You’ve been asking and finally we’re beginning the inside renovations! We’re planning on transforming this cabin into a home this winter. There’s so much to look forward to - a bathroom, walls,cabinetry… stay tuned in pack 💛 Leave your fav DIY renovation channels here please :) Happy Canadian Thanksgiving 🍂💛

XO MaCenna is an amazing renovation channel. She has spent the last year totally renovating an old cottage in Texas. There is literally nothing she can't do. She amazes me as she has no training whatsoever and literally googles and KZbins things and teaches herself and then smashes it. She is building an entire kitchen from scratch at the moment, building the kitchen cabinets herself from solid wood. If you watch her channel you will be addicted. Her friend Drew from Lone Fox channel is really good too. He has just bought an old Spanish style house in California and he is renovating it from top to bottom. Both are seriously worth watching if you don't do already.

Happy Thanksgiving to you! You two have worked so hard and so well on your cabin. You so deserve the home to look so nice. Crystal, a little bit of news for your cold sores. I get them too. Do they hurt so bad. I put Polysporin on mine several times a day. They hurt far less and they heal much faster. I used the patches but I also get them in my nose

The unique thing about Vanwives is that the viewer becomes immersed in their personalities. They don't talk at you, but you become the third friend in the room. Their level of comfort is what puts a smile on our faces and a feeling that we belong as their friend which always has the welcome mat out each time you visit their current and historical videos. Love you girls, hugs for Izzy and Bella.😊😊

I thought you were saving the inside work for when the weather turns bad. But the weather looked nice and you are inside...which, I think, means that you have finished everything outside that you wanted to get done. I am SO IMPRESSED by that!!! You are not rushing and stressed to get stuff done outside! AMAZING!!!! Ok, those floors are beautiful and already the inside is coming together. It feels like you will be moving so quickly inside. Your home is so beautiful!!! Well done!!! (I am including your whole land in "home", not just the inside of the cabin.)

Just wait how different it’ll feel when light starts bouncing off the walls too!! So pretty, great job ladies 😊
I've laid thousands of sq ft of tongue and groove flooring. You guys did great! Not only did the purple substrate seem necessary, you'll really be grateful for the extra layer for under-foot feel and insulation. It makes the floor a lot quieter too. Great job on those doorway transitions! 💚

We just installed 1,000 sq ft of this in our home over the past week or so. We love it and it seems impervious to our dogs running around on it. It's an easy DIY but takes a little patience, as you know, to trim it around doorways and irregular shapes. It's worth the effort!

Yep…..went in to a beautiful three story log cabin years ago….just from the outside I was ready to consider it. The outside was gorgeous. The owners were not there. I wanted hardwood floors fire place etc etc. I did not have much growing up and did well in my work so here we are years later and I wanted to get a home that my wife had dreamed of. Just as the realtor is opening the door he said, keep an open mind on the floors. They had two German Shepard’s and three floors of beautiful oak floors….had dog nail scratches all over on all three floors. He said, we can adjust the price if you want to replace these or have them sanded and stained. I said, sir I am not interested, I can’t believe someone would let that happen it’s just total disregard….it was their house and their choice but I was done. I could see those floors in my mind, as they must have been…gorgeous and now…..just carelessly ruined.

I think I’ve had flooring contractors put down engineered hardwood floors over vinyl flooring and I’ve seen KZbinrs put down vinyl flooring over old vinyl flooring. So I’m wondering if it was really necessary for the girls to pull up the old tiles before they put down the new laminate flooring. Can you enlighten me?
@jimmyjohnstone58782 жыл бұрын
The new flooring could have been laid over tiles but firstly not all the home had tiles so height would be different, second the tiled areas were damaged in places so again height uneven if wood laid. So, they had to remove. If existing tiles are even, well stuck down to an even height throughout, then the new flooring can be laid on top.

Very impressive indeed. We did our son's house recently and it took 66 boxes of similar tiles. Hard tedious labor with a couple of moments of frustratuion...but very happy when it's done. 7gh closets and doorways! We cut a bunch of the remnant pieces into equals and they make great coasters, hot pot trivets, and a bunch of other uses including as place settings for our pups. Love you ladies...big cheers from Southern Arizona.

