It's so comforting knowing that people who are amazing and successful like this still struggle with anxiety.
@letsdomath17503 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use the word comforting as I wouldn't wish intense anxiety bordering on panic on anyone. Self-induced anxiety like that shows that someone is forcing a result at all costs for a short-term perceived gain. He was belittling himself for a lot of his training by comparing himself to others and risked many painful bone injuries while neglecting important aspects of his life.

Klappersen, true, "There's no one giant step that will get you from where you are to where you want to be." But what separates you from the ones who make it big isn't talent, it's the everyday stuff...so stop complaining in KZbin comments and go change something, make a better decision. You want to become better than average? Then it starts with today. Here are some quotes to motivate your lazy ass..... "Competence is often what people aim for as an endpoint. Most people sit somewhere around that point. They've got some sort of skill set and the sembalance of drive; they want to be good...they shrug and tell themselves, Meh I'm good enough." "Commitment at this level means being focused on each minute of everyday as a space to be perfected. It means devoting yourself to what others see as meaningless detail." "Behind most every talented person who has become a massive success is a daily schedule of grind, hours of suck, and a whole string of difficult, lonely moments working on the tiniest details that will get them where they want to go." "People want to boil down elite achievements to "born with it" talent; it gives them an excuse for why they're not at the same level. They don't want to hear about the hours upon hours upon hours of patient, meticulous practice that achiever went through to get where they are."
@aabb11667 жыл бұрын
My point is the psychology, my point is _positivity_ . "dispite probably being better than most at the beginning anyway" - my point is that we shouldn't focus on that. How do we know when they started? "Teenagers heads"? - being a teenager is a perfect time to start! You embrace the hard work?...so you are just sitting back and watching others succeed and not working hard yourself. Just because you haven't gotten anywhere doesn't mean that others can't. There's always going to come a point where it's "too late" if you are 50 years old and want to work for NASA and be an astronaut then that's probably not going to happen..it's not realistic...you can't do annnnything you want but it all has to do with proper goal setting: *S.M.A.R.T goals: Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant. Time Bound* As I said before, society always just shrugs at highly talented people and we think we can't be like that, people just look at elite achievements and think they are born with it. I think sometimes people don't realize how much actual hard work and long hours go into getting yourself to the top or even just where you want to be. Don't be disappointed with the results you didn't get, with the work you didn't put in. It's about doing the little things and details everyday that people aren't going to even pay attention to, that's how you'll achieve excellence. Anybody can strive for that. My other point for you specifically is to change the way you think, if you continue to think like that and that you can't achieve high level goals if you simply put your mind and focus toward it, it's never going to happen. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. In the words of Mat Fraser's coach, "if you talk about things that are outside of your control, things that could diminish your performance, you will see and experience more of those things. *If your story is telling you you're not good enough, not smart enough, too old, too young, or can't do it, your subconscious will believe you.* "

True, "fit" is pretty relative. Although Crossfit takes into consideration all the aspects and principles that make up sport, fitness, and skill. You call it "pure", but that's the specific sport you list. Where as CrossFit includes running, power lifting, gymnastics and more so it forces the athletes to be mainly a generalist and not a sport specific specialist. You can clearly tell in some cases that people like Rich Froning at late stages of the crossfit games looked like the workouts didn't even hurt or gas him one bit while everyone else flopped around like fish. There are many forms of roids too btw. Anabolics which everyone accuses these athlestes of help maintain muscle mass while cutting, which these athletes do to boost their cardiovascular capabilities. They are on the same routines as every other paid to win athlete out there. Don't just assume based on looks. Performance is a notable tell a lot of the time too.

@oskarlindholm83407 жыл бұрын
If he had massively improved his results at 2016 I'd say PEDs all the way. You don't get that kind of improvement over time if you've competed at elit level for like five years or more. No way. After 25 years of age the body does not get better as time goes by. You improve but you improve slower and slower. Combine that with someone who has already passed the 10000 hour mark and is close to his maximum capacity and you will either stagnate or lose that edge. Technique is possible to improve at that point but you won't get stronger.

