We are not a people.that live on balance. We swing that pendulum hard to one side or the other. Could it be that racism is still live and that it is also getting better. Could it also be that some bias exist but not the majority. I cannot accept that there is no bias, because I am Black and I have black friends and WE have internalized bias. There's a professor I worked with at college and I volunteered in one of the experiments his RAs were conducting, to us the results made perfect sense, using behavior you can tell the race, gender, age, etc. about people without knowing anything about them personally. The research was purely on behavior in using a computer. How fast you type, how many mistakes you make, things like that. And the conclusions were undebatable. Yet they were all terrified of publishing the results because a lot of woke people were offended by the fact you have demonstrable differences between people based on all those attributes

The government exacerbated the problem by incentvising reliance on the government (this being just one example). This generated a litany of new issues that created its own disparities. Obviously, politicians realized they could weaponize these issues and align them with moral virtue, creating a dichotomy which doesn't encourage open dialog, but division. Academia is extremely competitive, has bad pay, and is extremely difficult. People are typically attracted to it only because of their obsession with the truth, and this has been commensurate with my experiences. This story reminds me of a Canadian study I heard reported on back in 1980, it looked to prove the propaganda line that “smokers cost the Canadian government more money, for healthcare, than non-smokers.” But the study found that smokers actually didn’t run up higher healthcare costs, as they tend to die younger, and most of the cost in the Canadian system went to caring for the elderly for the last few years of their life. Not surprisingly the results weren’t welcome, as they study was done to justify further increasing taxes of tobacco, and the day after hearing that report the study literally disappeared and never heard of again.

I'm a firm believer that racism was created by politics and is continuously promoted by government that isn't just about blacks and whites. Example is when the British military landed here and started taking the different Indian tribes lands they had no right to do while telling settler's Indians are their enemies, needs to be elemenated or controlled, put in reservations, etc. Forcing their desires and themselves upon people who didn't want it. Sound familiar? Looking at history this method has been used and modified throughout its entirety by ALL who had powers and governments! This is why our forefathers did what they felt would stop this when creating America and many other things they knew about that the people didn't. Ever wonder why they wrote the Constitution the way they did...