Go Go Floor layers, well that sound a lot more intelligent in side my head.The floor underlayment will also help keep out drafts glad you went in that direction. The remaining Chip board interior walls. I had walls in my second floor stairs and I mixed white glue and plaster and created a sticky skim coat, used a trowel to apply it came out looking like solid plaster walls. You can make it as smooth or as rustic as you want, It's really durable surface, and totally paintable. Everything is pulling together so well, great job!

Beautiful job ladies! Your drive to completion reminded me of times when I was doing a puzzle and stayed up late to complete “just one more piece.” We recently moved into a tiny mobile home and I chose a model with lots of windows and light gray colors accented with white, it really opens up the space. Our terriers were used to carpet so it took them a while to adjust to the laminate floor. They do a great slide when they get the “zoomies.” The pitter patter of their nails on the floor lets us know where they are. Thanks for sharing your adaptations as you went along. And your self care during the project was an important factor…the food, the sharing of jobs, the sauna and the shots of Bella and Izzy during the process add to the enjoyment of sharing this special time with you.

When I moved into my house it was a project waiting to happen. Over time I have added 2 additional rooms and have changed every room since moving in my place. This next thought you already understand. When you tackle & finish a project your Pack is truly making the house (& outbuildings) creation. Where ever you turn it is truly your achievement. In the future you will continue to feel pride in what you two have done. Think back to the first time you saw what will become your land. You had the vision to see what it might become. Next you developed the needed skills to create your dreams. This season has been the actualization of your vision. You two dreamed the dream & then you created the reality. I & the fans of your Pack watched in awe. Many things remain to be done. No believes that there is a challenge you can’t meet. I look forward to watching your future plans & how you surmount them.

I installed a similar type of flooring (but bamboo) in both of our bathrooms. Everything I read recommended a vapor barrier so I first laid down a sheet of heavy gauge plastic. These are so-called "floating" floors, so I think you were very wise to put down the underlayment.
@garykimmel30642 жыл бұрын
Hi Crystal and Jasmin. Love you video, keep it up. Your videos are amazing and the skills you have learned over the course of your home's transformation. I love all of the power tools you have. I do a lot of jobs around my house saving lot of money, with enough tools to build a house if I had the experience. For other interests, I help build theater sets, and do building restoration work for a local theater company down here in Pennsylvania. I have noticed that you use a lot of carpenters pencils. Carpenter pencils have fat lead, hard to sharpen, and the points are never the same; therefore, the lead thickness is the never the same too.While they are great for rough cutting, for precise cuts, I would recommend using either regular lead pencils or mechanical pencils always with sharp points. Keeping a pencil sharpened will always give you the exact cuts where it must counts the most. This is especially important when laying down your home's floors (job well done)r and new walls especially for cutting out your receptacle boxes... While I always used that process on my own work, a friend (architect and cabinet maker from the theater) insists that you should always use sharp pointed pencils. Keep up the beautiful house restoration, and look forward to next week's video. (Your dogs are really beautiful, too!)

since you said that everyone in your province is looking for a wood burning stove and you need heat I've seen a few of these videos where these people have these I think called Mr heaters they're a little portable heaters that run a propane you need to run them off the small tanks or off the ones that you use on a grill that may help you stop getting measure anything I suggest if you do something like that is to get a CO2 detector.. maybe helpful be able to make a larger portable propane heaters again you need to detector they may take the chill off in the winter until you can get a wood burning stove.. just want to give you a chance to decide where you want to put it and what kind of back to use to protect the wall against the heat.. when you're close down the road you may want to put a small heater in there in case when you leave you have some heat and air to prevent the pipes from freezing up and breaking... the reason I say that you're probably holidays that you want to spend with your family and all for you and are going to be there to keep an eye on pipes and you don't want to keep draining your system every time you're going to be gone for an extended period of time. that's why you need a little heater that you put on and it comes on automatically to keep the chill down.. when you come home you can for up the wood burning stove.. and I'll show when you're asleep and if the fire dies down going to be able to have some heat there to you know freeze just to suggestion.. that's all I was.. just a suggestion.. I'm glad to see you ladies doing most of the work I know that you've done a lot of work in your camper van and just transmits over to what you're doing now.. have a nice day.. God bless

... you two are amazing ,, good work ethics and desire to learn ... .. floor has come along nicely ,,but will need to cover it to prevent surface damage while working on the ceiling and walls ... .. basic rule is ..frame from the ground up .... and finish from the top down ... in reno phases ,,floors should be done last ,, even after paint ...
