Vata imbalance symptoms are those that increase the like. Vata dosha treatment focuses on warming foods and grounding daily practices.
What is the Vata dosha?
The vata dosha is centered around movement. Movement outside the body and also within. Movement of thoughts, experiences, food, digestion, and bodily fluids. Vata is made up of air and ether and is therefore an extremely sensitive, light, mobile body type.
What are vata dosha imbalance signs and symptoms?
- Anxiety, fear, indecisiveness, scatterbrained
- Tremors, spasms, sleepless, worry
- Dry skin and joints
- Bloating, constipation and gas
- Lean/low weight
Recommendations to vata-pacify your diet
Eat sweet, sour and salty foods to bring in balancing elements. Eat at consistent times during the day and listen to your body. Focus on warming and grounding foods like rice, quinoa, root vegetables and juicy fruits.

- Wake with the sun
- Tongue scrape to rid yourself of ama (toxins)
- Meditate for 5 minutes to ground yourself

Do Bhramari pranayam , Surya namaskar and use cows ghee to balance vata and pitta. Avoid hot spicy and dry food. Eat little bit less when you feel hungry

I have a vata dosha, and throughout my life, I always felt very light and all over the place. I started doing the practices that you mentioned, and it really made me feel better. Abhyanga is so good. I really love it now. Also, what works for me is stillness. It really grounds me. Thanks for the video.

Hey Clare! Beautiful work. I discovered that I am a VP type, not sure though. I watched Vatta symptoms as well as pitta symptoms, and i think i have an imbalance of both. It would be great if you can make a similar playlist for Vatta Pitta dosha too!

Thankyou! Yes, i do eat too many lentils....will take note & eat more root vegetables.....ive also found just a teaspoon of warm castor oil before bed helps with the bloating and constipation.

Wonderful information. I am very Vata dominant with Pitta...Huge problem is my sleep cycle....Only about 4-5 hours of interrupted sleep. Should I eat something - with turmeric milk latte before bed? I'm tired and oh soooo constipated as well. Is the rice really okay for me.(rice pudding sounds good?) I do enjoy a butternut/squash/yam soup that includes coconut creme w/cinnamon, ginger....I feel limited in what I can eat and wonder if eggs are okay...Great info....I will stick to doing Qi Gong more in the a.m. to start my day. God Bless. You...I am 82 yrs old...

Hi Clare, I am overwhelmingly Vata dosha and have only to look at Astringent foods for my mouth to dry out so much that I can hardly speak! I am concentrating now on Sweet, Sour and Salty. Corn is on your AVOID list ..... so does this include Sweetcorn please? And most herbs and Spices including Ginger and Turmeric seem all to be Bitter, Astringent or Pungent which aggravates me further - is there sweet, sour, salty herbs and spices that are balancing for Vata ? Thank You

My age 26 and my height 5.7 weight 82 and I am facing problem of low energy to much sleeping 🛌 and overthinking , anxiety , not able to make decisions , headaches , overheating in body much stomach always look heavy and week memory on high level please help me how can I balance it this is my problem

If I start working on system for some time, I get join pains in my finger joint especially index finger...pain and uncomfort on hands...please suggest solution......my body is already pitta type as I take seasme seeds, raggi my body gers heated up and top of it, I have vatta dosha seems to be...both are making my life abnormal...I started taking ashwagandha but it was increasing heat in the body making problems worst

Hey Clare! What should I do about wheat and gluten? Is it okay to eat, does it depend, should I go for a certain type or quality of wheat? If you eat it, does it affect you?

Hi there! Like most things, the highest quality will be best for the body and mind, but choose intuitively on what feels right for you. Whole wheat is usually better. I personally have celiac, so I don't eat wheat, but that's just my body. Everyone is different and absorbs things differently. I would recommend trying a few that you feel called towards, and notice how each affects your body and mind, and then go from there. :)

I think wheat is ok, whole wheat best. I listened to Dr John McDougall's videos - the real problem is animal proteins, dairy foods, fats. I do well on starches. #McDougall Program #starch-based #WFPB

Yup! Vata's want to focus on sweet, sour and salty taste. Dates drizzled with tahini, cooked sweet potato wedges with guacamole, nuts cashews, almonds, Golden milk, stewed fruit. :)

In the case of a Vata and/or Kapha imbalance it will be the best to take several times during the week early in the morning on an empty stomach 1 tablespoon (= 15 ml) castor oil. You will be astonished upon the effects!

Hey Clare, I have that grey tongue but mostly it's a white coating, I thought it could be oral thrush? I use a tounge scraper every morning and i've started using my electric toothbrush across it. So i've been doing the anti candida diet only that's pretty restrictive long term, I'm still eating vata pacifying foods mostly too. I believe I have an auto immune condition called sjogrens syndrome with the common symptoms being dry mouth, dry eyes, dry lips and skin, I have all of these symptoms, plus I have coeliac disease, which I think I heard you say you also have? You're probably then heard of the 'leaky gut?' well i'm curently going down the path of healing this, it may already be healed as i eat gluten free but there's no harm in making sure. I also have ADHD, so i'm thinking is this all linked to a leaky gut through for example candida or something else, or is it all actually due to my vata dosha being inbalanced?
