Vampire Survivors is an action roguelike game developed and published by indie developer poncle. The game was originally coded using HTML5 and was released on itch.io as a browser game for free on March 31, 2021. Nine months later, the game was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows under early access for $2.99 on December 17, 2021, then it had a price change to $4.99 on September 22, 2022, and shortly after, the 1.0 release of the game was out on October 20, 2022.

You forgot to mention the funniest interaction of the amogus dlc: in co-op mode if a player dies and a player holding the report (or meeting) walks over the dead teammate it will report its death, amogus animation and all. For some reason it broke me and i dissolved into a mess

This is the one game where I've purposefully bought the sound track because I wanted to listen to the music. A lot of them sound like they came from Final Fantasy, Zelda or any other beloved AAA series.

something i like about evolutions is how (most) combinations are "logical" - e.g. the king bible benefits from duration and you can notice that early on, so of course you'd take the spellbinder and possibly accidently your way into the evolution for it. it's kinda neat, and i love when games do that with their systems (whether it be crafting or something else).

Even funnier fact, idk how well it translates to english but in the italian version most things are puns or jokes or references that are heavily focused on italy. For instance the first bonus stage being called "il molise" and has the level description of a land that doesn't exist, which is a joke on the italian region of molise which everyone jokes about not existing (like wyoming for the states). Also several character names are misspelled italian expressions, like poe ratcho (the old man with the garlic) =poraccio which kinda means "poor guy", she-moon eeta (the ice lady with the spear) =scimunita=dumbass, and my favourite reference which is christine davain (the one who starts with the pentagram)= cristina d'avena, which is an italian singer known for singing every localized anime opening (she did pokemon, one piece, and basically every other show which in the US was handled by 4 kids) which is fitting since the pentagram's evolution is basically a sailor moon transformation.

I think what I like the most about it is the fact it's helped spawn an entire genre of these games and they all blatantly steal from each other to make the games better as a collective. I think it's possible VS wouldn't have weapon combinations if Holo-cure didn't do it first, likewise I wouldn't be surprised if Holo-cure got a co op update in the future or if VS incorporated a Holo-House-like feature.

Another GREAT feature is the LOCAL co-op mode. No internet connection needed, no "all participants must own the DLC", no mandatory anti-cheat program. Just straight up more player on the same computer playing the same game. There are a lot of other games that had this option or a made around this option (ex: Wizard of Legend), but this game had the opportunity to nickel and dime us to oblivion for the multiplayer, but it did not. The option was just added as if it was always there.

What is incredibly funny is that the dev is Italian, and most if not all things in the game are Italian puns and/or references. Poe Raccio sounds like "Poraccio" or "poveraccio" which mean "poor wretch"! Lama Ladonna is a combination of "la Madonna" (saint Mary in italian) which is used as a exclamation of surprise, and "Lama" which means "blade", same goes for the other characters with that surname but they get different meanings as well! Arca Ladonna is "Arcamadonna" which is used as a cuss word and Porta Ladonna is "Porcamadonna" which is also a cuss word and is infinitely funny to me. It will take ages to list them all, because also most items and weapon are puns or reference too! King Bible in italian is "Re Bibbia" and Rebibbia is a prison in Rome. Gatti Amari is a mispronunciation of "Cazzi Amari" which is a cuss you say when someone fucked up and shit is gonna go down. There are so many I wouldn't have the time to write them all here AND THE STAGES TOO!!! Fucking Il Molise is empty because there is a joke about the Molise region that says that it doesn't exist! AND THE MUSIC OF THAT STAGE IS LITERALLY "FUNICULI FUNICULA" (mini spoiler for final boss underneat) *THE FINAL BOSS OF THE GAME NAME IS A REFENCE TO FANTOZZI!* I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SILLY LITTLE GAME!

One of the first level 2 runs I get the garlic fellow, and before I know it, I've got upgraded garlic, and I'm level 30.
