I love all of Van Halen both Dave and Sammy, can’t deny what a great singer Sammy is, I thought it was a perfect fit for the music at the time for what Eddie was writing at the time Sammy nailed it , can’t imagine David singing and writing those lyrics to those songs. David was the original guy and did a masterful job for his thing and set the standard for that time of singer performer act in the late 70’s and early 80’s . Best years of my life when Van Halen was on the radio!!

this brought a smile on my face and at the same time i think why couldn't Alex have been there (or dave for that matter)for the fans too? he's not in rehab. Oh F'n wellll! My hate's off too Micheal Anthony & Sammy for going out there for the fans. They definitly had fun Playing with Paul Shaffer. It was a celebration. My opinion Van Halen is a Kick ass group that turned Super group when Sammy came in.

Replying to a decade old comment. lol. A lot changed since 2010 but some things never do. The fact Alex, Eddie and Roth weren't there and Sammy and Mike were in attendance really shows which members *sincerely* care about the fans, imo. All though i do understand the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has turned into a corporate back slapping event more or less. Still...it is telling regarding who was in attendance and not, at least imo.

Sammy doesn't play guitar on this song! But yeah, this was a cover and God Bless Michael & Sammy. THEY showed UP! They deserved the honor. Sadly, the rest of the members and/or former members didn't participate. THEIR LOSS!

This is pretty bad. I remember seeing this when it aired originally. I was thinking why the hell are the guitarists using Tele's And Strats. Especially Single Coils! Eddie almost never used Single Coil pickups.

Dave was there that night, but didn't want to share the stage with Sammy. And the whole Alex was helping Ed is bullshit. They both hated Mike , Sammy and Dave at this time, and that's well known. The Van Halen brothers were being their normal asshole selves, sulking at home instead of being there for their fans.

I always thought Sammy had an awesome voice and did very well with Van Halen. David Roth was good too, obviously. Sammy's a bit more mature, it seems, and I can relate to both singers. I can rock to any of their songs.

has anyone noticed how musically bloated van halen got when sammy hagar joined? like, even when you print out a power tab, a DLR era song uses less pages than a hagar song. i printed out dance the night away - 9 pages. and i had to learn dreams for the paul green school of rock. so i print it out - 20 pages.

That's largely due to the fact that, after the dismissal of Dave, Eddie took free reign to write whatever and however tf he wanted. Little to nothing to do with Hagar.

He played with the guys for 3 decades and after such a long time they didn't even consider to ask him for a reunion 2004 tour?!? eddie didn't even ask him to play a bass on 3 new songs on a best of both worlds compilation and almost whole van halen III record...?!? who's two-faced pig now...and I really don't wanna mention the things that eddie said about micheal anthony after he left the band...eddie was always jelous of mike and sammy because they had a great business success...
