, you might start to question everything and decide to want to change. This journey is amazing and it's very well worth your effort. You discover that you are not your personality and you can choose different ideas and thoughts, ones that appeal to you much more than those which you originally identified with without question because you were small and the adults were big and smart. You can become who you want to be. You can be inspired by people you look up to. You can literally create yourself.

We are firm believers in the healing, sustaining power of making art. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your story! There are many artists self-directing their education who should hear this. Making art is something that every person can learn to do, but each of us has to give ourselves permission to devote time and resources to art. It's an essential self-care activity, and builds skills that improve so many other endeavors!

I was listening to a podcast that said, “it’s important to live life by design rather than emotion. Basically, sticking to a routine is what allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves (especially when you're fighting these demons ex. OCD for me). I made the most productive changes in my life when I began practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 40-60% effort into my habits (ex. journaling/working out) - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my youtube channel. I hoping once I got the basics of taking care of myself and I can start to nurture the artist within me with the same sort of practise. And for someone like me who has been struggling with their mental health, progress feels so slow - its really inspiring to know someone who was at the same place and later grew into a calm, confident and artistic person.

That’s good to hear. I’ve been working out and it has helped my mental health, lifting weights is what I do. As for the artist in me I’m still missing that part. I’m missing the routine and consistency. Also where do I began to learn art as a beginner. I don’t want to make hyper realistic art, I want to learn composition etc. I do think it can be a form of therapy. Like working out is.

I am just speaking for myself. But I am grateful for the human spirit, that morning you awake and say to yourself "sort yourself out, what do you want? Work hard it's worth it". I have belief in good people. You are good people. But there is a lot of negativity around. I am thrilled to see so many subscribed. So many comments. Valerie you are a living example to us all. I commented on some or one (not sure anymore) of your previous videos and I just remembered something: My parents weren't sure if they wanted to call me Vanessa or Valerie as a child :D It's a funny coincidence but seeing you paint makes me think that in another life, I might live the way you do since I really love creating art. Seeing you say that I can become the master of my own mind does give me hope. I probably said this already, but I suffer from schizophrenia, which is a very serious mental illness. It might be hereditary, but not only. I'm currently living just fine with taking medicine daily, but I do question and hope there will be a day I can live without meds, but I am not sure if that day will come. What your mom said to you sounds very hurtful. My parents don't support me creating art, so I kind of stopped doing it as a result, even though I used to be extremely creative before my illness hit and I was hospitalized. Even though I don't create anything currently, I definitely haven't given up on it. Art is kind of a reflection of your soul, that's why it's so precious.

You have such a lovely soul with a beautiful mind and thoughts. To answer you question, i definitely think that you can become everything you want, your mind is the limit, the more you think about the idol human you want to be, the closer you get to actually becoming and being that human. We humans don’t understand how powerful our mind is and how blessed we are compared to every other creation.

This is a masterpiece of a video. Scratch that, this is a masterpiece of a film.👏 I felt so much of what you talked about. Your point of maintaining pillars of belief, and guarding your own thoughts; so beautiful and important.💖 I've only found your channel a few months ago, but I find myself excitedly awaiting the new vid every month. I think the time in-between them is perfect, it gives me time to really absorb all of your messaging.😊 The articulation of your perspective on life is so engaging and thought provoking and, this time, exceptionally emotional. Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your stories, gorgeous cinematography, and amazing artwork!🙏💕

Sewing is very precious to me. It got me through some lonely times and happy ones. But recently, I am venturing into filming and nature. Even looking for enchantment. The shift was very unexpected and I feel more freedom within myself. My disposition has become more sunny. I indeed feel like a different me, wuth a more forward and active personality

I experienced something similar where I spent many years only making art that expressed the rock bottom, darkest emotions I was in at the time, only to later feel like doing so had stopped helping me and was contributing to staying in that dark place. I changed what I made art of, but I didn't quite have the realization about making art of what you *want* in your life, or in your mind. I think I did that to some degree, but hearing it said out loud makes me want to consciously make art with that attitude. I used to be so sunshiney and bubbly in my creations and also felt others look down on me for it, eventually absorbing their views. In fact there is still a part of me watching this video that feels skeptical. But I think that is a sign that I need a change. Thank you for your thoughtful, gentle encouragement!

I'm coming in at like 7 minutes (I'm in college doing something really quick so I can't finish the video) but I'm sorry about what you went through and am glad art gave you a release. IMHO, a personality represents a person’s default way of viewing and responding to the world around them. Sort of like a wind that blows us in a certain direction if we don’t fight it. Some winds are good and some are not. You’re an old soul, Valerie. That a pretty cool thing, in my opinion. :) BTW, I still have my rocking horse!

I just also have to make another comment, it's regarding art school. I got into public art school as well, in a dark time in my life, and I would probably have indulged in those bad feelings. We did no learn any art theory / classic art theory what so ever. It was mostly modern art, so it was not a good place for me to be. I'm so happy I dropped out of art school after the first year! It probably did help me regain a good sense of stability :D What would become of me, I don't know but I probably would be depressed. I know it's my job to take responsibility for my learning, but I'm not really skilled in any art so it's crazy they let me in art school in first place. I wonder how many people like you who are interested in classic art, actually are in public art school. It seems to be like a trend within modern art to make very personal but abstract "art pieces." Hmm, I don't know.

Honestly Valerie I am so relieved to see that someone is there out in the world who thinks like me. I love drawing and writing. I told people i wanted to spend my life with art. All i met with were faces full of disappointment. They tried to make me feel downtrodden, even going as far as to say that you don't care about your parents and you are choosing the easy path so you don't have to think about them. Literally it almost got to me. But then i remembered that their saying won't change my feelings about my parents. I love them and I'll always love them. But then what about me? I have myself also to think about. This thought has kept me grounded all these years. Sure you can change metal into gold! But instead of having gold to support gold why not have nothing and create gold out of nothing?!