Remember to be kind, caring and responsible. All you need to control the six inches between you two ears. You 6 inches of property. It's the thoughts u think. How you control it. Learn from mistakes. Dedication. What you focus on is often what you get, what you see. Turn negativity and fear etc, it must be USED AS a tool to drive you forward to your top of your game. Look at your mistakes, fear, regret, and ENSURE that you don't go back THERE. Don't fail because you created bad habits. Why do u fail because you have not control your mind etc,. Don't let comfort or discomfort let you fail. If you were driving a car well, use the similar mindset to live your life and in training, and your mission. Be comfortable with your own company. Be in your own teacher. Everyone in your life you came into contact, taught you something. Pay tribute to them by living your life good to your best potential. Becareful what you focus on and becareful on what you wish for. Drive in your life time like an expert good professional top athletes.... Even if you are at the very bottom. Compete with your self. Be better than you were even a moment ago to decades ago. Know when to LEAVE the game, the party while it's good. NEVER too close. We all have good nutrural bad blood... At the end off the day don't leave bad blood.observation, notice AND aware. Expect the unexpected. Aim to push to your final goal. Not the winning it's the life's journey, the training, and ensure you don't create Serious injuries for your future self due to lack of thought and preparation. Think of the greats, the athletes, those that stand out. They're the teachers. Remember to be genuinely kind and never vindictive. Be wise but firm but gentle. Always looking back and all around you, to ensure you done things right, nothing is missing nor forgotten nor undone, etc. Know when to walk away to live your very best another day. Never play the "when..? Never...? Ever!!! " Game. Do it in the right time, place and sequence. Keep walking , keep going and the scenarios will forever change. Do it right the first time. Becareful what you say and do because it can never be undone. Only one of you in the world. Two things we need to compete against and with is nature and our inner chatter. It is better to live out your life to be kind to mother earth, the animals, the plants, the earth. Better not to hurt nor kill for entertainments because you can, it doesn’t make it right nor best things to do. Better this way, than live a life of hypocrisy. Keep telling your family and life partner, that you care. Keep showing that you care. Appreciate every moment you have in their company and your own company, because all living beings do matter in some way, shape and form. You just never know when you may make plans, but the powers above our control may have other plans for you. Just never know when it’s our time to pass over to the other side of life. Never leave in rage, nor anger...just never know those words and outbursts of hurtful emotions, maybe the very last. Just never know when it’s the last time. Dreams are simply theoretical plans, waiting to be discovered and created. Imagination is limitations: Imagination is also our limitations. It seems so unfair that in old, we are wiser but have no time to spend the gift of wisdom. It’s so unfair, that youth feels as if life has gifted the young with a timeless future and the world at your feet, but without the wisdom that has been earned in old age. As the song lyrics state, it’s still a beautiful world. I’m a very old human being now. But never too late to try to start afresh. Our days are like coins in a big coin purse. Spend your time well. There’s so much more I wish to share, but I’m too old , with so little time to spare now that my memories are like black and white negatives from the old fashioned cameras. In my old age, I wish I gave my very best in life in everything I did. Today I am going to start. (These words were inspired by others, and the loss of many of my loved ones. Gone too young, gone too soon. )

