I'm a guy. I started with the no poo method about 1.5yrs or 2yrs ago. I found about it after researching the reason why my hair started to fall after switching shampoo brands back then (it turns out there are chemicals in shampoo that make your hair fall, especially if you have a predisposition for it.) I started with the baking soda + vinegar method. I used to cut my hair really really short (that's an advantage for guys) so the transition was fairly easy. Nowadays I only use vinegar every once in a while. The baking soda leaves my hair too dry. I wash my hair with very cold water every day and maybe once a week I use vinegar. My hair is not greasy nor oily and the hair fall pretty much stopped. I also think that diet plays an important part. If your diet is not healthy it will surely reflect on your hair.

Honestly I've been doing this method for a few months and luckily it adapted quickly in just a few weeks. But also I did use shampoo and conditioner that is mostly natural and I only did that once a week, so it might be a less drastic change. But I did really notice the decrease of hair loss. I didn't have a hair loss problem before, I have hair to my hips. And I'm still surprised every time I comb my hair. Because it's almost nothing, it's even very little compared with friends that have short hair. I only use a nettle tea, maybe that also plays a part I read that's also good against hair loss, (that's not the reason I use it).

I've been trying various no-poo methods for about 8 months now. Started with baking soda / ACV but my hair was bleached and it was way too drying. And I learned that baking soda isn't a great route for long term use as it's too alkaline and strips the hair. While ACV conditions it, there's been many stories and scientists explaining how it damages over time. Just something to keep in mind. Glad yours is looking so great though. Would love to know how it's still working. Been trying water-only for a few months now, started washing once a month with gentle, natural shampoo, but have since stopped as it really only seemed to stop all my progress.

Hi there, i use to have dandruff struggle finally i find the way i never see it again. you need only two components: 1-Good Soap Bar 2- ACV ( 1 table spoon for every 100 ml water) Method instruction ( hair washing) : 1- Spray your hair with ACV 2- Apply soap on ACV ( super balanced for scalp, double effect on dandruff) 3- Wash with water 4- Last think before leaving shower, spray your hair with ( ACV leave in conditioner: it is completely natural) don't worry about smell as ACV already mix with water. [ "Dandruff cannot beat leave in conditioner "] . * Wash your hair 3 times per week ( not once, as ever think used is natural) = i never see dandruff again. like your video, (Malaysia).tq

Victoria, please do the follow up video showing your how-to! For folks who feel baking soda is too harsh, in India they use ground chickpeas (garam flour) like we use baking soda (for nearly all cleaning tasks) which would definitely be more gentle. I have heard same but subbing in rye flour, too. Usually folks use water and 1 T. of baking soda dissolved, pour on head and massage vigorously. Rinse with water. Then likewise dillute 1 T. of Appke Cider vinegar in water, pour over head, massage and rinse. Over time it may be drying on the ends so adding an oil when styling or doing the monthly coconut oil masque may be beneficial. Would love to see what you do, how labor intensive it is, etc. Your hair looks great here.

Your hair looks beautiful! Really gives me hope. You made it 3 years. I tried before and couldn't get past the greasy phase but trying again now. My scalp is so sensitive to shampoo. I'd get bumps with puss, itchy, and dandruff. After day one of shampoo it would be oily. Recently, I used lemon and water to get rid of dandruff and after day two it worked. I am on day five now still no dandruff, no bumps, flakes or itching. Just a really greasy stage right now. Hope I can stick it out this time.

Victoria, Thanks for this. I love the fact that it may not work for everyone and I love the fact that you were brave enough to even tell your story. I have been no poo for almost a month now and it is amazing how shiny my hair has become. It's probably the natural oils finding their way to the end. I do use coconut oil on my hair once or twice a month so that maybe part of it and it takes a bit to get it all out but regardless I am seeing good results. Thanks for your message!

That is awesome! Thank you so much for your kind words and you are welcome! Give it a little more time too. It took me quite a while to get the extra oil worked out. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Blessings, Victoria

I wash my hair a couple of times a week right now. However, when I was shampooing I was only washing it once a week. I only wash in warm water. As for the coconut oil, I put it on the scalps as wells and the ends. I love the way it feels afterwards. I was doing once a week when I was shampooing but now that I am poo-free I've only done it once this month.

I would reccomend that you try to back down on how often you wash it. I am right now doing it every five days, but for a while I was washing once a week. It will be good for the overall longevity of your hair if you don't wash it so often. But of course it is up to you. I love the way a coconut hair mask feels too! So soft and silky! I'm going to try it now in quarantine. I already only wash my hair once a week with natural shampoo, so I think my hair can probably adjust to it. Thank you for this video! It was very helpful for me, especially the part about how no-poo method is not suited for everyone and it's ok. I have been washing my hair with only water for five and half months and I had higher expectations from it - I must wash my hair at least every second day, which is the same as with the shampoo for me. Also hairdresser said to me, that my hair doesn't look good and that I should do something with it. I will maybe try some other no-poo method or try to wash and massage my hair more properly with only water. I wish water only washing worked for me, but I don't want to damage my hair permanently. I appreciate your graceful attitude, thank you! God bless you.

I think it has less to do with how everyone is different, and more to do with water quality, and if theyre even doing it correctly. If theyre not doing it correctly, it can be harmful. If your doing it correctly and notice its not working and making things worse, its probably hard water, and you need to adjust your routine to fit hard water. And the other group of people may just be so accustomed to how shampoo and conditioner feels that they may dislike the feel of it in comparison. But i doubt the it doesnt work for some because of chemicals. It may take longer to transition. But yeah, there are just more factors than one thinks, and each routine may be different depending on the circumstances, so one cannot just copy someone elses routine.

I actually have never had healthier hair! I'm still going strong and it's been over ten years that I've been using baking soda. I only get my hair cut roughly every six months and my stylist is always telling me how healthy and strong it is! The baking soda itself is actually less toxic for you that most shampoos and conditioners believe it or not. Definitely check out my other video on my washing process! You don't scrub it through the ends of your hair, only the scalp and that could make a huge difference. Hope that helps!
@shenandoah7875 Жыл бұрын
@@VictoriaLynnauthor your reply was a pleasant surprise. I focused the baking soda wash at my scalp like you said and I was very pleased with the result. How often do you wash your hair? I have been interested in no poo for years and have made multiple attempts, but each time I try to go more than 4 days without using nothing but water my hair is disgusting. I could get used to washing with baking soda instead of shampoo, but I am wondering if it is just as stripping as shampoo and the effect is ultimately the same in terms of oil production? I would use google for all of these questions, but I can never find what I am after. 😂
@VictoriaLynnauthor Жыл бұрын
@@shenandoah7875 I currently go about 4-5 days between washes in the summer because I run outside and it tends to get dirty faster just from the sweat. In the winter I can usually make it a week, but the last few days will definitely be updos or braided. I always recommend stretching it a day at a time. If you can only go 4 days, try going 5 for a month, then stretch it to six for a month etc. The concept is you are actually training your scalp to produce the right amount of oils. It takes some time to accomplish that, especially if you are used to shampoo and conditioner. Your scalp is used to creating an excess because the shampoo and conditioner strip your hair of it's natural oils and replace it with synthetic. It just needs to get used to it so definitely be consistent for a month or so before you will probably notice a difference!
