@@gabbo7101 For the majority of those it might be the case, but even then I've seen a fair number of people go into rather detailed although messed up arguments about why they see him as the good guy. Or alternatively you will have people that will concede that he is the intended villain of the story but still say that he "had the right idea". Though I guess part of it is also that a lot of people tend to simp for supposedly smart characters, even when they actually do really dumb shit that makes no sense.

@@gabbo7101 Problem with all of the smart characters in the story though is that the whole plot relies heavily on extreme coincidences and leaps of logic, so it is a bit hard to actually say how much of it is intended character flaws or just the authors failing to write them as rational. For example it might have been Light's narcissism that screwed him over when he walked into L's trap during L's introduction in the story, but that whole plan L had never made any logical sense to begin with either. It is like he had an Alex Jones level conspiracy theory that just happened to be correct by complete chance.

I was a cable guy for 5 years. People want to act all incredulous about dirty rooms / houses, but I can confirm--at least anecdotally--that its super common. I was generally entering about 10 houses a day, give or take a few depending on the day, and I'd say that maybe at most a third of the homes I saw were accurately described as being 'clean', the middle third were somewhere on the spectrum between 'needs a quick clean' and 'dirty', and the bottom third were hoarders that ranged from 'this place is gross' to 'sorry sir / madame the cable company won't allow me to enter your house because its too hazardous'. I met a person with more than a dozen dachshunds, maybe even two dozen I couldn't count, who literally never let them outside. The first tech that went out refused to enter because the smell was so bad he thought it might be a genuine hazard to his health. A supervisor came and did a site inspection and found--when looking into the crawlspace beneath the home from outside--that one of the rooms was so compromised by urine/feces the subflooring was melting like wax and the joists were spongy / rubbery. As long as all that crap on your floor isn't literal garbage (or urine/feces) and you don't have bugs... I just don't judge anymore. Live how you want, clean or don't clean. Doesn't matter to me.
