@Deadite9405

I feel like the main use case for this is with smaller impact wrenches to effectively turn them into normal impact drivers. For example, the M12 FUEL 3/8" or 1/2" impact wrenches are pretty similar form factors to the M12 FUEL impact driver, but they have more power. As a small engine mechanic, I end up running sockets constantly, but since I also repair electric power tools, I need to run 1/4" hex bits all the time as well. The 1/4" hex to 3/8" and 1/2" square adapters work fine, but I've seen people snap socket adapters. This looks like it's got to be at least as sturdy as the collet on an impact driver, and the overall tool length would be about the same as the impact driver too. I love the M12 FUEL impact driver I already have and have no plans to switch away from it, but if I didn't already own it and was trying to decide between the impact driver or one of the impact wrenches, this type of accessory would be a pretty compelling reason to go with the impact wrench instead of the impact driver from the start.

Dude, I was watching a KZbin video about how important a title is for a KZbin video, as are many other aspects of a video, and while listening to some of the examples given, I thought of this channel. Obviously, all of this is my opinion. Overall, you create videos that are both entertaining and instructive. My main concern is how often you guys use titles like this video has, “Don’t Buy this DEWALT Tool Accessory. Seriously”. Presumably your goal is to catch someone’s attention and make them want to watch the video, and for me it has worked. But I think like anything we need to be careful about how often we use a particular formula. Even prior to watching the video about how we can make our KZbin videos stand out, I was beginning to become frustrated that just like this video does I feel like it’s deceptive and not totally honest. The title seems so dramatic, and because it’s concerning a tool brand that I like, it makes me want to find out what this tool accessory is that I shouldn’t buy why I should Buy it except when I watch the video, it’s basically a review of the accessory. There’s no reason given as to why someone shouldn’t buy it. I start the video thinking, oh my God, DEWALT must have really screwed up. I start the video and realize it they got me again. I know this sounds like I’m being critical, which I guess I am, but hopefully you are able to reframe it to “this guy enjoys my videos enough, and cares about me enough that he took the time to provide feedback”. If I thought it was all just crap, I would not even bother to comment. So thank you for all that you do.

I bought this in combination with the DCF894 after a job where I was afraid my impact driver would melt in my hand, I wanted a reliable way driving really long thick screws or deck screws for extended periods of time and figured this would make for a good combo, and though my impact wrench has paid for itself in car work mostly, it's still great to have a really meaty back-up should something come up.

I was wandering around lowes the other day and I found this by accident, someone had left it out in a conspicuous spot. This adapter immediately made complete sense to me. I thought of the stud packs that, as an electrician, I have to drill through ( 4 to 6 2x6 s) is not easy to do. I use my kobalt (non xtr 1/2 impact wrench) to drill through these stud packs. I found if you use # 12 solid wire through that hole in the adapter through the 1/2 anvil that you put the sockets usually go on, drawing back the bit out of the wood isn't an issue any longer. Just FYI.

I had one of these adaptors before, a 1/4 hex to a drill style keyless chuck. Basically got it so that I could use my small impact with traditional style drill bits and allen keys that I cut myself at a production job that didn't have a quick connect end. They don't replace the proper tool or proper bits, but can be useful in unique situations or when you don't have or don't wanna lug around your entire tool box.

Old video, but whatever, I'm going to share my very specific use for this tool. I'm an agricultural/utility fencing contractor here in the UK. Fitting gates I would have use for a large cordless drill, large impact wrench and smaller impact driver. Instead I use a 7/16 drive lineman's impact. Large augers fit straight into the 7/16 for easy boring through the 8-10 inch posts. I carry an adapter for 1/2 drive sockets that I use for the hinge hardware, and this adapter for smaller augers sometimes needed for hardware fits on timber gates. One tool instead of 3, more efficient and less to carry

With the adapter I take it under the car put it on the 3/8" impact wrench then use a screw bit and remove the bottom protection plate from the car, saves me from having two tools, I can basically use one tool to do everything. And if I need to drive screws around the house it's there and don't need to buy an impact driver 👌

I have the Milwaukee 3/8 sq to 1/4 hex. I know it’s not the exact adapter reviewed on this video but they are basically the same thing. It stays in my tool box. When working on cars under the hood if I need to drive a screw that I don’t have a socket to fit. I pop it on. Reason being I keep my wood working tools separate from my automotive tools. Inevitably if I use my impact driver on my vehicles I’ll get grease on them and that grease will wind up on wood projects. It was way cheaper to buy an adapter instead of a second impact driver for automotive use. My 94 Ford pick up has a surprising amount of Phillips head screws under the hood. I also often use the adapter on my M12 3/8 ratchet.

I have this accessory. I find it works best on older tools that are smaller. I had a Makita 14.4v 1/2 impact wrench, the old NIMH style and I used it on that for quite awhile. Also, my entry into the DeWalt platform was the DCF880 1/2 impact wrench which is the exact same size as the 885. I just bout this $6 adapter at Lowes rather than buying the 885 to do impact driver related work. I primarily do mechanic work, not building or crafting so the impact wrench is a more used tool by me. Most mechanics will have a variety of 1/2 impact wrenches in their shop. Another option would be to use that on the M12 stubby 1/2 impact in mode 1 when you're doing interior work with torx or phillips fasteners.

