I thank you for speaking on the Black Lives Matter movement at the end of this video. As a Black person, it’s been difficult to watch non-Black creators who are not acknowledging the movement on this platform for the sake of “keeping politics off of KZbin.” Your acknowledgement not only shows that you care and you understand the gravity of the situation, but it also makes me excited to continue to support you because I know that you fully value my life and the lives of so many other Black people. Much love 🖤

thanks for replying. I've been sharing a lot more on IG these last couple of weeks. It was hard to post this today tbh. I have been holding onto it because I shot it just as the BLM protests were starting. I'm really committed to spending more time learning history and helping share info online as well as doing my own work instead of doing this stuff. I think videos are going to be few and far between for a little while. Love to you xo

hot for food there are many educational resources that I know of online (particularly on IG) including some educational posts that I’ve been making myself. I will share some with you, I know they’ve even been helpful for me for learning about my own history. Keep an eye out for my dm on IG @slaurensanchez , I will gather some things and send them your way!

I think a lot of people just don't know what to say or don't want to say the wrong things. I have seen many people being attacked for even having a conversation. So some are doing their part in silence. Which is ok too.

Omgosh I have been craving these donuts too!!!! Yes!!! Cant wait to try the recipe. Also, I am so glad you're speaking about BLM and systemic racism on your platform. Thank you for using your privledge to speak out and encourage people to educate themselves. As a mom of two mixed girls and a wife of a black man, the fear and anxiety I feel is off the charts, thank you for speaking up for my family and all people of color (I've been following you on Instagram and your posts have been on point).

Hey Ashley... its really the least I can do. I have this platform so I have to speak out. I wish you didn't have to live in fear and anxiety. Practically everyday there has been a new case of another beautiful Black life lost, and I know that's nothing new. I am listening and paying attention. Sending you lots of love xo

OMG! I have been looking for a vegan old fashioned donut recipe everywhere. I am definitely trying this! Also, thank you for taking the time out to speak on the current issues and what you are doing to help fight racial injustices. I know that your platform is geared toward food and very lighthearted material but to continue on and stay silent as if nothing has happened speaks a louder message. So thank you again for being open.✊🏾

Can't wait to try this one. You never disappoint!!! I did recently see a video that claimed twisting the cutter, effects how the doughnut raises while frying. The twist action " seals" the edge prohibiting a good rise. Cut straight down with a well floured cutter. Sounds plausible to me and thank you for providing a great recipe to test this theory.

I definitely need to try this! Thanks for veganizing it. Question - i see a lot of egg replacement suggestion being flax but chia is not mentioned as often. Is there a reason for that? How is flax egg better than chia egg?
@hotforfood4 жыл бұрын
its basically the same but I find ground flax to be more common. ground white chia would be best - same reason as golden flaxx - just a preference for the final look of something like these doughnuts.

Thank you for the recipe I usually look forward to them, however, I would have preferred the video without the BLM lecture. As a black woman who has dealt with racism, I understand all to well, there needs to be change but supporting heinous violent groups like BLM & the riotous mobs that are destroying and killing in the so called name of G. Floyd and seeking justice, nope it is not right. No change will be effected and truth can not prevail because these groups are silencing their own voices with their despicable actions. My question is...why is it just NOW that so many want to jump on the band wagon of the 'black' side and have moral outrage and indignation? So many other lives have been lost in similar horrific circumstances. Where were the donations, speeches, celebrities, marches and the desire to educate then? Where is the indignation for the black officers who will not return home to their families because they were murdered by mobs who were suppose to be standing for Black Lives Matters? Where is the outrage and call for justice and the march for retired black police capt. David Dorn shot by looters outside of the pawn shop he was trying to protect. The watched him bleed to death while filming it live for fb, where is his justice?
@hotforfood4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on "where was the outrage, donations, marches and desire to educate" before. I admittedly was ignorant and didn't pay attention to something I thought wasn't my problem. I completely admit the MASSIVE problem in doing that. I can only get informed and learn as much as possible now. Of course, as a Black woman you shouldn't trust that / me as action is what is important, and you are rightfully mad. From what I've come to understand is that the #BLM organizations aren't the ones inciting any violence. They are peacefully protesting. I've seen a lot of police violence though. Not everyone will agree about the protesting but I just felt I wanted to say something since I taped this a couple days after George Floyd was murdered and it seemed insensitive to not mention anything since there was a global movement happening and a lot of people were affected and finally paying attention. I can't pretend to understand what it's like to be Black in America or elsewhere, but at least us sleepwalkers are waking up to some real hard truths about the world we live in. I'm sorry if my mention was upsetting to you
@MLBLrawbeliever4 жыл бұрын
@@hotforfood Lauren I very much appreciate your response it is one of the most honest exchanges I feel that I personally have witnessed in all of the malay. I am not angry and I apologize if I presented that way. I am very concerned but yet hopeful. My prayer is that a rush to choose sides would be reigned in and the various factions would stop shouting at one another and come and let's reason together. I am glad that others see injustices but what I would ask...see them all. BLM is not what it presents I can promise you that but more importantly we the true peaceful protesters can effect change with a unified calm truth filled voice. I dont have a following ir huge platform but many of you do. I and many others like me do not want donations, sympathy or political/media grandstanding. The desire is for fair and equitable treatment for every human regardless of color,. Let's take race out of the equation for once and just come together and talk. Various ehnicities, law enforcement, political realms etc to listen to one another (no shouting allowes) with a true goal of working toward lasting change. If we are willing, it can happen. #thepeoplesroundtable
