Yes, I am making my way through my friends list and catching up on videos from over the past two weeks, and HERE YOU GUYS ARE... I can't tell you how jazzed I am to see you two together. John: I've seen that Model Shop record in store recently (that Sundazed reissue) and didn't even think of picking it up Mark: That's a great Ginger Baker record, JuJu is a fantastic track; talk about a funky-ass jam. I know he produced for Fela but I didn't know he lived in Nigeria that long. John, glad to see you show that Zappa record. That's my second favorite Zappa album of all time. Bozio is in "rare form" on that record; both musically and personality-wise. lol, ... Also, can't say a bad word about any of John Legend's albums. Also, I just picked up that Jeff Parker & NB record (just right after I appeared with you guys on video). ...Did you show that in our video?... I can't remember. It's a fantastic follow up from his album titled "The New Breed"; I believe that one was dedicated to his Dad, and this one was dedicated to his Mom?? I think that's correct, no? Ooh Mark, Mmmm, mmmm, The Undisputed Truth "Method To The Madness"... nice pick! That's a GOOOOD album. I like Spaced Out; that's my favorite track on that record... little bit of The Temptations, little bit of Sly Stone, little bit of Edwin Starr.... funky. And there is no going wrong with "The Dude" whatsoever. I was just talking about 7" 45rpm Reggae singles, today, with Jon over at BipBopBoom channel. I have a fixation for 7" Reggae and related Genre singles. You two are the only ones (that I know) that I've ever seen show Lewis Taylor stuff. Looking forward to the next one guys. Cheers to you both - TONE

Hi gents, good to see the dynamic duo back together again. I hope the cheese and wine were flowing.. Glad you are still enjoying the Walter Heath album….. it’s my find of 2021. Keep up the good work…

Absolutely - a rare night time video so collateral impact of the wine and cheese was very visible!

Look who are back together! Cool to see it finally happened. Typing this at the end of the video, it's hard to remember which albums I've seen. So many records, definitely more than seven each :) Great stuff John and Mark. Cheers. /Paul

Hello Mark/Hello John. I just left you guys the most amazing detailed comment. I hit something on my keyboard and the thing got backspaced out. I do not have the time unfortunately to come up with everything again because I would be late for work. But I will say that it is great to see you both back in the same room. I got to break out my Undisputed Truth and that Wes Montgomery album. I rediscovered so many killer albums when I was setting up my news shelves in the music room. After I show a short video on my Mighty Blimp bootleg collection I will update the music room. Have a great Monday. Not a manic Monday I hope. Did you guys know that the image on this was backwards? But the two of you still look fantastic. Talk soon~ Rob/Boston

Hi Rob - Weather wise it was a calm Monday after a near biblical weekend. I think a lot of us are having those at the moment. Was good to be back and I hope all's good with you .... and the the Mighty Blimp of course

Fantastic to see you two together again! Reunited and it feels so good...definitely calls for a round or two! The return of Portuguese tarts as well. Magnificent Syreeta album, I got my copy of that off a friend who put together the MoWest compilation on Light In The Attic Records...I've had that Jesse Colin Young but think I've since passed it on. Cheers guys!

Sic transit gloria mundi-except it didn’t as the boys are back in harness. Awesome to wake up to this. Sylvian embellishes any session super track that. John I presume you know the SUPERB b-sides that we’re on both maxi-cd singles of that track. Really good. I got that Syreeta at a dig in May lovely stuff. Ha ha ha I actually bought that Baker because of Bobby Gass playing on it. I brought it to his gig at the Cork jazz festival hoping to get him to sign it with text such as “Bobby, you played shite on this” which I planned to give to auld Bobby baby. Of course the old curmudgeon (Baker that is) didn’t do greetings so I gave Bobby the unsigned copy. LOL. Got some really nice folk finds at a huge fair yesterday which I managed to squeeze in between the Boxing, the soccer and the hurling on the telly. Very surprised no carrot sticks accompanied the 2 culinary staples!
@drrhythmn2 жыл бұрын
That's a great Ginger Baker story! I thought of you when I saw the Bobby Gass credit on the album. The carrots made an appearance on the coleslaw that accompanied the lamb and mint burger early on in the day! Great to hear from you Ben - glad you have been enjoying the feast of sport too...

The end of side 2 is bizarro world on that Ginger Baker but the Fela tracks are great. Funny turns out Jon and I were at the same Derek Trucks show before we knew each other and there might have been only 30 people there. Great to see you both in the same room. And all was right in the World again.

With all the recent relaxations of the Covid rules, seeing you both back together is the most reassuring of all. Wonderful video with so much to follow up. I love that Bert Jansch record John. I’ve also gone down the Bill Frisell road quite a long way now. Great stuff. You are right about those D&B 12”s. Prices going crazy. I sold most of my LTJ Bukem records about three years ago and miss them very much. Been trying to find them since. I often pick up trance etc 12” if I see them. Mind you, not much of that around Brecon. Johnny Guitar Watson’s Space Guitar is one of my favourite instrumentals - his early stuff is killer. All the best guys, great to see you both together again. Cheers, Steve.

Hi Chaps. Another excellent session. That Jesse Colin Young track has a fantastic groove to it, and both the Syreeta and Tom Brock albums are corkers. I’ve actually never heard the Lewis Taylor album in full. Need to get the Be With reissue cheers. John

Great to see you both in same room. Some great choices. Unfortunately bit if constructive criticism the video is spoilt as all the covers are mirrored. In some phones you can change the settings so this doesn't happen. Cheers Andy

Good to see you again Mark and John. Glad you mentioned arrangers such as Gene Page. Arrangers are so important to the essence of a recorded song, especially during the 70s and early 80s. Barry White's music with Gene Page were great orchestral recordings. I really liked his Unlimited Gold label which did not do well; I think some of his BEST Songs were recorded during that time with CBS. Thanks again. Please talk about arrangers sometimes. Al
@omniversal72 жыл бұрын
We love arrangers. There's a book to be written there I think!? I agree that Barry White made the transition into the 80s really well but I think everyone else had sadly gone elsewhere by then. All best wishes John

Dark Star is such an amazing yatch rock tune. It's one of the best things they've ever done. Nice Jansch LP. That Dinner Party LP sounds interesting. Jeff Parker is great. That UK jazz comp is very good but a bit pricey here. I may still get it. Syreeta is a favourite. Nice to see gents.
@drrhythmn2 жыл бұрын
Weird - could have sworn I'd already replied to your comment Fred...anyway - a Gimme 10 yacht rock episode would be most welcome - anyone done one yet? The splatter vinyl on the Dinner Party album does not enhance the audio experience - so try before you buy on that one..Syreeta is stellar! Thanks for tuning in

Well you were slightly inebriated in a back-to-front kind of a way but at least you had full screen as occasionally I balls up and go widescreen.