In my old age, I wish I gave my very best in life in everything I did. Today I am going to start. Work hard. Be willing to go to your highest possible potential, maybe not today: maybe you’ll feel like shit tomorrow! Your consistency WILL PAY OFF. DON’T STAY STAGNANT. KEEP MOVING FORWARD TO BE the VERY best you can be. Don’t quit corners. Do everything properly. Do it right. Do it consistently, do it seriously, and be willing to put in the hours, never give up. Remember to be kind, caring and responsible. Keep calm and carry on All you need to control the six inches between you two ears. You 6 inches of property. It’s the thoughts u think. How you control it. Learn from mistakes. Dedication. What you focus on is often what you get, what you see. Like when you are driving a vertical or flying a plane. Where you focus on, is where you often land. Not all storms turn out to have completely bad endings. It must be USED AS a tool to drive you forward to your top of your game. Turn your emotions into something constructive. Look at your mistakes, fear, regret, and ENSURE that you don’t go back THERE repeatedly making the same mistakes like bad habits. Habitual habits. Making bad habits into more bigger, even worse mother of all mothers of bad habits until it defines you. Don’t fail because you created bad habits. Why do u fail? Is it because you have not nurtured sufficient control of your mind, body etc.!? Don’t let comfort or discomfort let you fail. If you are driver? Well ensure you driving a car well. The way you drive, is the way you live your life. So use the similar mind-sets to live your life and in training, and your missions. Be comfortable with your own company. Be your own teacher. Listen to your GUT FEELINGS AND INSTINCTS. If you seek other people’s opinions without being wise, without an enquiring mind... you will end up giving your power away. You’re effectively sacrificing yourself, to another human being who doesn’t always know better than you. I suppose your circumstances could end in tears, because consequences could be similar to, ‘the blind leading the blind?!’ Everyone in your life you came into contact, taught you something. Pay tribute to them by living your life to your best potential. Do strive hard to be very careful because what you focus on is often what you get. Do be careful of what you wish for, what you pray for because you may receive more than you bargained for! Yes, I learned the dreadfully most painful way. It is much better to learn from other people’s mistakes and wisdom that has proven to true of thousands of life times, of those who trodden this life long before you. Drive your life, in your life-time like an expert... like those timeless professional top athletes.... Even if you are at the very bottom. Compete with your self. Be better than you were even a moment ago to decades ago. Know when to LEAVE the game, the party while it’s good. NEVER get far too close to people and never fly too close to danger. We all have tools and skills in the box. We have good and the bad blood, and all the shades in between. At the end off the day don’t leave bad blood. Observation, notice AND aware. Anticipation... Expect the unexpected. Aim to push to your final goal. Not the winning isn’t the most important goal. Surely it’s the life’s journey lies that matters? Surely its what we gain from the university of Life qualifications that matter? Surely the training, and ensuring that you don’t keep recreating serious injuries for your future self due to lack of thought and preparation. Think of the greats, the athletes, those that stand out. They’re our teachers. Remember to be genuinely kind and never vindictive. An act of vengeance may entertain you and fill you with vindictive delight momentarily, but lifetimes of agonising regrets and heart breaks. No matter how trivial or serious you perceive your antisocial act to be. Regardless if you perceive your conduct to be justified or not. Just remember everything is written in the pages of time, like an book that cannot be unwritten. Nothing can be undone. Be wise but firm but gentle, stay calm and collective in mind and body. Panicking maketh, fools of men. ‘Manners Manners the man.’ Always looking back and all around you, to ensure you have done things right, nothing is missing nor forgotten nor undone, etc. Know when to walk away! So, understand that you walk away with courage and wisdom, to live your very best another day. You’ll succeed another day. Everything will happen in the best time, place and sequence another day, but maybe not today. Never play the “when..? Never...? Ever!!! “ Game. Do it in the right time, place and sequence, even while you only have 000.001/5% of success, grab this glimmer of control, this glimpse of success while you can. After all you are already a winner. Out of thousands upon thousands of being conceived, you have already beaten the odds of success. When everyone casts your down to the debts of darkness of doubts that you can achieve something wonderful. Maybe this is the chance that you can show then you are a winner and that you can set an example to show them that it’s the journey that truly counts. It’s good enough to know that you have done good and did your very best. Keep walking , keep going and the scenarios will forever change. Never make assumptions. • Remember when Do it right the first time. Be careful of what you say and do because it can never be undone. Only one of you in the world. Treasure your body and life, because your ancestors your parents, your doctors and mother nature and God gifted these to you. We are all different, but we are all human and have worldwide the same tools in the box. All living species too. Just because you can, doesn’t mean it’s always the best and right things to do. If you need to achieve a goal but come up against a dead end. Pause a while, then try to succeed a different way. When I was a tiny child, I said that one day there will be disabled people with things missing from their bodies. But people laughed at me and thought this was childish nonsense. 70 years later, we have the para Olympics. People laughed when someone said the world is round and they laugh too when someone said one day we will fly to the moon and back. Remember other people’s opinions are simply that. It’s really non of our business, unless it causes harmful reaction which leads to harmful consequences. Once said or done, cannot be unseen, unheard, undone. Two things we need to compete against and this is, with mother nature and our inner chatter. Never trust anyone, nor anything and especially oneself 101 percent. As a gentle reminder... okay let me share with you. The first decision made, in the mind, came from oneself. It is therefore oneself, that has the elements of a particular outcome. Therefore we must not trust 101% anymore, anything nor anyone and never too close to humans, never too close to danger. Try hard not to finish peoples sentences nor stories nor reports nor updates. Never assume you know best and know what they’re saying. Never allow people do this to you. On going to see a doctor, or anyone very important, write it down and document your evidence. Just never know, you may save a life, even your own. When walking in the opposite direction to another in a busy situation, especially in hospitals or dangerous situations such as in fires and so forth. Here is a tip for you. If you need to walk to the left of someone, star at the person’s left ear. If you wish to travel to the right, star at the top of the right ear. It will assist in preventing a terrible collision, will prevent a needless accident. Know that we all loose some one, some things, no happy endings in this life but it’s journey that counts. Don’t get too distressed on loosing material things. We can’t even take our bodies with us...over to the other side. Death is certain leveller, but some people deserve it more than others. On your very last moment of life, make sure you earned enough good stuff in your credits to exit in grace and peace. No regrets. No foul. No harm. When you loose someone very dear to you. Remember that there’s no such thing as, ‘GET OVER IT,’ Try to take responsibility for our bodies, our minds, our thoughts, words and deeds. Most of strive to find health and contentment. As we know it, we only have one life. So be kind, and strive for contentment. Don’t live your half your life striving for material goods, etc. and the other half getting rid of it all. Smile even when your heart is breaking. It’s good for the soul. Just one smile can give hope to the hopeless: you just never know how much good you have done. Just know that you have. Think carefully, before you act, do, say or not do anything at all, when it’s best that you do act. Life is definitely like a rush and roulette. But do your best, so you’ll never look back with unrelenting regrets and irretrievable conclusions.

