I’ve spent a LOT of time in my little camper truck cooking, reading, playing guitar and ukulele, and sometimes just staring out the back hatch with a cup of coffee. Carving out a little time and space for yourself is so important for sensitive, creative introverted people. I’m so glad you got to enjoy it!

"staring out the back hatch" Yea, it kind of feels like staring out the window of one of those old B&W large format film cameras, where you're under the hood and seeing the world through a square tunnel. Sort of calming/focusing that all the "side" distractions are hidden and you're only seeing straight forward.

Yea, I think if I get a thinner 12x24" kick and 4x14" snare it could be totally doable. I fit a lot of what I need (other than a fridge/oven), so there should be room.

Deftones, Skyrim, and some happy snacks?!?!! Basically my best day ever. Btw I picked up a pair of the Injinji merino Run socks. Loving them so far! We will see how they breathe while working in my garage at 110F. Let's go!

I thought about van life a lot and watched and listened to many creative ideas but in the end it would be expensive and inconvenient. I ended up only spending $10g on a mobile home and I am saving money. Good luck on your many future adventures.
@AndrewFolts3 ай бұрын
Yea, I might have gone for that in different circumstances. I need to be able to drive back and forth to help my parents out with things, so a van works better in my case. But yes...it's frickin' expensive.

Well done Andrew. forget putting a mattress in it, and use a hammock. You will never need to worry about being on unlevel ground, and it gives you so much more scope for design layouts. Have fun in your mobile adventures.
@AndrewFolts3 ай бұрын
I can nap in a hammock, but it's too curved for sleeping (I've tried it, my back/hips end up super sore), although I def want the hammock in my layout. My sleep pad will hardly take any room, since I'll store it vertically during the day.

Hey Andrew, love the channel… congrats on the Van :) Since you love being out in the wild so much, I’m curious to know your feelings and thoughts concerning earthing / grounding… kind regards, Rogier
@AndrewFolts2 ай бұрын
Hey Roger, many thanks. I personally love being barefoot, although I've A/B tested grounded/ungrounded footwear for multiple months before and I can't perceive any difference in terms of health/mood, etc. For me, the main thing is just to use as thin a sole as possible and natural materials, when possible, to transmit ground feel and improve flexibility. Sensing the texture of the earth beneath me definitely has a positive effect on my mood, pain (lack thereof), and agility, even when ungrounded.
@Bilobaa2 ай бұрын
Ok, that’s interesting. I’ve experienced a difference between grounding on tarmac or on the bare earth recently, finding the latter more wholesome. Maybe it has something to do with my feet becoming both stronger and sensing more as a result of running barefoot. I tried to find some (scientific) evidence for this other than my own gut feeling, but there isn’t any. I’ve asked the Barefoot Professor to tap into this… ;) hoping he can push the boundaries… just like you do with your channel :) Anyway, keep on wondering…
@Bilobaa2 ай бұрын
My theory is that cortisol which accounts for a lot of stress and (if not mediated) depression in modern society may only be channeled by a bioanthropological mechanism (part of which is electric homeostasis) connecting our bodies to the earth as it prepared us for the prolonged fight or flight awareness needed for the hunt… I don’t understand how cortisol is mediated by this homeostasis as my knowledge of physiology simply not suffices Those are my two cents…
@AndrewFolts2 ай бұрын
@@Bilobaa Def makes sense. I feel my worst sitting inside in front of a computer and best out on the trails.
@Bilobaa14 күн бұрын
@@AndrewFolts Great to see you going barefoot altogether I’ve given the subject another thought and abandoned the cortisol line of thinking In fact, I think it’s much more simple: The earth's surface is negatively charged and our skin is positively charged. The body is a conductor of electricity. When the skin makes contact with the (bare) earth, the result is a neutral electrical charge Conclusion: grounding works But how does conduction via metal objects work and is a grounding plug actually effective? You would say that the plug has the same (negative) charge as the earth's surface and when it makes contact with the skin, it can therefore neutralize the electrical charge as a conductor Regards

If it's going to take a lot of time, money, and space to fix acoustics, I wonder if Kilmat (adhesive sound dampening vinyl for cars) would be any help. (Off the top of my head the only thing that definitely fixes is not needing to build up walls with sound insulation.)
@AndrewFolts3 ай бұрын
I hear wool is the way to go, being highly soundproof, but also good for insulation. I actually use two wool blankets on top of my desk when I film and it works really well.
