Wonderful video guys. So many great records. I actually got up earlier this morning just so I could watch this before everyone woke up. Just me, the dog and a cup of tea. Glorious. Off to hunt down some of your recommendations now. Take care all. Oh, great George Clinton story - really made me chuckle.

I agree with you John. Dionne Warwick's "Track of the Cat" Lp produced and arranged by the great Thom Bell is one of his best. The album did not receive large publicity; however, this LP featured Thom Bell at his best!! Thanks for showing it John. Also, check out, if you haven't yet, Bill Wither's last studio LP 1985's "Watching You, Watching me." I always enjoyed it as one of his best productions. Thanks again for a great show as always. Al

Thanks Al. Track of the Cat is indeed a hidden gem. I have Watching You as a single but not the LP so I've just picked up a copy on Discogs. Thanks for the heads up! All best John

Was a treat too see the longest video probably ever in John's videography..😃.. Been enjoying that prince box online. Nice too hear the unreleased stuff in great quality and clarity.. Again confirms what I have always known the most gifted popular musician of all time. 86-88 is simply his peak when he could toss off great material at will. Love count the days off rainbow children..al green meets hip hop! Very enjoyable to see an all uk edition..😃..much love chris

What a great session boys. Jealous of Prince box set and I love that Spirit soundtrack. Mark always shows mind-expanding yet somehow depressing reads. Wish there were more people willing to learn new things rather than stay in their echo chambers. Cheers gents. Always a pleasure

Thanks again for the amazing selection of records Stavros - slowly working my way through them - loving the Psychic Temple 111 right now! Yes - we need to keep our minds open and listen and try to understand as wide a range of ways of seeing as possible right now - the echo chamber is no place to stay if we want to develop....

Bloody great stuff, this was my favourite one yet (not that we should be playing favourites!). I would love to come visit one day and do something like this in person. 'Over egging the pudding' is one of the most British sayings I've heard in a long time. I've talked about it a few times before but Mark, I really recommend Fletcher Moss Park by Halsall.

Thanks James - it was a lovely session - maybe one day you will be able to join us in the flesh! I will certainly check out Fletcher Moss Park - Mathew Halsall is certainly bringing something new to the contemporary 'spiritual' sound - excellent vinyl pressing too!

@@drrhythmn You boys never lack integrity! Oddly a few hrs ago I went to a USA charity shop and came away with about 50 minty fresh out of a shop original early 70's soul classics. You chaps would be in heaven at times in the South, full of old 'black' folks who die off and think Christian thrift stores - dime a dozen here - are the place for their vinyls from 65-75 to rest in temporary peace. But maybe wait until Trump's 4th Reich crumbles, if it does!

Great video guys, so much fun! Great guest, one of my favs. The neal francis looks definitely interesting, very cool from Stavros. This is also probably my fav Bill withers, John! I've heard good reviews on the nubya, I'll check it out. That spirit...never heard of this. Not one, but two picture discs...lol, Sh#t happens!! I found this shuggie at the london records exchange...I still have that annoying sticker on it :-) / I used to have two ogs copies of rainbow children (sold one a few months prior to his death...and you now what happened to the prices of these records after that...) One of my fav prince lps definitely! We spend (with a couple of prince fans friends) an entire day listening to the new complete Sign of the times cds two days ago...mindblowing experience! I knew his stuff from crystal ball and dream factory, but I've discovered some never heard before tracks....fantastic!!! Score on the harriott! Even scratched, for a buck..../My fav halsall (I've heard) is fletcher moss park, excellent artist. JR bailey is one of these cult soul-rare groove lps, I must get the reissue. McCoy tyner on milestone...just amazing stuff really. I congratulate you for the books, it's fine to see people questioning a bit the mainstream and politically correct narrative in this world. Cheers guys

Hey Mark and John, I am just catching up on your Community Session videos; starting with the most recent and am working my way back. I really love that Neal Francis record. I was turned on to him by listening to a very popular independent radio station here in Los Angeles which plays very ecclectic finds (radio station is KCRW in Los Angeles). I would recommend you listen to the station online between 11pm -2am almost daily Pacific Standard Time (which would be your morning time), I know youd get a lot out of it. Link to the stations website below. I have been trying to get a copy of that Cleo Sol record but I haven't been able to lock down a copy here in the states. Good Scritti Politti record the other John showed. Looking forward to the next. - TONE

Thanks for another fantastic session. I was just listening to Spirit's ''Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus'' today. You reminded me that I still have yet to pick up the Spirit box set that includes that soundtrack and singles that were not on any of the original albums. Duke's ''Liberian Suite'' is an early masterpiece, that surely influenced Sun Ra.Great to see ''Sign Of The Times'' box set/ reissue, I really need that one! I overlooked so many great bands from the 1980's, I thought they were all ''pablum''.I just discovered the wonders of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, they wanted to be a blend of ABBA and Stockhausen, which to me sounds like a quite admirable goal. Scritti Politti is next, thanks to you, John. I 'm a big fan of Traffic, thanks for showing Capaldi's solo work, I never owned any solo work by him. I can recommend the album,''Beyond Quantum'', a trio recording of Braxton with William Parker and drummer Milford Graves, it's perfect, from start to finish.

Great selections guys. . Not got the new Prince but just heard some on his YT channel. Can I Play With U? & In A Large Room With No Light finally released! Re Clinton, a drummer friend hung with him & the band after a show in Atlanta and he said they were all “chilling” to folksy psych acoustic guitar music. He was expecting some heavy funk.

Absolutely fantastic session Mark, John and John. John has always been one of my favorites to watch in the VC. Like the two of you he shows a lot of funk, soul and reggae. May I also go on record as saying he has the best video intro. All great suggestions. That Neal Francis from Stav looked interesting. John reminded me to finish the sale of a Funkadelic album that I had in my Discogs cart. Thank you John. {smile} Also thanks again Mark/John. Wonderfully presented once again. Hope you both do not mind that I promoted your 'Sessions' in the video that I posted last Friday. Added you to the description too. I am hoping that it generates more VC members watching it.
