Oh my gosh!! I am a 50 YOF and just started my research on tractors. Meaning I do not know a thing about tractors so I have to fully educate myself before even decided on a brand. Your explanation is simple without dumbing it down but very informative. Thank you

Great video. I had a 36 hp tractor rated for 1500 lbs loader lift, and it could lift my 1000+ lb square bales, however needed ballast, and an implement to handle it safely. I ended up replacing it with a Mahindra 2660, which is rated for 3200 lbs, and seems like overkill but with the muddy when its warm and rutted, frozen pastures in the winter, I feel much safer and, my tractor isn't maxed out all the time. I have 20 horses and go through about 70-100 bales a year. Now with ballast in the tires I'm able to move the bales in 2WD and I never feel like the tractor is going to tip or get stuck. I see a lot of guys get the smallest tractor that can lift what they need according to the specs, but they end up tearing up the tractor and struggling to get things done in a timely fashion.

Informative discussion on safe loading for any vehicles axle capabilities. The front axle, as you point out, together with the hub drive system, is a critical factor for safe handling and avoiding breakage. Adding ballast to the rear will increase the counter balance weight and increase the weight on the front which can raised without lifting the rear of the ground. Therefore the loading on the front wheels, hubs and axle drive assemblies is also increased. Add impact due to uneven surfaces, braking , steering etc. and the failure point of the weakest link will eventually be exceeded. Manufacturers should include safe working loads/weights for the front and rear axles with the tractors specifications as is required for vehicle and trailer registration. Towing and lifting gauges on the instrument panel could show/warn operators of the tractor of dangerous overloading etc.. Don’t want to complicate work but where injury, death and machinery damage due to machinery failure and operator error is an avoidable, measurable risk which can be avoided, we should be responsible. Would we as buyers of machinery value this info and warnings being offered by the manufacturers of tractors? Gary

Nice video. I wish I had it 7 years ago. I have a 2555 with loaded rear tires and I put a 7 foot finishing mower on the back (850lbs) to move full 275 gal totes. It works but on uneven ground its a bit sketchy. Hit a bump and the loader arms bounce and ocellate. You need to move slowly.

Great video with explanation of loader lift capacity. I recently purchased a Max24 recently with ballast. I noticed that after it was shipped to me, there seems to be a little more noise from the HST than is normal. Is there an HST purge procedure for the Mahindra? If so, where can I locate the bypass that would enable me to purge the air from the transmission?

My uncle picked up the 1526, TLB all set up nice and believe he loves it. I was legit 1day away buying one but someone beat me down to the dealership to buy it. Luckily I ended up finding an 88' Deere 1050 mfwd TLB. Bigger, heavier stronger, more power, but the best part is even a city boy can fix/maintain anything on her. Lacks modern amenities, but it's literally a fckng tractor lol hard to find the real specs on it, aswell as a good deal on parts at times. According to an old time dealer with original paperwork the 1050 with model 75 loader was rated at 1600+ lb lift, lifting 1800 pounds easily but above 5' she will be unstable......no shit hey lol I may have grown up on a farm, but some idiots will always be idiots lol

I have a 25.9 Mahindra xlt shuttle . I lift alot of weight sometimes max weight. I have 900 lb of ballast weight. I move heavy logs with my forks . In order to see how well the tractor is really going to handle any weight you need ballast weight . I almost rolled my tractor because of no ballast weight. What a difference with the ballast weight. I am on flat and hilly ground. Denis from Santa Rosa CA

Are you still happy with your 1640 HST? I was going to buy the 1635 HST but went back to look at the tractors and I really like the 1640 better, even just for cab layout. It seems beefier even though he said it's the same specs on this video, but then showed us that's not really the case, the 1640 lifted more.

Had a trouble with the 7060 front tires if you’re carrying a big bale on the front and you’re going down the road very fast or in a higher speed bounce of the Mail on there will blow your front tires out the original tires on the tractor have to be replaced with fire stone heavier tires more air

For highway use or loader work, they recommended 30 psi in the front tires instead of 16 for field work.

You talk about the 1600 something pounds on the pins, is that what yiu call breakout pressure. Trying to figure out the jargon.
@devinvarner1675
@devinvarner1675 2 жыл бұрын
The 1600 pounds would be capacity to full height at the pivot pins. When you are talking breakout force that is the maximum number that the loader can do usually explained when you push into a pile and ask the loader to lift up thru it when you are pushing on it. When the loader stop's and you back off torque then the loader starts to lift again that is the breakout force spec that you see.

My 5555 with forks could not lift 3000lbs. It looked just like your lift. It could curl it but It couldn't lift it outright. I was pretty disappointed. I haven't tried the 4540 yet to see what it will lift. I do like the 4540 better over all than 5555. These tractors are built for midgets too. I always feel like I'm sitting to low on the Mahindra.

I have a 70, 6000 lift big bales fine but you gotta watch you don’t wanna raise them too high in the air on a hillside do you wanna keep it pretty level they have a Tennessee tip it’s right on level ground, watch how you raise it so many people want to raise the bucket in the loader too damn high in the air and then you run into problems

Thanks for the video But I do not recommend buying mahindra. They do not honor their 5yr warranty. The bolts on the right side of my loader backed out and damaged the casting and they would not help. I had to find a special tap and bolts and fix it myself. I have less than 300 hrs now and the hydraulic pump has gotten weak and does not lift as much. Hard to get a decent service manual and parts. Ive had to fix leaking hydraulic lines and change to glow plugs twice. No help from mahindra. Now shifter is causing problems. Dont buy mahindra. I do like the engine though 😁

Oh yea, "Gots me one too", its a 1736m power-shuttle it is almost too fast on the loader lift!. The power is there ALL the time; have to remember to be "blasted up" when lifting. It is the only tractor (also have a bigger kubota) that can lift to the Max, then go over its rated capacity by revving it up to "by-pass" the hydraulic limiting valveing; reason = the pump is HUGE (11.6 gpm on implement power flow)& is the ONLY TRACTOR ( other Massey-Ferguson's included) that have a TRANSMISSION mounted pump driven off another shaft through the transmission. You have a "good one",just remember; everything has a safe lifting limit. Best wishes with all your endeavours.
