That is what it was for me growing up eating frozen Brussels sprouts that had been boiled to death. Waterlogged, tasteless Brussels sprouts-turns my stomach just thinking about it. Then someone showed me how to roast them. Oh my goodness! They were fantastic! I now thoroughly enjoy Brussels sprouts either roasted or sautéed, or even sliced raw in salads.

As a Jamaican who grew up in a conscious Rastafarian home, I've never eaten an animal or most of these stuff I see everyone eating. Our traditions are called Ital livity, no animal products and no processed deadly 'foods' and sugar, we feed our body living energy (plants and ground provisions) as dead flesh/carcass drains our energy.. So I'm shocked sometimes when I see people say plant based is unhealthy and doesn't taste good because our foods are rich in taste, health and diversity etc etc Just season your food to liking and feed your temple. Blessed!

Most people's idea of veggies is limited, that's why they claim they hate veggies and that they don't have any idea what vegans eat. I bet they eat green beans, corn, broccoli, a plain salad, maybe a baked white potato. Soul food veggies are (of course) sweet potatoes, collard greens, and cabbage with greens and cabbage containing meat, fat, and bones "for flavor" which never made sense to me but that's usually a Southern US thing.

I respectfully disagree. Mentionning those issues every time we talk about a vegan diet tends to make people be defensive about their habits and they won't be as open to change if they feel like the content is a sermon. To a lot of people, there are the reasons to do it, but then there is daily life. If they end up stuck with no way of making it easy for them, and not even enjoying what they eat, they won't stick to a vegan diet. Showing people that it can be easy and tasty and everything you want it to be is really important because it can seem very intimidating and hard to follow when you don't know anything about plant based diets. I feel like dedicated videos about the ecological repercussions are more useful, and that those food videos just serve another purpose. Just my opinion though!

@@helianthe3457 I get what you're saying! I definitely think, though, that there is a lighthearted way to say, "Hey, while you're enjoying this delicious food, you're saving X amount of CO2 from entering the atmosphere." @Gabriel Leka Don't present your opinion as fact with like one vegan activist to back it up. He didn't prove anything, he just has the same opinion you have lol. It's still just that: an opinion. It's a conversation that is not black or white and that vegan activists are still having to this day. Some argue that on the contrary, your kind of activism just hurts the image of vegans in general, and I tend to agree. Veganism is not just about "being friend of the animals" or whatever, there are a lot of very serious ecological implications, and HUMAN suffering as well (people working in slaughter house are usually working in horrible conditions for example) to take intl account, and when you go off like that talking about being friends of animals or being truthful, you antagonize people instead of interesting them to your point of view. There is a difference between sharing a new lifestyle and being condescending to people.

One thing to try if you hate veggies is chop them up smaller so they are more incorporated with the other food you like rather than just a full bite of veggies. Season them and dont overcook them.

This is beyond pitiful for an adult to not like vegetables smh 🥴🤦🏽‍♀️

What is pitiful is judging people based on their tastes 🤦🏻‍♀️

I feel like the gentleman was more successful because he didn't try to primarily duplicate meat and dairy items with vegan substitutes, but actually explored more vegetable flavors

I love "Stuff I Eat"! The owner is such a beautiful kind-hearted woman and she looks amazing for her age. She's originally from Ohio and I was coincidentally visiting LA from Ohio. Seeing her and knowing about other vegan black woman who look half their age in their 60s helped me to see another benefit (The Fountain of Youth) to Veganism besides benefits like health, environmentalism, ethics, human rights, consumer rights, land rights, economics & systemic rights (like cheaper food by resolving food deserts, stopping corporate lobbying & subsidizies, breaking up monopolies/oligopolies/trust mergers), etc. The rabbit hole goes deep, but my improved skin is a plus while struggling in this crazy world.

Wow, it's almost like... vegan food isn't that hard. Yeah, traveling requires more planning, but even then, you figure it out pretty quickly.

Ellie Z. The only problem for me would be social and family life. And the fact that there aren’t many vegan alternatives where I live.