This is made for someone like me who only works on cars. I have no need for a regular drill or for that matter a impact drill. I recently bought some solar power lights to mount outside my front door and just what, no impact drill to use a drill bit🤷🏽‍♂️. All I need it for is 2 or 4 screw so this works 110% for me. No need in buying a whole separate drill or impact drill when I have a good impact wrench!!

Milwaukee has had those for a while. I use it on my Milwaukee midtorque impact to drive large timber screws and GRKs it is AWESOME!

I have the dcf885 (actually I have two 855's one ancient and still trucking- one new as a spare) the dcf890, the dcf894 AND THE BIG BAD 899 .... IM definitely getting one of these adapters, not sure what I'll wind up using it for but I'm positive I'll use it. I use my tools for mostly mechanical work with a few odd jobs around the house here and there.

Use the Milwaukee impacts they have ball detents. Our company buys the ten piece 18 volt sets and you get 2 1/4” hex drivers and two 1/2” drive ones but you have 4 crewmen needing 1/4” hex drivers for impact sockets up to 1/2 inch. And Robertson drivers.

It's genius. Especially using the 3/8" anvil Milwaukee 2960. Basically you get two high end devices for price of one. Owe, let's not forget the impact wrench also has an adaptor for becoming a hammer impact drill. Yep.

So I just bought the Milwaukee version of this adapter with a corded Milwaukee Impact wrench... It was either this or a Makita corded impact that has a 1/4 in hex quick release... But the wrench has so much torque. What do you guys think? I just want something corded for big jobs... "Let me charge my 8 batteries". Milwaukee employee at home depot was doing something and I stopped and talked to him.. he said all the corded stuff is going away. Basically for creating large holes for HDMI cable through say 9 boards... 9 is my record. I used a Ryobi 1HP Impact battery with a 1ft extension and one of those spade bits... 1 1/2 inch. I like those more than the Irwin speedbore because those are hard to punch through the final board at the very end. What would you guys use???

I'm just your average weekend diy dad on a budget and I have 3/8 and 1/2 impact wrenches and a M12 driver. This is perfect for me so I don't have to buy a M18 driver and save that money to buy another tool instead. If you use these professionally it would likely make more sense to have both wrenches and drivers in both voltage platforms and use the adapter as needed or as a backup.

@VCG Construction. I think somebody at Dewalt watches TTRs and this is their solution to make impact wrench TTRs interesting. You can test not only nut busting torque but also drilling with large spaddle bits and large hole saw bits and drive really long and large lag fastners including Timber Locks. Hope your wife is better and hope you and she stay safe and well.

Throw it on a DCF921 and enjoy a reasonably sized super powerful impact driver, as well as an almost mid torque impact wrench in one tool. Great for DIY, and smaller portable boxes.

As a fire sprinkler fitter, I used to use an impact driver for years with a ¼x½ socket adapter for fastening bolt couplings and was sick of breaking these adapters and a weekly or monthly basis so I went out and bought an impact wrench. That being said we use ¼" bits almost every day as well for driving screws and the idea of having both impacts around for each task is not something that appeals to me. The less tools i can have in my bag the better so if i can get away with having an adapter in my tool belt or bag, then its a huge win.

I picked this up at Lowes, was cheap. I don't use it to drill but have used it a couple times with some difficult bit screws. I already trashed my 1/4" bit driver once (Dewalt fixed under warranty, quickly too). But don't want to break it again.

I have the Dewalt and the Neiko versions of this adapter. Although this adapter is well-built and impact ready, it is rated only at about 200 ft-lbs of torque. So, make sure you’re not using the most powerful mode of your impact wrench if you want this adapter to outlast your wrench. The best thing about using this adapter with the impact wrench is the fact that, even at slower speed, it will continue to drive your bits through levels of resistance that an impact driver could not handle.

I could see the use. My Ridgid GenX drill has no nuts, and sometimes the impact driver doesn't have the power. My 1/2 inch Octane impact wrench has plenty though...

Hey Vince I have use these adaptors for years when running in heavy duty fasteners in large quantities like 6" Grk's , or when I was building sunrooms and some of the fasteners took more power and the small impact would struggle, bought my first adapter in 2007

I imagine there is a much less of a noticeable power struggle as the impact wrench delivers strong power straight out of the gate. This is one of the best applications I’ve heard of.

milwaukee makes an attachment just like this in 3/8 and 1/2 so they can make it ready to hold 1/4 bits. i use my 3/8 stubby to turn it into an impact driver. it's $20 at home depot online

Milwaukee has made those for a while now. I have the Milwaukee one in 3/8 square. I use it on my m12 3/8 stubby impact to drive screws when working on cars. That way only one driver is needed for every fastener on the vehicle.

That thing is totally ludicrous on that huge impact!! I LOVE IT!!!!😂😆😍 I gotta get one just to break stuff with. You know if anything you put in that 1/4” collet hooks, it gonna snap. I guess it’s probably meant for a compact unit like the new ridgid “stubby” with 200 ft lbs and not 1,000

So, this is why a ball detent is best, lol. I don’t think I own any impacts with ball detents, which drives my dad crazy (as he’s old school & think the big ring is weird, lol). For a second when backed that drill bit out & it came out, almost thought was the adapter, good thing it wasn’t. Liked the tool mash up: kobalt, DeWalt, Milwaukee.....use what ya got 😁 Wouldn’t mind seeing that Dewalt storage case you had there though, & seeing the load out you have in it😉 Have good one vcg✌🏼