Fittest Man on Earth is just a title people. Just like the World Series champions are "World Champions". Are they actually world, champions, no. Fittest Man on Earth is just a title that translates fittest crossfitter/crossfit champion. So don't everyone get your panties in a bunch because of a title. just take a breathe and realize the world isn't going to end.
@NeroVuk5 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but you do have to admit that both of the examples you mention are kinda stupid titles that should really be changed. Because they are kinda a spit in the face of other athletes. Hell, Fittest Man on Earth is in a way more obnoxious (even though it makes more sense) than the World Series because the rest of the world kind of doesnt care about baseball and the World Series champion could probably trash whatever team the rest of the world could come up with. But Fittest Man on Earth, come on... That's just silly.

Know what you mean, bro; "You are the changes you want to make in this world." You can do it. Trust yourself. Be proud of yourself. But get enough rest between the workouts and have fun. I personally compete only with myself. I don't need to be the best, just better than I was yesterday or a week or a month ago or longer. Love yourself. That is easier when you're doing the right thing, doing what makes you happy and feel good about yourself. do what makes you feel strong and alive, excited and free. Achieving your goals gives a sensation of freedom. Still, working towards the goal is just as valuable as reaching the goal. Being successful is measured by how glad we are in general. Life is joy. It should be. Never give up. Be yourself.

