Excellent selections guys. I did show the Ian Carr "Belladonna" two videos ago. I loved it. Sounds great. Super shout-out to Stavros on the Lewis Taylor album. I miss Stav. But I did get to hang out with him in Boston which was one heck of a day. I have not heard from him in a bit. I will give him a call. I wish you both a very Merry Christmas. I do hope you both continue to post in the new year. You are consistently enjoyable and essential to all of our collections. Catch up soon~ Rob/Boston

I agree with you John. When I went to Birdland I was surprised how small it was. Love the Eremite label Mark. I have been getting a lot of their CDs direct from the label owner who is now in Arizona. I found that ECM Motian for 4 bucks here. Dig that record. Great Carr Belladonna LP. I picked up that same reissue John. I think it is on Mr Bongo. The Don Cherry book is fantastic. Love his wife’s artwork. Sorry to hear about the Covid situation there. It’s getting bad here again quickly as well unfortunately. Stay safe. Peace.

Greetings, John and Mark, love that artwork by Ella!. I discovered Nate Smith, when he played on two Dave Holland albums on the Dare 2 label. Dave covers one tune by him, ''The Leak''. I have that Evan Parker/ Gregg Goodman album, sometimes Gregg plays ''unprepared'' piano. I love all Alice Coltrane, not just her Impulse stuff. Her last album, ''Translinear Light'', is majestic, when she plays with Ravi, on the title track, my eyes fill with tears. Paul Motian grew up, here, in Rhode Island, years ago I tried to ''find'' his sister, who lived in Cranston, R.I. He wrote a song titled, '' The Owl Of Cranston'', he was inspired by an owl that he spotted in her tree. I never found his sister or the owl. I gave Don Cherry and Ed Blackwell, a ride in my car, after a gig. I played a cassette tape by Black Uhuru, ''Chill Out'', during the trip. Don drew an autographed drawing on the back of the concert poster, I didn't discover it until 3 months later. He borrowed my pen, but never told me why, with that same pen, Blackwell wrote down his home phone number. Ed was teaching at Wesleyan University and I visited him often. Don and Ed were two of the nicest people I ever met.

Hi Michael. I'll tell Ella. Wonderful story about Cherry and Blackwell. Somehow not surprised that they were great people to know. Agree with you about Translinear Light. Beautiful. Her music does really get to me too. I can hardly get through Rama Rama on the Ecstatic Music record without welling up. I really enjoy the Uncle Paul's Jazz Closet podcasts put together by Motian's niece Cindy McGuirl. Maybe she's seen the owl? All best wishes to you

Happy Christmas to you both. Strange to hear Lewis Taylor hasn't been selling. I remember they delayed the release to make extra copies. It seems lewis is destined ro be greeted with complete worship or casual indifference. Another great year of vids. Thanks

Hi Laurence. Yes I hope it's not true and that the Lewis is selling well. Then it will the more likely then that he makes some new music. I remember doing a marketing panel at a music industry conference years ago where a particularly wise old owl said that the UK equivalent of Prince would have ended up stacking shelves in Tesco. Maybe we can only cope with a certain amount of genre crossing? Hope you're very well

Hi Chaps. Looks like it’s gonna be another Lockdown Christmas. Do you think we have enough records to get us through? 😉 I’ve caught on several of both of your shows over the past week or so. Keep ‘em coming! Mark, your Robbie Shakespeare tribute was a treat 👌. Cheers! John
