Newly retired contractor at 63...I been making plain bread a few weeks now (love it) and decided to make a Cheddar Jalapeno Bread.....I'll edit this after trying your recipe. Thank you! Edit: Finally! (same day) I've made something scrumptious!, Thanks to you and your kind voice and adorable personality. I made a somewhat special trip to the store to buy the Cayenne and Turmeric and was afraid it was going to be a plain bread with a little bit of flavor....but...instead it's a burst of flavor with a little bit of bread! Your family is blessed to have someone like you running the kitchen (and prolly evthg else)....❤ If you ever have a plumbing question I'm right here to help.

Hello..please understand this message is coming from someone who truly makes homemade fresh baked bread everyday ..and I have to tell you girl this is the best bread recipe I have ever made by far..so easy, tasty and also very forgiving on how long you proof it. I experimented with doing a microwave proof it came out perfect. Also did the traditional method of proofing it too came out great. So tasty . Also I tried the same recipe and made dinner rolls..they were awesome too. Thanks you so much for sharing this wonderful tasty recipe.

This is the only recipe I've ever followed that I didn't have to modify to suit my own taste. Every other recipe either uses too much salt or not enough soy sauce or whatever. I've made this at least a dozen times and I have to force myself to not eat it all in 2 days. Today, I've decided to try smoked cheddar and see how that goes.

My wife just made this bread - and it is fantastic! We live near Denver at about 5600' elevation so we were somewhat concerned about what changes should be made for high altitude, but decided to just try the recipe first and see how well it worked. The one thing we changed was to bake at 385F instead of 375F. Maybe it was just beginners luck but it came out great and has terrific taste. Thanks for making this available!

First of all this is the best and easiest recipe I have found to actually work for me without having a doughy center. It turned out great!

Hello from Maryland Maci! I was craving me some spicy braided jalapeno cheddar bread. I typically go to Wegmans just to buy this. Those were the days BC (before corona). Thanks so much for this. Ive hunted the Internet and nothing comes close to your recipe. My 8 yr old son and I enjoyed watching you make it. He especially loved the sound effects your kid provided 😂. I used instant yeast so the only tip I have for those that may not have active yeast is to add sugar to that initial mixture of milk and water. The recipe needs 1.8 TSPN or ~ 2 TSPN instant yeast and ~ 7 TSPN sugar. It takes about 15 mins for the foam to rise in the water and milk mixture. Also, I added the salt to the “spice mixture”. Not sure if that’s the right way. Last but very important, I used whole wheat flour only and yet it turned out so goooood!!! Be well Maci. Take care

So the wife and I just bought our first dutch oven, and since I've never baked anything in my life, I of course went and found a recipe for cheddar jalapeno bread in a dutch oven. Long story short, it was amazing. However, that recipe said to use shredded cheese and I agree with you, it got lost in the bread. Next time I will be using chunks of cheese instead. Also, I will be making this recipe as not only does it look at least as delicious as the other recipe, it looks way more impressive braided like that. How do you not have more subscribers? First off I apologize for the late response. I want to know if you made the substitution. I am intrigued with the idea of adding artichokes. What if it were a play on spinach artichoke dip?? Instead of cheddar you use mozzarellas and add garlic??? I would say you don't need to change the recipe as long as you cook out some water in the artichokes. Hmmm...I may need to try that myself. Best Wishes. Thanks for the view and comment.

What would the equivalent be if using instant yeast?
@macicooks17074 жыл бұрын
Sonya Diaz Sonya Diaz if you currently have active yeast there will not be any difference in the amount. The main difference between active and instant yeast is the way you have to prep it. Active yeast has to be “activated” by a warm liquid and does best when given something to eat in order to release carbon dioxide. Instant yeast can be added directly to the dough. (But you can also add it to a warm liquid) The only change I have ever seen in my quick breads when making a yeast substitute, has been rise. You may need to increase the rise time by a few min if using active. However, with the cheddar jalapeño bread I have not seen a noticeable difference. www.google.com/amp/s/www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-difference-between-active-dry-yeast-and-instant-yeast-54252%3famp=1 The above reference has some really great info! I have used this link in the past to better understand yeast. Thank you so much for watching!!

@macicooks17074 жыл бұрын
Holly R. Hello! I have never personally used oat flour or substituted for all purpose. However, the references I have found suggest you can with a 3:1 ratio. Most people seem to say you would need a bit more yeast! If you decide to make the substitution I would love to hear how it goes. www.livestrong.com/article/557742-baking-with-oat-flour-vs-wheat-flour/ Here is a reference I found with some more info.
