I'm going to Japan and will have a 5-hour layover in Vancouver. Just looking to see if it would be possible to briefly explore any part of the city for an hour or two.

originally we were thinking of going back to Vancouver next summer, but with our Hawaii trip in the spring, we might stay in the states in the summer. So perhaps next Summer!

What do you mean by a bus to seattle from waterfront?
@hiromiashmore76867 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dan, this is extremely helpful. I will have about 5 hours lay over time at Vancouver airport. So I think I should get out of the airport and at least feel little bit of Vancouver. Do you have any suggestion where I should go from Waterfront?
@TheNewTravel7 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome, Hiromi. On my channel I have a playlist of videos called "The New Guide to Vancouver". In there I have a video called The New Guide to Gastown. Gastown is a cool neighbourhood that many tourists like, that is an easy walk from the Waterfront. I'd recommend that video to see if it's right for you. There's also a street called Robson St that is downtown, with many shopping options if that interests you. Have fun!
@hiromiashmore76867 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dan, I will check in your other site. look forward to blouse around Gastown@!!

How do you find out how many "zones" you'll be passing through?
@Locomotore997 жыл бұрын
Thank you for providing this helpful video. :-) Can you tell me if I can tap IN at the airport, take the Canada line train to Waterfront THEN change to the Expo line and tap OUT at the end? Thanks.
@TheNewTravel7 жыл бұрын
+Locomotore99 Hi locomotore, yes you can do that. You will have to tap Out at waterfront to get to Expo line, but if you go right to it, the transfer will be free. So no additional charge to tap into expo line :)

In Christchurch the public transport is only buses and if you need to be arriving in daylight hours to get the bus from the airport to city - most of the flights from Australia arrive at midnight so it's annoying. In Brisbane and Sydney there's a train but it's so expensive! $20 for a one way ticket to the city!
@TheNewTravel7 жыл бұрын
$20 is a lot! Yeah I hate when cities overcharge you coming from the airports

Major correction: You can't take a train to Seattle from Waterfront Station. To do that, you have to take the Expo Line to Main Street-Science World Station. That's where the "real" inter-city train station is and where you can actually catch a train to Seattle.
@natnasci8 жыл бұрын
Waterfront Station is in the old CPR ( Canadian Pacific Railway ) station. Not used for trains to Seattle. It has the Skytrain lines,the Seabus, and the commuter train to Mission called the Westcoast Express. For Amtrak's Cascades train to Seattle you use the former CNR ( Canadian National Railway ) station, now called the Pacific Station which is across the street from the Main Street/Science World Skytrain station, just outside of downtown. The fares shown for single tickets etc in this video include the $5.00 additional charge from the airport. Buying single ticket TO the airport or within the system do not have this $5.00 fare. Check out Translink webpage for fares.

Thanks for the useful comment Nat. You're right, I misspoke when I mentioned the train to Seattle. That's actually over by Main Street

If we want to go to UBC campus from YVR via Canada line. Which is the closest station we can drop and how to go from there to our final destination? Please advice
@TheNewTravel6 жыл бұрын
Get off at Broadway - City Hall and then take #99 Express Bus to UBC. UBC will be the last stop, so you can't miss it :)

Hi Dann, do you suggest I should get a day pass if I'm using Sky Train round trip from the airport to waterfront?
@TheNewTravel7 жыл бұрын
+Narumi Nakamura if you are only taking the two trips, buying them both will be cheaper. So I only recommend the day pass if you plan to take a third trip :)
@hiromiashmore76867 жыл бұрын
Hi Dann, your guide is so helpful and I had a very easy trip to downtown from the Airport. it was Sunday so there is a discount and got a day pass which was little cheaper than buying two single tickets. I'm looking forward to visit a beautiful city of Vancouver again.

Any tips for YVR to UBC? And then days later going from UBC to YVR.
@TheNewTravel7 жыл бұрын
+Mary Algar to my knowledge the most direct route would be taking the skytrain to broadway-city hall and them getting on a 99 express bus to ubc.
@maryalgar87797 жыл бұрын
What about getting off sky train at Langara-49th Avenue Station, and then taking Bus #49 westbound to UBC?
