Yeah, I rewound that part real quick to watch it again. Trying to guess how long it had been since they had seen each other. Didn’t look like an every day/week hug. More like maybe a month or two. Ed had a little bit of extra excitement to see his brother. You can see how big and strong Alex was too, compared to Eddie. Looked like Eddie kind of got up on his toes, and Alex kind of crushed him. That was awesome! 👍🏻☺️

The way Eddie says "Hey Al" and then they hug. I love that shit. I think these two are about as tight as a couple of brothers could be. They went through a lot together, coming to a new country as grammar schoolers, not speaking the language. Their family's story is really what the American dream is about.

Hello everyone, well it has been 24 days since we were stunned by the passing of a true genius. I have been a fan since my 21st birthday when I was first introduced to Van Halen. From first note I was hooked. I bought their albums as soon as I could when they came out (F.U.C.K. and Balance the day they were released).I was lucky enough to have seen them with the last 4 albums at 4 different places including the Monsters of Rock at Candlestick Park (that was the most people I ever saw there).They were so good never missed a note. If you saw them live you could close your eyes and you couldn't tell the difference between live and recordings. I took my 1st wife the 1st time I saw them she was 8 months pregnant with my oldest daughter. Wife had a terrible time. Daughter had a blast . Ex-wife wouldn't let her listen to them growing up. When she turned 18 she bought 5150 1st thing. I met a wonderful woman in 2011. We got married in 2014 . Our walk up song at our reception was "Love Walks In ". I just want to say to Al ,Mike,Sammy, Dave and Wolfgang that I am sorry for their loss and wish them well and thank you for the inspiring music and I will miss him all most as much as you guys. We can only hope that when you go through the recording left behind we will get at least a couple new albums. (We can only hope). Thanks. Phil King 10/31/2020

@freddyferrillo97046 жыл бұрын
John Westcott , tight as hell? They are practically playing to a track. Which I count as cheating. In the song "Right Now" who is playing the piano part? It's a tape that they're synced up to. And it's lame. And they do it on almost every song on that tour. I hated it. Van Halen never did that when Dave was in the band. They lost a lot of fans because of that silly keyboard sound. Trust me, I witnessed both era,s. Van Halen would blow anybody off the stage from 1978-1983. That's it. After that they went downhill and Dave knew it. That's why he split. Then they reinvent themselves with Sammy. And their fan base turned into little Jr. High kids! It sucked!
@Solidrocktron6 жыл бұрын
freddy ferrillo Believe me they are actually fuckin tight even with the piano part played by a tape, eddy’s guitar playing is excellent and the singing is really close to the CD’s one. They’re really good on stage compared to a lot of crappy rock band nowadays where sometimes you don’t even recognize what song they’re playing live.

I love at the very end, he takes off that other headset and just drops it on the ground. Awesome! I love the Van Hagar era. All of these musicians are so talented. However, Sammy is my favorite. There’s just something about the quality and sound of his voice that invokes the emotion from the lyrics that transcends time. When he sang Dreams, the old familiar feelings from that time resurfaced…like every time I hear one of their songs. He’s also undefined leader that really propelled the band, in my opinion. He’s naturally cool, too. Fun to see these videos.

This explains why they put out The Best Of album after they booted him out. Out of pure spite. That says a lot about character. Now they won't even consider a tour with him and they know as fans that's what we want.
@e.l.norton4 жыл бұрын
Most fans really don't want another Sammy tour. They play virtually the same set list with Sam on every tour and it's just worn OUT. Casual fans, maybe. But, most hard core fans wanted the original lineup one last time. To hear Mikey backing the classic catalog one last time. But, with Ed's health it's unlikely they'll ever tour again. The Best of albums were all label driven. The band really didn't want to do them. Even Live: Right Here, Right Now. That was all the record company pushing that. They wanted a greatest hits. The band didn't want that, and they also didn't want any kind of deal with Roth at the time over royalties for a Greatest Hits. The compromise was to do a live album with Sammy singing some more of the Roth era tunes. In essence, a live "Best of".

