Thank you so much for just eating like a normal person who also happens to be vegan! It's so hard to find recipes out there that are vegan and not also some other extreme (like no oil/no salt/no fat/HCLF/etc) I just want to eat a vegan diet, I don't care about it being crazy healthy! =P

I don't use cashew cream often enough to keep them soaking in the fridge so I keep some pre-soaked ones in the freezer. I soak 2 cups at a time for 24 hours in the fridge, then drain them and freeze them. When I need them, I pull out what I need and soak them in room temp water for 5 minutes and they are ready to go.

I made this yesterday and just want to say OMG I LOVE YOU. This was AMAZING. I made the normal amount of sauce but half the green beans. I also used frozen green beans that I warmed and drained the night before. After I made everything in the pan, I put it in a little casserole dish, topped it with store-bought crispy onions (they're vegan) and threw it in the oven for five minutes. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I like the mushy texture, it feels just like the green bean casserole I've been used to all these years. I had extra cashew cream so I used it in my mashed potatoes with dill and salt and topped it with tofurkey gravy. This was my first vegan thanksgiving and it was incredible, didn't miss out on one thing :)

So I made this today, I used oat milk to add creaminess to "cream sauce." I only had bella mushrooms and diced them up fine vs chunky. I prefer my green beans cooked more and leave the crunch aspect of this dish to the onion rings. Would recommend making it! Super yummy.

Key to no tears while cutting an onion is putting the end part that you usually discard on top of you head, the reason why you cry is because the onion releases a gas that activates your tears, so by having that cut onion on top of your head the gasses go straight to it avoiding your eyes..
@ashleymiller51339 жыл бұрын

Hello, I love your videos! Found the channels recently and been watching and rewatching and rewatching some more. Just curious though, do guys know about the environmental downfalls of almond milk? Maybe look it up, seeing as soy isn't as good as most people still believe it to be, and give a couple articles a read. I used to use almond milk too until I looked into it, and now I use boxed coconut milk instead, and I'll buy canned stuff when cooking with it or I want the cream. Just something to consider!
@hotforfood9 жыл бұрын
+Tasja Reign thanks for sharing but honestly the silliest thing I've read about it is this: "And because more than 80 percent of the world’s almonds are grown in drought-ravaged California, some say the water used to produce almonds is wasteful." - well the amount of water it takes to produce a glass of milk or a piece of steak are far greater. What do you think is the reason for the droughts in the first place in CA?! Watch cowspiracy for some more up to date info. PLUS I wouldn't doubt that milk councils everywhere are paying for articles to smash non-dairy milk products seeing as they are losing out on money. Milk, Pork etc are all subsidized by the government and lots of people stand to lose a lot of $$ if people stop buying animals products. Hence propaganda to make people believe something like almond milk is the reason for droughts. Anyway there's opposing info for everything out there. The last thing we should be doing is trusting some article on Forbes magazine as the only truth.
@tasjareign59789 жыл бұрын
Oh I know, believe me. The production/consumption of almond milk is far less impactful than anything involving the animal product and byproduct industry. But once you cancel those out of your life you can choose which plant-based products are better for you and the environment, and almond milk, though optimal in comparison to regular milk, could be less so in comparison to the other dairy alternatives. According to what I've read, that is. This is only my opinion, as you know, and it's just a choice I make that I thought I'd share.

Tip for onions: After cutting in half, rinse the onion under cold water. If you find your eyes starting to sting as you are cutting, rinse that end again and place a damp/wet paper (or tea) towel over the chopped portion. I have suuuper sensitive eyes and this is the only thing that works for me.
