We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Moose genuinely are giant creatures -- you might even say they are MOOSE-ive! 😁 So glad Trudy's mystery fluid was identified! What a relief that must have been! Flying is a huge part of getting around in Alaska. The state has six times more private-license-holding pilots than any other other state.

Valdez is where there was a massive oil spill in 1989. I went up there and washed wildlife that was dying from being coated with oil. The Exxon Valdez spilled over 14 million gallon of oil into water. Horrifying wildlife losses

They had to start prepaid or use card at the pump, because some people would pull off without paying. If they didn't get the tag number, the gas station were without the money.

Marianne I saw you open the radiator cap with the engine hot. That is a definite No - No !! The coolant is under pressure and depending on how hot it is and the altitude ( MTNs ) you are checking it at, it can come spewing out like Old Faithful geyser. At the very least use gloves or a washcloth to shield your hand. Scalding burns are never fun !

Not to worry, that is the overflow tank and is pretty harmless. The cap on the radiator is the one you need to be extra careful with.

The first mechanic who falsely said it was a pierced brake line, what a dope. If a brake line had just one pin-hole you would have no brakes at all. Good to see that you found that the oil filter was not tightened down.

Hi it was the fuel filter leaking - but we carried a spare so Steve was able to swap it out 👍

Just a bit of advise if you ever (fingers crossed you don’t) see fluid leaking again always worth a smell of it first and you can compare with the fluids you are checking as that can narrow down where it is possibly coming from. I would defiantly always check your levels regularly anyway regardless of a leak or not Great videos guys!

FIAT-"Fix It Again Tony". East Texas gas is about $3.30. Gas in the USA has dropped because demand is down 8% year to year because consumers have less to spend because of inflation. Potential problem-August and September are the hurricane season and a Gulf of Mexico hurricane could close off shore drilling platforms and cause supply problems. I hope that this doesn't happen.

CHECK O RING ON TUBE TO WATER PUMP.This is,a very common fault .Do not put stop leak in or open cap when engine Is hot please allow it to cool.You may be able to just change o ring and tube .If its not accessible and ypu have to.replace the water pump you would have to also replace the timing belt.See parts In.europarts UK to get idea of price a pump and bits £ 29.00.plus a belt. About an hour to replace with one tool but tension needs to be right so as belt is fitted you would untighten it and tightening up with feeler guages to make sure tension is perfect for engine .Hope helps .X

Denali N.P. You will see several Brown bears, 100’s of Caribou and Big horn sheep. You might see Arctic Fox. It is a must to see.

Our current gasoline price in Northwestern Arizona, USA, was $4.39 per gallon self-service regular. Down quite a lot. Was nearly $5.00 a while ago. Diesel is about 75 cents to a dollar more here. I really have been enjoying your Alaska trip videos. Hope all continues well for you both. Hope you do see more wildlife (super great about the Moose!) and fewer mosquitos and flies.

So glad you solved the leak issue. The moment you realised none of the other fluids were leaking I suspected fuel, well diagnosed as it's never easy and I know from owning a VW that it's easy to just assume the worst. Also funny how hindsight kicks in having seen your last video... the leak was clean so likely fuel.

Beautful video! Just had a thought on your slow leak... check all of the metal clamps that connect hoses. If a clamp gets old or worst yet a repairman when replacing hoses continues to use an old clamp instead of using a new one, a clamp can get lose causing leaks which is a cheap replacement part compared to some. Hoses as you might know, as they age can also develop cracks. Years ago, I had the radiator hose expand and burst that connected to the radiator, lost all the coolant, and nearly overheated my engine! Old hoses can be a ticking timebomb, if the hose is easily squeezed between your fingers, I would question how long its gonna last!

If you rewatch your video where the mechanic first found the leak he said it was the clutch and it uses dot 5 brake fluid and you kept repeating brake and I wish I could have crawled through the screen. I said to myself they're going to keep checking the brake reservoir and they should be checking the clutch reservoir. I do love your videos. Be safe

The last moose which I saw was covered in chocolate and in the fridge. Glad that you traced the leak to the fuel filter and got it fixed. The only filter with which I’m familiar is the one which is used to make coffee, but I don’t think that’ll work in a vehicle, unless it happens to run on coffee ☕️

FYI diesel here in Aussie depending where you are, so of course in outback Aussie etc can be up to $3.00 litre, around the city areas different as well. We are currently paying $1.75 litre at Costco. When you come to Aussie down load, fuel map Australia, will give you the cheapest prices around where you are travelling as well as WikiCamps it cost $8 but so handy, will tell you where the free, low cost, paid camps are and reviews. FYI it’s madness in Aussie as lots of peeps travelling in the caravans so often hard to find a good camp in popular areas.

Was curious myself on this issue I have the same setup (if its 2.8) One for future ref for you, I had an issue until this current outing of ours, a stuttering/misfire kind Injector leads go faulty apparently at plug end I replaced one, (ebay kit), still same, then replaced the next plug, hopefully fixed now, it hasn't done it for a few days. Just in case you get similar on your fantastic journey. Oh, I made menemen a few days ago, no sweet peppers tho, next time maybe.. Good luck onwards guys
