You can tell the creator understood Vegeta on a deep level. He's always been about the pride of the saiyans, his personality in Z is due to an inferiority complex from Frieza making him a lap dog after blowing up his race. He has no reason to hate Goku or act undignified in this timeline.

nope gokus "SSJ" is on lvl with Vegeta because he is angry as seen in DBZ (AKA. canon) when it is your first transform and when you are seriously angry ( ssj 2 gohan vs cell) you are much stronger then normal transformation ( gohan vs kibito) as vegeta said ssj2 vs kibito was much weaker then vs cell, i dont have numbers from toriyama unfortunetly but i think gohan vs kibito is about as strong as Super Vegita vs perfect Cell in that saga

Even during that Ki charge up immediately after you see the overlap of the Monkey King on Vegeta for a split .25 seconds.

I feel like "Legend - a Dragon Ball Tale" is a lot more like a fantasy, closer to it's roots version of Dragon Ball. The Saiyan stuff feels more like science fantasy vs science fiction. I also think Frieza died some time ago. I think AF in this timeline means "After Frieza" it looks like Vegeta is a lot older than he would've been at this time but he still would've been like 23 or 24 anyways so I don't know. He had "super saiyan" as we would call pretty much on lock. If his father is Emperor Vegeta now, I'd image he unlocked it a while ago, and probably killed Frieza.

Yeah, the statue at the beginning shows King Vegeta standing on Frieza. And you're right about the fantasy elements. Based on what Vegeta said to Goku at the end, it seems like Saiyans in this timeline get their power from a "primal light" that is sealed away in their bodies, and they can tap into that light to harness it for their attacks and techniques. It would explain why Vegeta kept getting knocked out of his Super Saiyan state: it isn't a "transformation", he is actively using his light to augment his body, and it stops if he loses concentration. That's also why he would be able to create a sword: as far as I know, we've never seen anybody use ki for an ability like that in the regular timeline, but in this instance, he surrounds himself with his primal light, then fashions it into a weapon he can hold with his hands. It's a cool mixup of the formula. It reminds me of when comic book writers create alternate versions of superheroes, who have the same powers, but with altered origins.

I know this fan made short took 4 years to make this. But this is really mind blowing! A good combination of martial arts choreography of Dragon Ball and power ups/transformations from DBZ. I would say that they didn't remember because it wasn't 3 minutes of screaming, or action. I have had a few people trying to watch anime where there are whole episodes dedicated Exposition, world building, and lore, and they would be disinterested or fall asleep. But when screaming and fighting happens they are wide awake and paying attention. not saying everyone is like this. But I have met a lot of people who only watch anime for the fights not necessarily for the story.

The way I look at it, pride was all Vegeta had when he was enslaved by Frieza, which was a very key reason why his character was the way he was. Frieza was definitely racist against Saiyans, so the pride was probably a defense mechanism. This universe’s Vegeta developed differently in since, in this universe, that kind of slavery never happened.

Sun Wukong has the ability to pass knowledge on to others by touching their wrist. You can see that when Goku holds his hand up, a trail goes from his mouth to Vegeta's head, and THEN Vegeta begins the attack. Goku is letting Vegeta piggyback off his knowledge so they can combine their powers effectively.

This Vegeta is one that is untainted by Freeza’s genocide of his planet and subsequent slavery of himself, he still has a lot of pride in where he comes from, but there’s no real animosity towards Goku, and he’s always been pragmatic in his fights. Now his ego isn’t getting in the way. Because he dropped his violent impulses and channeled it into martial arts, he became a sincerely good kid. And because he was a good kid, pretty much every other opportunity to get stronger was his. It's was a classic talent vs friendship arrangement between those two.

@Lee Brown I just took a shot at Goku for using the Kamehameha, a simple move, most. The Sun Wu Kong thing true, but that's more of a racial trait as far as I understand. It's not Goku's personal talent so much as it is a genetic ability like the Ozaru. You could call it quality over quantity, but the conversation was never about power. It's about which character is more interesting or appealing. Vegeta and Piccolo coming up with more moves is just more engaging for me.
