as someone that has owned and built some prerunners. STRONG POWERSTEERING and steering parts, the ruts and shit will rip that steering out of your hands. BUMP STOPS, hydraulic, need em!!!! A-ARM and 4 link, or 3 link, build it like its going to bottom out, cause it will. 15'' RIM is fine on 33''s you need the big sidewalls to soak up small stuff and not make a rattle box, if you were rolling 40'' that would be a different story. but small brakes are fine 33s''' best of luck, i enjoy the channel.

The front hubs off a Jeep Wrangler or Cherokee or Ford F-150 or Bronco from the 90s would work well. The Jeeps have a 5×4.5 lug pattern and the Fords have a 5×5.5 pattern. (Also, Jeep Grand Cherokees have a 5×5 lug pattern from 1999 until today.) 15" wheels are a little small, IMO. I'd go with 17s.

You’re definitely gonna want bigger tires when you start using that thing off-road. Power won’t be an issue with a v8 You have 1000 cc rzrs running 35s no problem. I would use a 17 inch rim has the most tire options.
@ministryofadventure
@ministryofadventure 4 күн бұрын
I suggest running a 16” rim and borrow the hub and brake package from a hummer H3. The factory hydro boost system and stock discs/pads/callipers can stop 37” off-road tires no problem and it’s a tight package. The bolt pattern has a million rim options. Just don’t use the H3 front differential it’s too weak.

Beautiful work. I do think the 33's will end up being a little small personally, and I'd imagine power adders aren't going to be a problem. I think a simple 400hp LS would surprise you with what it can do. And if not, you have every bit of aftermarket support for other options. I'd go with 37's and either 16 or 17" rims I think.
@imperialtekk9443

I say 16" or 17" they make big brake kits for both sizes. Should get yourself a good used set of beadlocks. Also look into 255/70-17 or 255/80-16 they are considered the skinny 33". They track well and great for off-roading and decent at rock climbing.

All serious rock bouncers run 16” or less common 17” rims and at least 40” tires. Brakes that would fit 16” wheels are enough. You wont go very fast in this vehicle, so you don’t need big brakes. You will definitely have to have a a long travel suspension. Find some strong transfer box so you could bash on this thing. Ls engine would be good just put some cams and some other performance upgrades. Axles are the most important thing in a offroad vehicle cuz most of the time those are the weakest point. So a 8 bolt would be a nice strong axle, would advise to not cheap out on axles. Rear one would be solid axle i suppose and the front one would be a independent suspension. Th400 trans would be absolutely fine.

1/2-3/4 ton Chevy front components with manual lockers.Since you aren't competing and using a solid 1-ton axle front and rear. 17" beadlock wheels and 38-40" tires are recommended for Many rock climbing trails, and require 40" at some too. Cage is looking Solid !

with the weight of the thing, you dont need big brakes. there are plenty of performance options for 13" rims that stop race cars weighing closer to 2000lbs, so 15s with decent brakes is more than enough. its probably more a case of whats the best cost, bigger brakes cost more as well as bigger tyres, especially if you're going to go through them quickly

For a trophy truck... think beefy over light weight build.... otherwise you will break it every time you take it out. You're not competing so go for strength over lightweight. It takes a big team and alot of money to get the right balance between light weight and strength for competition.
@baloneyjusticecheezedog

I like how the cage is coming.. The roof looks plenty strong.. I love how you have 6 bar sin the front windscreen area dedicated to keep the roof on. Speaking of the windshield.. How do you plan to do a windshield, and if so.. How? Lexan, acrylic, or steal the windshield and metal around it from another car? I feel like the rolling inertia on 17s will be horrible..The bigger the rim is, the worse it will get.. But the stopping power on something as big as a 15 will allow will be horrible.. Especially since you're 33-inch tires, you need to lock up. Split the difference and go 16, unless you can actually find some dirt racing specific 6 or 8 piston brake calipers. I don't know if dirt will have much effect on this part, or if you need a brake caliper specific to this application.. But this is as much a learning opportunity for me, so it's more of a question than anything else. Also, another though on braking it maybe 2 sets of calipers per wheel if a set of calipers with on 4 pistons is not doing it.. But that's more of a drifter car thing... do you want to be able to lock up any wheels while running over trophies in your Trophy truck? Last 10-15 minute videos are fine.. It's a lot easier on me to watch short video then big long ones I have to maybe stop while doing work. Plus, your focus as a content creator is to put out regular videos.... It's been said the KZbin algorithm will reward you more for maintain a regular schedule rather than just dumping out videos.. (though longer videos will also pay more.. So anything that lets you quickly make content is best. The best thing you can do for yourself though is to try to run a backlog and then release the videos as needed. With a backlog, you can give yourself more time to work on projects, and if you have a few weeks when you might be not able to work on videos, or even take a vacation.. You can let your backlog cover you.
