Thanks a lot guys. I’m 14 and My coaches said to throw over the top and not side arm. But then once I switched my arm slot to over the top, I couldn’t even throw strikes and my rotator cuff started to hurt, so then I switched back to side arm and now I’m pounding the strike zone, and now my rotator cuff doesn’t hurt anymore and my arm feels awesome

Always get extra coaching if you are changing slot to make sure you are getting the mechanics right. I am not a tall guy but I do love the sidearm. Train hard do not be affraid to seek help.

Happened to me too. My last teM yelled at me about sidearm pitching so I tried overhand like I used to and my throws were garbage. So I went back to sidearm and now the can't hit my pitches lll😅@@Jesse_Cerv-Mont_07

My son was theowing 81 over the top at 14, he switched to sidearm and had good success. A coach tried to get him to go back and he didnt have the success he had before OR with his sidearm approach. He tried for several months and i told him to just fond a good sidearm coach and fo back. He now submarine slots at 81mph and is a go to pitcher for his travel ball and HS team.

I haven’t played for years but I had a similar experience. Coaches growing up telling me not to throw sidearm. Short and what have you. Finally at like 15 I just stopped fighting it and had a lot more success. I wasn’t elite or anything but definitely works for some people better.

oh i get it he's talking about "sidearm" pitchers like semi-submariners if you got true sidearm (as close to 0 degrees as possible) there will be no problems with rotation at all

I am 15 and 172cm tall I wanted to be a pitcher for my college and club team but I could barely throw any strikes. I tried doing sidearm in one of my college games and I got a perfect strike. So I started pitching sidearm and now I can throw perfect strikes and I toy with the batters because I know exactly where the ball is going.
@speedagar62926 жыл бұрын
What I am trying to say is to throw the ball how you feel comfortable throwing it.
@speedagar62925 жыл бұрын
@ I stopped playing after my college tournament and continued when my club game started. Which was like 2 months ago. Since I didn't throw any baseballs for like 7 months my throws weren't as accurate but after a week or two, they were back to normal. I recommend you let your kid try sidearm because it is much easier to control your throw while you are pitching. But just be careful because if he plays outfield there is no way he can get the ball from the outfield to home base with a sidearm or even to shortstop. So make sure he still throws regularly but only when he is pitching he can switch to sidearm. I haven't had any problems with throwing sidearm it is painful at first but it gets better after.

What about low 3/4. I’m not exactly sidearm but I get a lot of movement on my fastball. I’m almost a sinker pitcher. I’m about 6’ and I’m 190 lbs. any tips??

How do you throw the sinker as a 3/4 guy. My son is 14 and has an absolutely nasty slider and wants to combine it with a sinker. He’s right handed.

Hey any #pitchingtips for submarine pitchers? Is it ok to pitch submarine at 6 foot?
@UnleashedPhysique7 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Lepage being 6 foot is ok, I'm 6ft and I throw a true submarine where the hand is about 6 or 7 inches off the ground. The key is to have a lot of back muscle and be able to put as much leg force in as possible. It is hard to throw ur legs in cuz at one point you may get lazy and just use your arm, but your velocity will be extremely low.

Watched several pitching coaches move kids to sidearm because it's "easier on their arm". Seems like it would cause more arm stress since it so hard to use hips,shoulder rotation in that tilted position. Is that accurate? Thanks
@CoBeX318 жыл бұрын
It's easier on the shoulder because that's just how shoulders are made. Going over the top goes against your own anatomy. It's easier on the elbow because you don't get the "L", you don't have to throw your elbow into a position it's not made for. It's just the more natural way for your arm to move.
@TheRoadLessChosen2 жыл бұрын
Sons never had an issue. Says he doesn’t even feel his arm. His slider is filthy and he has movement on the fastball. Sidearm is actually safer.
