They are playing draughts, also called international checkers, though on an 8x8 board instead of the usual 10x10. The flying king at the end makes it clear. Ivanchuk has been known to play in official draught tournaments, I would assume he is quite good at it. I've played it, but being used to traditional checkers, I have found international checkers quite difficult.
