Mark, the blues on fire. John, the reds feelin' the blues. England & France rugby superb wins , and we beat the All Blacks. Then there was Crawford and Andrade's performances in the squared circle and that incredible F1 win in Brazil. What a super 2 weeks of sports! Bought that Zappa boxset (cd) in Glasgae last year, big fan of his instrumentals, but when it comes to his vocals/lyrics - mheh! Love that ATCQ track, from my favourite release by them, such a party LP! And it grooves! Take care buachailli.

Hard to admit that the Chelsea performance on Saturday was almost frightening. They strolled around for 90 minutes in complete control and Leicester barely touched the ball. The All Blacks game was extraordinary. Liking the new look Ireland very much, and also liking my Blue blokes over the Channel very much too. Oh the music .... Frank is just Frank! Hope that you and yours are all very well Ben. j

Great great session as usual. How awesome it would be to take a pile of records and book a flight. I think I have a Holliday planed out in the future!

Hi Mark and John. I was also blown away by the performances on Summer Of Soul. Unique piece of history newly discovered. Got that Vertaal record, seems to be flying a bit under the radar. Another great show. Hope you two meet again soon. Cheers. /Paul

Hi Paul - thanks for dropping by! Summer of Soul is exceptional! Very worthy of all the awards and nominations it's currently receiving. I was going to mention the Vertaal album to you - right up your street. Another under the radar EP of this year is by a band called JAB - have you come across them? Cheers Mark

@@drrhythmn Don't know JAB. Just looked it up JAB Currents EP. I'm really on the fence with the new Cleo Sol. Just sampled it again. So good, but also so expensive. Hope a good deal comes along this weekend. /Paul

Hello there John and Mark. It is so good to see you guys doing another VC Session. The perfect post for this Saturday evening. Time to kick back and see what you guys have been spinning. I am sure that I will be inspired to spin one or two of them after I finish watching. Be back in a few~ Rob/Boston

Mark and John, absence makes the heart grow fonder, miss you guys, always a good session. Nice to see you in the ''non- social, distancing'' format. I said, ''non-social'', not ''anti- social'', just for the record, in case you're wondering. I remember telling folks, ''No, not that Michael Jackson!''. Spencer Barefield is another unknown guitar player from that era.When Pat Martino died, I played his ''Joyous Lake'' album, Kenwood Dennard is the drummer on that, he's fantastic. Kenwood also played with Michael Gregory Jackson. Another classic, ''instrumental'' guitar album from Zappa, is the archive release, ''Trance- Fusion''. I'm a fan of post- Lowell George, Little Feat, the core members, along with vocalist Craig Fuller were still a good time, saw them live too.

Hi Michael - Spencer Barefield!! Another great guitarist with his own sound. I saw him with Roscoe Mitchell back in the 70s. Agree with you completely about Kenwood. Incredible drummer who is badly served on record. Either not recorded or really badly recorded. His solo album with Marcus Miller has some great playing but ruined by some horrible 80s production. I really need to check out post-Lowell Little Feat. Must admit that I stopped paying them much attention after Lowell left us. What do you recommend?
@michaelvalentini48692 жыл бұрын
@@omniversal7 John, I enjoy '' Let It Roll'' and '' Representing The Mambo'', their last two Warner Bros. albums. Michael Brecker is on one tune from ''Representing...". I also like Lowell George's ''Thanks, I'll Eat It Here''

I did not know that the great Pat Martino passed away. I do have that album. I was watching a clip of him playing with John Schofield. Man was it great. Who is the sax player named Sam that John showed at the 5:18 mark? I could not make out his last name. Gladys Knight is also a standout artist for me Mark. I will go as far to say that she has one of the best soul voices out there. Wow. Some great players on the Hubert Laws. We used to see Average White Band play at a local club on Nantasket Beach in Hull called Uncle Sam's. They never disappointed. Those Blue Note reissues sell out fast. Excellent and I mean excellent session gents. Enjoyed it to the fullest. I wish you both a nice relaxing Sunday~ Rob/Boston

Hello Rob! Very good to hear from you. The sax player is Sam Gendel. Very interesting player. He clearly has technique to spare but doesn't show off at all. Rather than the album I showed I'd actually recommend downloading Fresh Bread from Bandcamp first. Total feast!
