Vans are to junkyards what garden sheds are to back yards. You never know what treasure is stored inside. Watch as Steve discovers an ultra-rare Pontiac GTO brake drum, an alternate source for Mopar Super Stock bucket seats and proves GM wasn’t the only carmaker to offer rubber wheels. Rubber wheels? You have to see it to believe it.

I love watching this videos. It's like listening to a college professor who has a degree in advance cars knowledge. But he can relate to you in a normal way. I think the other thing is in this day and age there's no political bias, name calling or Cutthroat skullduggery. Just straight information about cars. Maybe we can all get behind this movement and come back together, okay it was just a thought man.

Hello William Sample and JLange642, Thanks for watching and writing. I'm not much aware of the political stuff that's going on - and has been going on since 1776! The fact is (and I like to say) "somebody has to run the joint and I'm glad it's not me". Politics and politicians may be easy to scrutinize and complain about but in the end, the world keeps turning. I do feel that we live in the BEST place to live on this globe. We have running water, we have an amazing Interstate highway system, we can jump in a jet plane and cross the nation in less time than our great grand fathers could have ever dreamed and we mostly get along with each other. I see the WONDER and GREATNESS of this world and try not to waste much time hassling over the speed bumps. Every day is a gift and I'm thrilled and thankful for the engineers, assembly line workers, car salesmen and Decision Makers who produced the thousands of different vehicles I get to explore in these Junkyard Crawl videos. The amazing thing is, if I do this for the next 50 years, I'll never cover all of what's been constructed in the name of personal transportation! Anyhoo, THANKS for writing. -Steve Magnante

I remember those Monte Carlos with them rims...had a guy come into the shop wanting to sell his Monte for 50$. Said he was tired if putting money into it and now it had a bad oil leak. I figured it's ok I'll buy it for my younger brothers 1st car and fix it...turned out the oil leak was just the mechanical fuel pump leaking oil from its weep hole. Best deal I got and my brother was ecstatic to finally have a car.but the bad luck continued he had a front caliper lock up and it got so hot that the rubberized coating on the rim started melting lol

Hello Joe Novak, I pulled it because - frankly - I was a little miserable when we shot it. It was a 99 degree day with shower-head humidity. When I "scowl" at the camera, not once, twice, I felt a little like it was off-putting to viewers. Plus, for as many people who liked the intro, a bunch hated it. I have no clue. But I'm thinking of a shorter one that'll be shot soon. THANKS for writing and watching. -Steve Magnante

Steve The Bostrom Slim line seat was often found in the jump seat or Passenger seat in Line Haul tractors from various makers. The thinking was that if the jump seat was uncomfortable the driver would have few riders. Supervisors would only go for short trips! Hitch hikers and lot lizards were not impressed, especially with leaf sprung suspensions! Great video

That is the original Bostrom company, today there is H.O. Bostrom which typically does fire apparatus seats among other types of seats and then Bostrom which is a company does truck seating for commercial trucks such as Freightliner,Peterbilt and others. At one time I believe that they were the same company but then the companies split apart.

Hi brian bloom, I was about 7 when Mom gave me my first Matchbox car. Then by age 9 I discovered 1/25 scale plastic model kits. My first was the AMT 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo from the Motor City Series of simplified kits with n o engines but with plenty of body, interior and chassis detail. In particular the little Rally Wheels blew me away. The model cars were followed by the 1975 discovery of a stack of 1964-'70 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazines in a buddy's garage. Learning about Hemis, Ford Cammers, Chevy Semi-Hemis (as the press called the big block back then), Sox and Martin, the Ramchargers, Jungle Jim, the Brutus GTO, Grumpy Jenkins and all of the Muscle car stuff stood in stark contrast to the 1975 that we all suffered through with OPEC, Detroit Downsizing, catalytic converters, net horsepower ratings, the Import Invasion and all the rest of what made the Smog Seventies a bummer for high performance cars. Sure, a lot of it was justified and unavoidable - but the cars were boring to an 11 year old kid like me. So that was my foundation, a stack of 1964-1970 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazines! O still have a few of the actual issues to this day! OK, Thanks for watching and writing. -Steve Magnante

1:35. That is a different Bostrom than the Bostrom that made the passenger car seats. It’s confusing but true HO Bostrom is the car seat maker (Chrysler et al supplier). The Bostrom in the magazine shown is a truck seat company. Not part of CVG. Way before the 60’s there was some connection between the two.

Please read. The finned aluminum brake drums with the steel inserts where state of the art at the time, "and still are" as far as stopping power, heat, dissipation and vibration. You see, the steel brake shoe surface is outstanding for friction, but in the mean time the finned aluminum housing are outstanding for vibration "squeaking" and provide more fade resistance "over heating, it is all most as good as disc brakes, and in some cases better. By the way, the optional power front disc brakes available on the 1967 Pontiac GTO's where GM Delco Moraine four piston, fixed calipers, the same as 1965 - 1982 Chevrolet Corvette. Please Reply. Dave...
