@@davetip79 I dunno - he did some damn fine guitar playing on 2012’s “A Different Kind of Truth” - but yeah, I know what you’re saying. There was some mid-career stuff when he was heavy into his addictions and it kind of sounded like he was phoning in some noodling. Still way better than anything I came up with in 32 years of guitar playing, though 😆😑

I was 17 years old when they came into the scene. I was a fan of theirs immediately. I saw them live several times as I did many of the Great Rock Acts. They appeared at the time when Rock was at its amazing peak in popularity. As far as destroying all the bands I don't think so. Stop speaking out of your ass and start stating factual material. AC DC Tull yes rainbow scorpions etc etc all blew VH away live

Agree with you on the old thing. Have seen some amazing shows myself. Van Halen doing the Monsters of Rock tour. Supporting the OU812 album. At their Sammy era peak. Silverdome Pontiac,MI. That was a show.
@freddyferrillo97045 жыл бұрын
It would've been a rare thing to see Van Halen pre 1980 in the USA. Unless you were involved in the Los Angela's scene? Those tours VH went on in pre-1980 were mostly in Japan and Europe. The few concerts they did actually play in the States before 1980; they were almost always the warm-up band. I'm pretty sure they didn't start head-lining until the Women And Children First tour in late 1980/mostly '81. Just me reminiscing. It was a long, long long time ago! I could be wrong on the dates?
@legatomisterioso74 жыл бұрын
freddy ferrillo: Yeah they toured with Sabbath, Journey, and Boston in North America (I think they were also with sabbath in Europe, might have to check on that) and opened for them in 1978. They then (after Europe) toured a leg in Japan, and that’s what this song is from. I have the bootleg, and the concert is in Shinjuku (Part of Tokyo I believe). They did headline on the 79’-on tour(s) though!