I know that there are a lot of people that hate crossfit and I used to be one of them. I can tell you from recent experiences that I truly believe that crossfit is the best true test of fitness that exists today. The different varieties of exercises and the excruciating level that you're expected to perform at is unbelievable. I have a lot of respect for all athletes of different disciples and I'm not not taking any credit from the football player, the swimmer, or the runner. But each one of them are experts in a specific type of fitness. A crossfit athletes skill range is so diverse that I believe that Matt Fraser deserves to be called the fittest man alive
@jstover777 жыл бұрын
I've done most types of fitness (did Crossfit for 7 years), and I can mostly agree. Even after 7 years, there wasn't a single METCON, which didn't kick my ass. The only other activity I've tried that kicked my ass anywhere near CF is MMA/Boxing (sparring).

What purpose does sitting in a "horse stance" for six hours serve? You can sit there and jerk off a broom stick for 8 hours straight, you will be tired and your forearm will be dead, but so what? It's retarded to do so. There's no sports specificity with a six hour horse stance, but there is sports specificity in terms of carry over into any number of other pursuits that crossfit will give you. You will be better at long pursuits in the mountains to go rock climbing, a better surfer, boxer, everything else as the skills needed to compete at that range of activities is utilized in a certain extent in crossfit. Look at gym jones or mountain athlete and see the influence crossfit has had in terms of extending out now for mountaineers and alpinists and fireman/police as well as there's such a real world carry over. The need to mystify and act as if Asian monks and martial arts is there ultimate thing needs to end, there's a reason Asian monks and "kung fu" masters aren't world champion boxers or UFC champions. Lrn2life brah

Ok lets look at crossfit athletes for a minute. They claim to be the fittest person alive. What does that mean? Are they the strongest person alive? Nope. Are they the fastest person alive? Nope. Can they run the farthest? Not at all. Can they swim the fastest or farthest? Probably not. Can they jump the highest? I doubt it. The idea of crossfit from the hundreds of video's I've seen on the subject seems to be to do some exercise in the quickest and easiest way possible. You can see this in the way they do pull ups, push ups and deadlifts. Everything seems to be done half arsed. Granted they do train really hard and sweat alot but can you really say they do every exercise better than the sport it's based off? Crossfit just takes a bunch of exercises, changes them so it's easier to do and puts them together to create their sport. I take my hat off to the people that do it but it's not my cup of tea.
@DiamorphineDeath7 жыл бұрын
It's a pursuit in it's own right, as they're training against other individuals who have amazing genetics and are in phenomenal shape. While not doing anything associated with any kind of lifting like this, the proof is in the pudding visually and I think this is where a vast majority of the hate comes from, these people actually look healthy and like they can lay claim to that subjective title you're describing. Are they the strongest? Well no, because there are individuals who are 6'9 and weigh 400 lbs out there, are they the fastest? Again, not there dude....are they able to do a combination of all of it though is the question.

I give David Goggins the title of fittest man. Having the endurance to run 205 miles, yet break the 24 hour pull up record. Running Ultra's at 190lb, while most ultra runners weigh 120-140lb. Master of his body weight, yet being able to to deadlift 405 without training it. All while running 100+ miles a week, and logging 700 mile cycling weeks. The guy also has done 3 hell weeks in a year, which no one has ever done. He became a Navy SEAL as well. Once ran 800 miles in 8 weeks. What's scary is he's in the best shape of his life even now after recovering from a hole in his heart his whole life. I'm pretty sure he's won Ironman, Ultraman races. I know he got second in one of his first races, and he destroyed his bike during the same race. I think the ultra is a 6.2 mile swim, over 100 miles biking, and a marathon. These guys are two different athletes, but considering David is much more of a hybrid athlete. David Goggins is the fittest man alive.

@mateomarshall29595 жыл бұрын
@@jblake615 Depends on your definition of fittest man. I give goggins the edge because he's multidimensional with his fitness. The ability to lift heavy weights, master body weight, and run over 200 miles. If I was going to battle, I choose this guy over someone whose just good at crossfit. Goggins workouts are likely way more sadistic and twisted than this guy as well. He wouldn't be whipped in a workout. I doubt he could lift more obviously but that's not what he trains. But could Mat train how goggins does daily? I highly doubt it.