Sungodv Downloads are certainly an issue, but the big record labels became lazy and complacent with the old model. People got tired of that. It's still entirely possible to make a living making music, but the industry has become democratized. There's more content out there, not just what record labels and radio stations push in our faces. Nobody can claim radio died due to music downloads, for example, it died because it also was operating under a flawed and outdated model. Vinyl/physical media is now once again selling well, which shows that although illegal downloads still happen, people are willing to pay for what is worth paying for. Some labels are now selling more vinyl than digital downloads. People still go to shows and buy merchandise and for bands putting in the effort and time, they're making a living. The internet has become a tool and has cut out the middle men in many cases.

Love Eddie breaking into country...And of course even that sounded fantastic! I would love to see them jam on a country or blues song. Would be a cool to see him step outside his normal zone.

howzaou812 They have already done 2 bluesy songs. They are called Ice Cream Man & Stay Frosty.

I would love to see footage of Eddie playing other instruments, in addition to piano. I read he could play anything he picked up.

I'm obsessed with his impromptu version of I Walk the Line...

I only just noticed Mike at the end break for Won't Get Fooled Again, goes seamlessly into the keyboard part briefly as Ed slams the chords and then backs Ed on the chords before Ed goes to the keyboard riff before the mighty scream from Sammy. Fucking impressive interplay. The look on Mike's face when Sammy screams says it all.

The clincher for me when they turned Michael Anthony into a scale musician(like a keyboardist they bring in for one song pay)...he wasnt part of the bands cut,Eddie and Alex stood over him and told him and laughed.....scum....was Dave crazy and had an ego the size of NJ yes...but it worked....5150 was still a great album..Sammy and Michael are good people...

And the fact Sammie would sing a song were the lyrics were Written by Dave is irritating...

watch Saamy"for Mike" video..it shows how after they got rid of him they said they had to teach him parts and he only played 1 note bassline because he couldn't play,Sammy said that was pure BS stormed off the interview and said "mike played those basslines incase Eddie Fcd up"but the story came from a DLR interview

Thanks for posting this video. The intro when they were talking was so awkward I almost had to turn it off. This was the tour when Sammy left the band, and you can hear all the passive aggressive banter as well as how out of place Sammy feels when he says, "We didn't used to have this much trouble communicating, did we?" All of that said, they rocked it later in the video. It was good to see the inside of 5150.

I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for posting it. I loved this time and in my opinion, VH were at their best at this time. I also loved VH 3 too. It is a bit sad that they imploded but, hey! That's rock and roll!

I love how fun Sammy acts when he’s high... (very beginning, plus 38:21) Damn, this is a great video. And I’m amazed how the band sounds exactly, and I do mean exactly like the studio album. Surprised the hell out of me. I’ve never seen this was before. This is great! By the way, 39:25 is where they cover a song by The Who. 😉

You could feel the tension between the brothers and Sammy, possibly for the first time? Mike staying as neutral as possible. I love every one of these guys singly by themselves and as a whole. I have played drums in bands starting in highschool for my entire life up to today, and I always said it's like trying to keep 3 or more wives (or husband's) happy. Not an easy task. Love you Eddie, Alex, Sammy, Mike and Dave! Every one of you guys had such an influence on my playing, thank you forever and ever!🤘✌️🤘
@davidbrucemusicvideo4 жыл бұрын
No disrespect, but I didn’t sense that in this video at all! You’re saying that you can see that the brothers have a problem with Sammy? I’m not doubting you, but I can’t see it. Then again, I’m high and just enjoying the shit out of this video!
@yourdrummer20344 жыл бұрын
@@davidbrucemusicvideo you can see Ed, Al and Sammy pulling the conversation their way until one of them breaks in with something. They are trying to act natural in front of the camera, but don't want to say something the others won't like, maybe. Maybe I was high! I had to watch it because i forgot making the comment! I stand by the comment you can see tension there..
@davidbrucemusicvideo4 жыл бұрын
@@yourdrummer2034, right on. I watch the whole thing, couldn’t see any tension. I know the band lasted another three years, so I didn’t know they were having problems at this point. Then again, Sammy was pretty high here, so maybe he was trying to deal with something already.
