The funniest part of this performance (which isn't in this clip) is some guy yelling "that's not Van Halen!" at the end of that awful attempt at Runaround. LOL
@jefflitchfield49502 жыл бұрын
I have to agree with that guy though. They really didn't play a Van Halen song there that was more of a train wreck that just didn't stop.

Why was Scott doing a rock a billy version while Slash was doing the drunk version and the rest of the band doing the regular version? XD

It's amazing that someone with a voice as good as Scott Weiland's can mess up a good song this badly.
@calus78902 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if Scott weiland hadn’t sung this and someone else did like David lee Roth it would have been great, he was the only one that really brought them down
@NJTransit1985 Жыл бұрын
I like Slash, I like his playing and I like his personality but he doesn’t play this kind of music well.
@BPoweredLove Жыл бұрын
He didn't mess it up. He was mocking Dave with this performance. Dave was driving the band crazy in the days leading up to this. How can you think Scott couldn't kill this song if he wanted to?

It's weird...When Van Halen covered someone elses tunes it almost always sounded great, but when other bands play a Van Halen song it just sounds like a talent show.
@BigBass-xf5yi2 жыл бұрын
Van Halen literally owned every cover that they remade. Their stamp was truly impressive.

What a fantastic and precise way of describing that exact feeling! EVERY time someone lays VH it sounds like that, bad talent show. Jesus, how many times I've cringed.... ugh! It's why I don't jam with guitar players.

@@MsBirdDroppings I heard they suggested "Jamie's Cryin," too. No idea why Roth was insisting on "Jump;" Velvet Revolver doesn't even have keyboards.

They should have hired Steel Panther and they would have had the closest thing to vintage Van Halen... maybe better than 99% of film.
@JR-es1sb2 жыл бұрын
Or Atomic Punks circa 1996-97 with Bart (RIP) and Ralph. That was the best early VH tribute.
@Mr._Mints Жыл бұрын
Well, at the time of this performance, Steel Panther was still known as Metal Skool. They had done a few notable things, but I doubt they were big enough to hire for a Rock Hall induction. Maybe, if they were interested in hiring tribute bands, they could’ve hired the Atomic Punks. But Ralph (aka Michael Starr) and Russ (aka Satchel) were not with the Atomic Punks, since they were in Metal Skool. So they probably wouldn’t have been part of it no matter what.
