GOD gave me a dream and I met JESUS‼️ He is very much real. Olive Skin completed Deep green eyes like how fire coruscates JESUS Eyes did so...He looks Middle Eastern where he originated from. One if thee most Powerful SWEETEST LOVING entities that I ever. meet. Indeed Denise saved Souls she was the smallest biggest sacrifice next to JESUS. When I awoke from my Dream I open my Bible randomly and the scripture immediate appointed I WILL SHOW YOU THE MYSTERIES OF HEAVEN. I'm really glad Joan Rivers was a polite interviewer, a sponge even. Because nowadays if a person like Denise were to come to an interview, Bible in hand, and bash the psychic practices and say "I was demon possessed. Its evil. The Bible is the truth" people would be laughing like they are in the comments below, calling her crazy and not taking the warning. Look at the people in the audience; they look respectful and receptive. Doesn't mean they all went down to church and got saved, but at least they respected her message. I love her for her courage and devotion to God. It is amazing to see.

You have to remember that most people back then were at least Christian on some level. There's more diversity now and recognition of this. It's not about what the person believes. it's when people start projecting their beliefs onto others (like she did here) that we now recognized as a problem

@@autumnasters she was being interviewed ab her beliefs tho. They were asking her questions and then totally disrespected her. Imagine inviting a vegetarian to an interview and then have Emerill Lagasse as the guest cook fire up some meat right in front of the vegetarian and then say shit like “i love meat. I dont need to be vegetarian.” ...think ab that...all of it was for show and they didnt take her personal story seriously which is ultimately disrespectful

I’m not a Christian. But there is an argument for what she’s doing and saying just based in the effect her beliefs have had on her personally. In earlier interviews she is sweet but so flighty and pliant. She really has a voice here, and the strength of her personality has a real force. She’s able to override the conversation when it goes sideways effortlessly and she’s able to stun Joan into silence with her conviction here.

I don't think many people are saying that just bc. I'm sure she found solace in religion however you have to remember that she did overdose 2 years after this interview aired...meaning she wasn't quite clean yet. she does exhibit all of the signs of a person who is either on drugs or freshly detoxing off of drugs (paranoia, disconnected, possible hallucinations etc.) people generally don't go from a hardcore party life full of drugs sex and occult practices and wake up one morning a born again Christian. at this point in her life she seemed to have no concept of moderation or balance. either way I'm glad that she eventually seems to have found peace.

Even though I'm watching this almost 22 years later, I can't even begin to express how happy I am for Denise. Everything she said made complete sense. There's a reflection and familiarity to her story, I believe to be true. Everything, everyone that is brought into your life is a gift and sign. I love that Sister Denise Matthews had her Bible with her. She was serious about God. I saw this episode as a child and it really ministered to me and I was like wow! Vanity? She’s changed and not ashamed. That made a positive impact in my life just seeing her like this on this show.

May she rest in God's peace. Not everyone will understand her experience, it's a personal relationship with God and it's so beautiful she left that life that was destroying her. So good of her to speak in public.

I think what's missing from a lot of the conversations we are having about her is the fact that she was a beautiful woman who was sexualized and abused at a very early age. "Vanity" seemed to be an an attempt to regain some control over a facade that was projected onto her but ended up causing more damage and trauma. She was before my time but I find her to be oddly captivating. While I do believe that she traded in one addiction for another I'm just glad that one of them led to her living a more fulfilling life

Are you kidding. If she would have been in ANY OTHER talk show at that time (especially including oprah) she would have been absolutely ridiculed for her beliefs and them being so ironic since she is known for being a hyper-sexualized public figure. Joan Rivers felt bad for her and didn't want to humiliate her on her show, and trust me...she could have. Joan was always sweeter to guests that where otherwise ridiculed when they went on all the other talk shows. Like the Club Kids for exemple. She was a sweetheart to gay men and drag queen and especially women. So please...wake up and smell the real world. There are no demons or magic...theres just you.

+harlengabriel yes and you are right! we as mankind always take things even God at our own benefit to keep people and ourselves down. God is a Spirit NOT a man... and we are to worship him in spirit and in truth. So yes when religion was established, and used to keep people in slavery, that was never his plan. Jesus himself did not like religion and hypocrisy!! That's why he says whosoever believes in him..Hes an Equal opportunist! ALL PEOPLE!!!So if I as a black woman, chooses to accept him as my God that's my choice.. That's called Faith!!!... forget all the politics!! It doesn't negate the fact that i'm black.. He created me.. And you know what he said, That I'm fearfully and wonderfully made!! Psalms 139:14 .. So if I believe in a God who's a Spirit, and Jesus who comes from the tribe of Judah. I''m Good!!

I was drop dead in love "Vanity" - she was my poster girl - I even wrecked my car trying to see her signing autographs as she was promoting her album "Wild Animal" at Tower Records in Hollywood.. but to hear her talk about seeing Demon's Sleeping in her bed and seeing them walking around in her bedroom - is sort of disturbing to hear 30 some years later.. bcz she's saying this stuff... completely Sober.. and did she really need to bring her bible with her just to sit and talk with Joan Rivers?? I mean did she even notice that the "Demons" stopped sleeping in her bed and walking around in her bedroom after she stopped doing drugs?? poor girl ended up losing her life as a result of past drug addictions - but you can see by some of the things she says that happened to her - were also written into the script for Purple Rain .. RIP "Beautiful One".. "The Beautiful one's always smash the picture.. always.. every time"!!

Good for her. Vanity went throuh H and back, and praise GOD she is saved from all that. A pretty face can be a curse. This woman was young when discovered by Prince. She had men like Billy Idol, Adam Ant sixx from the Montley crew, John Stamos, & many many others. People want to judge her, because of her addiction. She should be a pure n clear example for everyone on here. Drugs can and will kill a life. Thank GOD she was able to find him and turn her life around GodBless her.

I dont think she was on the wrong show... Joan actually allowed her to project herself for God and actually listened to her while asking hard life questions that we all face... I think the stark contrast between the two women here allows us to make a clear distinction for the truth that we want to live or believe..Class interview and you got to give it to Joan for not being condescending whatsoever in her approach... Denise also did a great job here... Class interview for me!!!
