I want Death Rattle Razzle Dazzle to run in an actual theater. It's marvelous. And that is my favorite song from the show.

Steve Martin absolutely KILLED this. Amazing writing. Genious.

This is brilliantly composed, orchestrated and arranged! It's got all the musical theater toolbox of tempo changes, key changes, movement, form, melody shapes, a rubato, a capella, horn stabs and catchy lyric rhythms! And Steve did an amazing performance! I love it!

I absolutely loved the season. And I learned that the German word "Sitzprobe" is used in English. Literally translated it means "sit down rehearsal".
@francescaa83313 ай бұрын
Yes I learned the term Sitzprobe also, and it was fun to find out how literal it was. I don't know much about musical theater- so I never heard the term. This show is funny - and educational!

It's a common term in opera.

I love learning the lingo as well! I've only seen one show on Broadway and it is such a beautiful world to explore.

It just doesn’t ever get any better than this. The lyrics, the music, the execution - sublime. Genius in every way.
@Hexon663 ай бұрын
Well, ironically anyway. It's like cheesy off-Broadway schmaltz. Great if that's what you love. But hilarious if regarded as a spot-on parody of corny musical numbers.

My husband and I have only recently started watching OMITB and after watching this episode were floored with this piece of music! We also are only recently becoming live theatre enthusiasts, so watching this song writing process is so enlightening!!
@GJF1183 ай бұрын
From Wikipedia: In opera and musical theatre, a Sitzprobe (from the German for 'seated rehearsal') is a rehearsal where the singers sing with the orchestra, focusing attention on integrating the two groups. It is often the first rehearsal where the orchestra and singers rehearse together. The equivalent Italian term is prova all'italiana.

Sitzprobe translates to "sitting rehearsal". As a German speaker, it's always fun to hear English speakers use German words!

It’s crazy that Steve has yet to perform this song live in real life. My guy, aren’t you nominated because of it?? Why aren’t you campaigning for what could be your second Emmy award? Unless you meant for it to be a one and done thing. I’d love to see it performed in the Emmys telecast, though.
