I really appreciate this video because you’re actually talking about the hard parts of doing no poo. I’ve lived in a really hot humid climate most of my life and I have curly hair so no poo has been almost impossible for me. I’ve wanted to try it but I always get to the point that I just can’t be around people with my hair the way it is
@OceanPancake4 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Hot and humid climates can make it very difficult. Think its important to give it a good try, and just be honest with yourself. Luckily there are so many plastic free options now for our hair.

I did no poo for about 3 months and gave up because it just did not work, but I still did not want to use shampoo. I looked at what I ate and started eating more protein + fat and that made my hair and skalp much better. So It is not just using no shampoo that helps but also what you put in your body.

Ways to clean yourself without a chemical formula? No, there isn’t. Water is a chemical. Every single thing that has electrons is a chemical. What's important to consider is what that particular chemical does. Don’t just make blanket statements about "chemicals" (ooo evil chemicals) as a whole, it's just uneducated.
@lizxu32210 ай бұрын
Um... everything is a chemical...using say only aloe and apple cider vinegar... they're chemical formulas too lmao... Research shampoo ingredients. Fragrances should generally be avoided. Don't be scared of silicones, its been demonized. It ABSOLUTELY depends on hair type and genetics. it also depends on environment and climate. Ive known both people who go no poo and people who use shampoo with wonderful hair. It just sucks when no poo people push their agendas on others. Remember certain annoying vegans who press you to convert? Some no poo people remind me of them. Do what works for you but DONT FORCE OTHERS TO CONVERT

Detangling hair dry was my biggest hair destroyer. If I can put hair in a pineapple at night, it also saves my hair a lot. Now I only detangle in the shower with a conditioner. I also do the curly girl method. As for smell, cleanliness etc, no poo, even no product worked fine for me for 2 years that I did it.

Come on people. You wash your pets with shampoo but wouldn't do the same for your own hair. Its becoming ridiculous. My horse when adopted had horrible dandruff on her mane and tail. She lived wild for 4 years with no shampoo and guess what? 4 years of having her mane and tail get washed by clean organic rain did not clean her adequately. Dogs and cats that ive rescued off the street also needed to be shampooed to get engine grease, sand, blood, etc off of them. People have literally forgotten how lucky we are to have great inventions like shampoo and are now doing 180 on them. Reminds me of flat earthers.

There was a lot of effort involved, i started working after college. So, i cutt off my dreads, got a regular french bob. And switch back to using sulphate shampoos , washing my hair every alternate days in summers and twice a week in winters. At the end used apple cidar, hair as good as new. Was really surprised at the effect, especially apple cidar after washing made such a huge difference, instantly untangled mess became silky and easy to detangle. Can definitely recommend :D

I tried them but they didn’t really seem to clean anything unfortunately. Good as a softener, but I have seriously hard water, like if I leave my bottles in the shower for a week they’ll be covered in chalky dust and really bad watermarks that are actually white, but I think if you have soft water they should work quite nicely but they won’t clean as much as actual detergents obviously, but they’re really softening

Just an advice to everyone deciding whether to use no poo or not - consult with dermatologist first. Here are some facts about our hair: 1. The frequency of washes does not affect grease production. It depends on how your hormones work. 2. Hair grease is very fertile environment for bacteria. 3. Too much hair build up can block pores on your head and cause skin conditions that can lead to hair loss. Basically our head is just like any other body part. You don't skip the shower in the morning and yet people think it's ok to wash your hair 1-2 times per week. Pollution levels, dust, bacteria and what not, we exposed to that every day by simply being outside. Add to that hair sebum... Basically you have to wash your hair when it feels greasy. Frequent washes do NOT damage your hair. If you don't dye or using hot tools on your hair and they are still breaking off or simply not looking good, shampoo that is not suitable for your hair type is usually the problem. You just have to find your shampoo. For some people only shampoos with sulfates work. For some no sulfates are ok. But it has to wash off all the greas. Than again, you don't have to take my word for it. Consult with you doctor.

Do you have the sulfate-free shampoo bar from Lush? Cause I think all but one has sulfates. I too have been shampoo free for 2+ years and tried a lot of different options and I would absolutely notice a difference in where I was. London vs. Sweden for example. Right now I'm using rye flour. It's not my absolute favourite for washing my hair (white clay is my favourite for that) but overall it's the current winner as it's cheap, easy to get both organic and locally grown as well as being super friendly to nature (if I washed my hair with it in a lake it would not negatively affect the nature or animals in any way). But sometimes I have considered looking for an alternative, especially for when I travel/hike. I've found it really hard to find sulfate-free shampoo bar though.

Vegan Diver Katt Hi Katt, I understand why you would say Africa instead of the Comoro Islands or Comoros, however I think lumping all 54 countries into one, only perpetuates the view that all countries in Africa are the same. Having been there I’m sure you can attest to the rich culture of that region, however that culture is not unilateral across the whole continent. If people continue to refer to singular countries in a continent as that continent, it not only doesn’t acknowledge that nation’s particular history and/or culture, but it also doesn’t inform those listening where you are actually went (especially within the context of referring to climates, the climate of an island in the Mozambique Channel is nothing like that of the Sahara Dessert). Of course I don’t expect you alone to change the skewed view the rest of the world has in regards to Africa, but this struck me as a prime opportunity to share and educate all your lovely subscribers about such a beautiful continent. I hope I haven’t offended anyone or ranted too much, just thought I would share my take on this subject. (PS i did enjoy the rest of the video and admire you for being transparent and informative)
