What attitudes and behaviors make speaking our truth constructive, as opposed to divisive? In this episode, Natalie Manuel Lee talks to media personality, author, podcaster and social commentator: Van Lathan. Until his controversial firing, Van was a long-standing team member in the TMZ newsroom. He found himself in a very vulnerable state when his career path took a sudden turn. Van talks about being resilient in both showing ourselves grace and being continuously molded into who we are called to be.

Man, I love this guy 100 times more after watching this interview. I remember seeing him on TMZ and wondering how someone with substance ended up on that show in the first place! Sometimes God has to push us out cuz we wouldn't move on on our own. I truly believe God has great things in store for Van. TMZ will be the lowest rung of that ladder. Amen.

I had this exact conversation with my aunt. I always preface a word from God with "I know I'm not all spiritual" or "I just have a feeling, I'm not sure what to call it"and my aunt stopped me and said just because you don't go to church anymore doesn't mean you can't hear God. Our shame keeps us bound and fearful. Wow. Just WOW!😍

Natalie, you're a wonderful representation of the instruction in Romans 12, to love others genuinely. That moment touched me when you cried with him, I immediately thought of the scripture, "mourn with those who mourn." I pray that you continue to allow God to touch your heart and speak to all kinds of people, regardless of what the world has labeled them as because you recognize that they are people. I enjoy seeing your work, it blesses me and I'm sure it blesses more people than you realize. Much love 🤍

Van, God will meet you where you are, perfection not required. God is at the door, ALL you have to do is let him in. On my journey, progress was slow, once I sought God with my heart, I found God, his grace and mercy. God changed me inside out. Every day I am so thankful for His grace and, it's the best love I have ever known. It's a personal journey for everyone but a worthy one. Be spiritual not religious, know the difference. Everybody in church is not saved. Keep your mind stayed on Him and you will not be disappointed❣

This was such an awesome interview. When people have issues with Church, for whatever reason, I always wonder what church are they going to? The Church and Leadership I'm under is nothing like that. But it's still their experience. This is the first time I've seen someone give Spiritual guidance and direction, for better understanding. And the crazy thing is that at the end, Van's awareness of self, mirrors people in the church. It's a personal heart thing. You worry about your own relationship with God. Not the person sitting next to you.

He is running from God not knowing that God is waiting for him. It’s a shame that some people believe that they have to be perfect and compare themselves to other Christians. Walking with God is a journey. If you trust Him, He will change you one step at a time. You just have to do the first step and trust Him. Never forget that the enemy call you by your sins and God calls you by your name. God always waits arms open for His children.
