At this point who even cares? Lol slavery is literally the least interesting and least important part of history. America might be the only country that gives to shits about some slaves from a couple hundred years ago other countries don't even bother writing this in their history books. Why would they? History books are to celebrate people who accomplish things..... They aren't supposed to be about lowly insignificant slaves lol Seriously lol why are we even talkin about people whose only accomplishment, was doing what they were told (being a slave) after they lost to a rival faction. A slave's history or life story is one of just being a loser....... History is written by the winners and everyone needs to remember that!

It's amazing how many people turn up on Destiny's Door, say they've done the research, and then at the first or second question tell him to read 200+ pages and do the research himself. Just immediately crumble. If you actually read it and researched it you could defend it because you'd know it, or at least direct to more specific sections. Pathetic.

To be fair, in some cases destiny is very retard for asking sources for the most basic stuff that is common knowledges or doesn't require a lot of logical leap of understanding. Even if you find sources people have different ways of interpret it, some sources he wont get time to dissect because it requires different intake from more than 1 or 2 sources. If you take the IQ debate then Destiny is clueless because its factual documented studies, and in those cases he fall in to the same mindset as Vegan gains where its the "feels" because he doesn't like the outcome. Its a reason why Destiny avoid far-right people with phd because he can't debate them on racial topics. When he debated a white advocate activist (Mark collett), Destiny was left incredible stupid with bad faith arguments like there is no white genocide happening. At the end of the debate (due to time) it was just an argument about is it "intentionally" (meaning he had to concede some of his points).. Holy shit people have been calling out this for decades, but the system ignores it because they want to push their retarded globohomo agenda. It wouldn't suprise me if destiny doesn't understand what "stand alone complex" is, while you could point fingers on whom are behind an agenda this has become automaticity where many people from different backgrounds are participating in it consciously or not.

I was brought up through the Alabama public school system in the 2000s, theoretically one of the most averse states in the country to teaching uncomfortable US history. We learned, in depth, the trans Atlantic slave trade, political disputes like the 3/5 compromise, the great John Brown, abolition, and Jim Crow. The idea that certain parts of the country are sweeping slavery under the rug is a blue state/coastal state myth. It’s beyond silly.

She always can banter well, will explain herself properly on takes, and offers a more “normal” trans opinion on those topics vs crazy people on twitter. Vegan Gains made a good point that these people weren’t benefiting FROM slavery, but despite slavery… even if a minority did benefit directly from slavery, it’s better to specify the numbers. E.g., “1.2% of enslaved people learned to be blacksmiths while enslaved, which they then used for their own benefit after emancipation” …this is a completely made up example….ijs Let’s get specific.

I mean it's needlessly inflammatory, it's kind of like making the argument that Jews in labor camps benefitted from being there and learning to work hard (literally what the Nazis were claiming was going on) and in fact iirc I'm pretty sure some dumb republican agreeing with DeSantis actually bit the bullet on a similar argument to that which is that the Jews benefited from labor camps in that they got to live longer as a result... I mean, their life expectancy in the labor camps was still only 6 months, but it was certainly much longer than in the death camps I suppose... Still, as I believe the Holocaust memorial people said in response, it completely oversimplifies things and misleads people to make statements like that which are so lacking in depth...

It depends on how the information is presented. You are assuming the information is intended to downplay how bad slavery is. But providing historical examples of how strong willed and resilient individuals and communities overcome immense hardships and can adapt the tools given by oppressors as a means of gaining freedom. That was how the example of Frederick Douglass was presented. If 100% of slaves were forced to learn college level physics that wouldn't make slavery a just institution.
@RealmRabbit
@RealmRabbit Жыл бұрын
@@gregmumbai333 If they DID use those skills and what not to all become physicists I feel like that'd kinda just turn slavery into indentured servitude at that point... Like you're doing work in exchange for an education, which is notably viewed much better than how historically the Atlantic slave trade has been viewed... And I feel like that's basically what this is trying to do is make the slavery seem more tasteful by making it seem more comparable to a lesser evil/bad (indentured servitude)... But that still leaves out all the r*pe and beatings and what not going on by slaves... This whole thing is like saying that you benefitted from having someone spare your life after leaving you permanently disabled and murdering your entire family causing you to collect a tiny bit of inheritance money that can pay only a portion of the medical bills... I mean, you DID benefit from them delivering your inheritance to you... That IS a true fact... But that fact alone would leave out a lot of important context if you are not including the whole story of how they went about doing that and how little good it did you... And I'm pretty sure Frederick Douglass learned IN SPITE of being a slave, not because he was a slave... And for a lot of these people if they were not being enslaved, they probably would've been spending a lot more time learning skills that were a lot more useful... Picking cotton and doing manual sewing isn't going to be useful when the south starts industrializing and adopting sewing machines in factories... You won't know how to read, you won't know how to thread the machine, you won't know how to operate it, you won't know what cloths are ideal for given projects, etc. and they'll go with the white person who can do all of this well without any perceived diminishing of the quality due to their racial status... Even as a farmer, you were probably never taught anything about crop cycles or stuff like that... Instead you were just told to put seeds in the ground, to pick berries, etc... Just very basic stuff pretty much anyone can know to do anyway because a lot of the time it was stuff humans were doing back in the early days of civilization or before it...
