This is pure gold. I had the brilliant idea of turning auto sub titles on to help me note down all the key phrases. My favourite is at about 11:04 "taxi the whole point fox drop one fire the undone apron". This makes a lot of sense, the apron would be undone if it got fired by dropping one... In all seriousness, very useful guide, thank you!

Thanks for these videos. They are super helpful to a new VATSIM pilot who’s slowly finding their way back into aviation after a life changing injury. I’m hoping to fly a real PA-28 via a disability flight charity in the future. The sim has helped me to learn the basis of the aircraft and rebuild my confidence in procedures and processes. Even if it does feel a little yelling clear prop sat at my desk :) Thanks again for all your videos. Your style and approach is very accessible and engaging. I was wondering if you have real life flight experience or ambitious to gain a PPL etc in the future?

Where did you find the charts for the circuit?

real paper charts - the UK particularly is bad for online charts certainly for VFR

I noticed that you use "GPR" as the shorthand callsign. Out here in the colonies we would use "SPR" as the shorthand, both real life and Vatsim. My opinion is that the "G" is pretty well understood as the first letter in a British callsign (C in Canada and N in the US), so pretty well redundant. Is the convention different in the UK? Do you know if it's different in continental Europe?
@BritishAvgeek3 жыл бұрын
It's similar in Europe to the UK - I guess in the US it would be similar but if the reg was N1234C it would just be N-4C shortened? You'd know better than me!
@kevincusack56713 жыл бұрын
@@BritishAvgeek Over here the shorthand would be 34C.

@@kevincusack5671 ahhh yes - that rings a bell actually... certainly no offence taken either it's good to know - I've never flown in the US so things like that I don't pick up on 🙂 It's definitely a US thing. In the UK the callsign convention is the G identifier plus the last 2 letters as I show in this video. If two similar Regs are present then they have to use the full reg.

Just found this channel (no idea why, I've been watching flight sim videos for years). I don't want to be 'that guy', and I know this is super critical, but you wouldn't abbreviate your callsign until the controller has - so if they reply G-OSPR you would reply with the full callsign too. Only when they call you G-PR can you do the same. And when speaking to a new controller you always give your full callsign. Of course this is the point at which you tell me you know this and that you're a pilot in real life too :D
@BritishAvgeek2 жыл бұрын
