James was a super guest to have on the show guys. Loved seeing the music that you all shared once again. I think today is Halloween. Although I am not a fan of the fall and winter I want to wish you all a Happy Halloween. Way to go Mark, John and James~ Rob/Boston

Hi guys! Great to see you three connect. Last week also got the new MildLife. Curious to listen to the new Sault records. Have to seek out Mul Holland Drive, never seen it. All the best. Cheers. /Paul

Great to see all these meeting videos. And now, James. Super cool records :-) Paz, really cool UK club dance jazz scene stuff as you know. Lovely stuff. Sault! I have that Berne, really excellent. cheers guys

Just discovered this venture, and I love it, right up my alley, especially since I probably got as much disco as I do own free improv ^^

James has slipped into a bit of dubwise effects round about the time of the Light Of Saba record ;-) wish I had picked that up on vinyl at the time, not cheap to come by now (though still more affordable than originals!) so my CD will likely have to do...that one is culled from their single LP's, I had a bit of a panic a while back as my cd-r copy of their first album had developed some skips and tics when I tried to play it again...luckily I was able to burn a new disc which seems fine...fabulous group! Cedric Brooks brings so many influences together in an intriguing whole. The Blue Note book looks amazing. Just discovering the Black Jazz catalogue through some of the current reissues, digging what I am hearing so far. Cheers guys!

Hi! Great to see James together with Mark & John! I agree with you about Black Jazz, I've had a few titles on the label and they were just average. Yes, Per-Henrik Wallin! I was right when I thought you would like it John, so cool to hear you talk about him. The trio records with Hultcrantz and Dahlbäck from late 70s and early 80's are also insane, highly recommended! Great to hear that you have the one on Caprice James! Always nice to see Frisell records, he is one of my true heros, and I hope all of his 90's and 00's stuff will some out on high quality vinyl, so many great records that's only on cd.

Hi Anders. Yes Wallin has been really hitting the spot recently. I've also got the Live @ Fasching record (hopefully) on it's way. Hope you're all well!

Hi James, some Disco recommendations... Odyssey.. Aquarian Dream...Players Association...Patrice Rushen...Love Unlimited Orchestra. If you like it cheesy then Honeymoon In Puerto Rico by Paul Jabara is fantastic.

As far as disco, definitely I would have recommended Leroy Burgess (and LOGG for example), and Patrick Adams etc...That napoli comp is really cool. Obscure stuff, that region in Italy was pretty big into boogie-disco stuff. Some of these are hard to find outside italy. I only have the Oro lp from that comp. I would love to find the Sorrentino lp, really rare. I'm also pretty into italo disco, but it's another genre of music than this. cheers

Glad you enjoyed the Richard Evans album... your right if you look at the notes on 70s albums his name always seems to show up... I just found him on another one today. Lovely gene page too, snap!

That Richard Evans rabbit hole was a wonderful place to excavate - thank you for the inspiration!

I found that Gene Page album in the 50 centimes bin just last week. The cover doesn't inspire over-confidence but you are dead right about the level of musicianship - incredible playing.

I have never heard of NZ disco, really interesting James, what is the name of the comp?

Lovely to see y’all together. I was very unaware of Roscoe Weathers, that one definitely made my want list. I also don’t have a lot of Cecil McBee, I’ve been sporadically interested in his stuff, but this one definitely struck my interest. I actually just ordered Mildlife “Automatic” based off of Fred’s recent recommendation. I’m right on board with John; that is a fantastic Andrew Hill Trio record, just fantastic. A record I inherited from my dad. Mark, I actually saw that Chiminyo record in store at Ameoba records here in Hollywood just recently upon their reopen and totally passed it by; had no clue what it was, but I am going to try and take a listen and possibly go back and pick it up. Another great session. Thanks gentlemen. - TONE

Cheers Tone - really appreciate all your thoughts and comments on the last few vids. Check out the Chiminyo - it's certainly original - a touch bombastic at times!

Hi Tone - Just goes to show that great records can have covers that look like pictures in a dentist waiting room .... I've only been to Amoeba once. Now that's a record shop!

@@omniversal7 John, haha, yes, I definitely have some records with absolutely atrocious covers that are fantastic listens. Ameoba if definitely the worlds epitome of independent "record store grandeur". Good to hear from you John. - TONE

Hi Chaps. Great to see James join you for a session - quality is restored! Nice to see Revolution In The Head. I haven’t looked at that in years. Will have to dig out my copy. I’m intrigued by the I Am Panda record. Gonna have to listen to that online. It sounds like an interesting concept. Hang on a minute, James. Only just watched The Godfather? Does that mean that you haven’t seen Parts 2 & 3 yet? Man, you’ve got it all ahead of you! I think Coppola has just recut Part 3, which will appear at some point. And Mulholland Drive is pretty wonderful too. Cool pics.

I think you mean quality has been maintained John! Check out I am Panda - bridges the gap between electronic and analog music - no quantising but a lot of midi!

Oh boy this channel just got windy. If Chris doesn’t know it then it never existed. Lol. Added The Light of Saba to the want list. Virtual Shadow Ensemble is fantastic indeed. Was stoked to get a copy so quickly from NZ. I got a copy of that Dig Mag. James mentions our bald friend in Melbourne. Great session here gentlemen. This made my Friday evening here in lockdown.
