I would recommend attempting this with 99% because 91 means there's almost 10% water and water is very bad for electronics unless it's deionized. But deionized water is still bad cuz after 15 minutes it ionizes itself.

Deionized water is ionized from minute 0... thats why it has a ph of 7... 10^-7 are H+ ions and 10^-7 are H30+ ions... Deionized water only means, that it has no OTHER ions other than its own molecular autoionization ions. The term deionized water is quite stupid and shouldnt exist in the first place.

So it is recommended to use 90% isopropyl alcohol or higher, 70% is most common but contains more water. The less percentage, the more water it contains, and The higher percentage it is, the less water it contains.

Should be safe. IPA vaporizes pretty quickly and therefore that screen will be as good as new in about.. 4 days, speaking from experience; However, mine is a 99% so it may differ.

OLED would be fine, the problem happens with LCD because of the multiple light deflector lens layers behind the actual LCD. If anything gets between those layers, you'll have a permanent stain.

@@legitscoper3259 nah, it'd be fine. Isopropyl is used for cleaning electronics exactly for the reason that it is harmless to the components. LEDs are nothing more than diodes with a transparent (or translucent) resin/polymer sealed casing. OLED screens are just a matrix of them in one single board or casing. There are no exposed or free chemicals, nor any way for the isopropyl to reach inside the diodes anyway...

@@yashgedam3973 hand sanitizer is usually 70-proof ethanol and other components to make it a gel, including water... It will probably cause corrosion if it went in deep enough to touch any circuitry. If it only managed to reach between the diffuser lenses, the gel residue will leave a permanent stain but that's it. By the way I believe iPhone XR still uses LCD

True story, I used 90% isopropyl alchohol on my water damaged non working phone after 2 months couldn't afford new phone so what the hell try why not and it came back to life same as this, had background effects screen defects however did function as before so I was happy, still have the phone today and it still works but use a newer model of course, and seriously considering using the same alchohol on my other electronics that have issues.

DO NOT use soap and water! Detergents are conductive and any remaining soap residue may cause a short circuit. Water also takes significantly longer to dry and may not dry entirely internally, causing corrosion which will definitely brick a phone. IPA(IsoPropyl Alcohol) is the industry standard for cleaning electronics, I even have submerged a mechanical keyboard in IPA after removing the keycaps to unstick some of the switches that became sticky after a spill. I am typing on that keyboard right now.
