Mate, I’m in full Sarma gear today 😉 The cargo trousers (not the outdoor one like yours) and a merino wool polo shirt. I was wearing my windproof smock earlier. Why can’t Fjallraven make their stuff, which is similar quality AND made in Taiwan or Bangladesh to this price range?

Profit margins I bet, this sarma gear is brilliant, best gear I've come across in a long time
@den_bosmens_outdoor3 жыл бұрын
There is a significant difference in quality with Fjallraven gear. But I have both, Sarma and Fjallraven. The G-1000 fabric is actually very different, softer but way stronger. My Sarma trousers ripped on the cargo pocket due a fabric failure, my FJR trousers will probably never do this. BUT the Sarma pair was replaced by the Varusteleka team within nearly 24h from sending the photo of the fault to receiving the replacement at my house. Truly an incredible company that I can only recommend and show support, no doubt!

I have been wearing a pair Varestuleka Särmä trousers / anorak on my weekend of canoeing and camping for about two years now and just ordered a 2nd pair of pants super comfortable strong. I live in Colorado USA and after I bought the Pukko 110 and fell in love with this company. I can’t figure out why good quality gear is so expensive here in the states. So no I just buy from the guys Varestuleka shipping is only $9.95 it’s worth the wait.great review mate cheers from Colorado.

A lot of American companies rebrand and resell stuff like this for double or triple the price. I've pretty much stopped buying "american" clothing and gear because most of it is made in Asia and is junk.

Hello, came across your channel, checking for the Varestuleka Särmä anorak... loving your content. How would you compare the Varusteleka Särmä outdoor pants tot the " Garphyttan Fixar Trouser"? Which would you prefer? cheers !!!
@RedBranchBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
They don't!! The outdoor pants are 3 times better than the fixar trousers. I tested the specialist, fixar trousers and the original anorak on my other channel, I had big issues with them all, the varusteleka gear is well made and we'll priced. From what I saw of the garphyttan it's poorly made and way over priced. Have a look at my original channel it's call Ed Wooly's World, "why I don't recommend garphyttan " is the name of the video

I've tried these pants and anoraks from Sarma and and all of them failed relatively quick. Decent stuff but nothing wow. Made in China. Yes, it's cheap but quality and confort wise are way below Fjallraven. You just can't compare the two, and this is reflected in the price you are paying for it. If you are playing survival man in the park, dressed up in green, than yes, Sarma is for you.

Fjällräven ain't too good, really. It's very hit or miss, where at least the down jackets are good, but range around 450-800 euro, and for that price you might as well go Swazi. The pants from fjällräven are basically just glorified normal "outdoor" pants, you can get much better pants, or even something like Beretta hunting pants with Gore-Tex and mesh lining for the same price, works great in wintertime as well as autumn/early spring in Sweden. TL;DR is - don't buy fjällräven anything, hard maybe on jackets. Overall it's just expensive. It's marketing. This is just my personal take on it, having owned multiple jackets and pants. The general take here in Sweden is that they're just "for people with too much money"
@RedBranchBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Lol, I've never owned any, I just got a pair of the varusteleka wool pants today, they are really nice, I have a series on winter bushcraft gear coming out, starting with gloves, trousers next I think, some nice ones from Ridgeline and Seeland

@@RedBranchBushcraft Browsing through the content, and it's pretty good! I like it when there's reviews of weird surplus or whatever that no-one seems to have done, like that Czech sleeping system (which I'm still a bit interested in buying myself). The accent and the attitude is a big plus! Always a smile and a good laugh, keep up the positive mental attitude! As for content, I'd love to see some more in-depth real world tests of the surplus stuff, really. Especially now with winter around the corner.. maybe a "buschrafting on a budget, winter edition" could be something? Set a max amount of like, 200-250 euros for "everything". That is, base layer/middle/jackets/boots/sleeping system. Prove that you can get into the woods without spending a fortune. For the kids, the less fortunate or basic cheapskates like me
@den_bosmens_outdoor3 жыл бұрын
I must say that their Vidda Pro or Barents trousers have never failed on me. Not many other outdoor trousers outdid them. It all depends on what you use them for, you call them "normal outdoor" pants, well that's what they are... The more technical trousers you mention can not be compared to a simple outdoor pair of pants. A basic pair of hunting trousers of a known brand are sometimes as expensive or even more than FJR. I do agree that their casual wear is quite overpriced, but for their outdoor gear you get value for money. In no way can you compare a FJR Vidda Pro to the Sarma Outdoor version. I know Wooly can't because he has never worn one! 🤣😉🤣😉
