Vasant Lad visits the Taos Hanuman Temple | Hanuman Jayanti and its Significance

On this most auspicious festival day our esteemed teacher Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, founder and director of The Ayurvedic Institute, traveled to the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram & Hanuman temple in Taos, New Mexico, to record this message for you, our dear community!
Hanuman Janmotsav is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of the god Hanuman, who is venerated throughout India and Nepal on this day.
Lord Hanuman is celebrated for his ability to attain victory against evil and provide protection for his followers. Devotees of Lord Hanuman celebrate his presence on this day and seek his protection and blessings. They travel to temples just like the one Vasant Lad visited in Taos, to worship Lord Hanuman and present offerings. In return, devotees receive Prasad from the temple priests in the forms of sweets, flowers, coconuts, tilak, sacred ash (udi) and Ganga jal (holy water).
Hanuman Janmotsav is one of the largest festivals in India, as Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and is widely known for his unflinching devotion to him. This story of kinship and love is beautifully told in one of the most celebrated Sanskrit epics, The Rāmāyana.

"Ram is your pure consciousness.. . that which dwells in everything, so called living and so-called non-living, that energy is Ram, Ram is consciousness, Ram is your soul, Ram is joy, Ram is peace, Ram is bliss, and Ram is awareness" (1:13). . .wow this was amazing! in 10 min I was taken from the (external) Hindi tv serial depiction of this of this ancient (and triggering) story, to a much more internal, psychological understanding of all these characters as metaphors within myself - thank you/ dhanyabad!
