Awesome for the the price, i got mine for 1400 now with back light and surprisingly easy to ride with no support. 220 at 5'6" i went with the highstep since i planed to use it offroad as swell and on the lowest seat height i can barely fully plant my feet while standing over it. If you're unwilling to go over 2k and want a LEGAL ebike then its awesome

Nice review of what looks like an awesome bike. Battery and handlebars look exactly like the Ride1Up LMT'D. Hmmmmm. I think you can throw out the idea of being easy to select your bike. There are just so many to choose from. I bought mine and am happy.... but I made room for another if I decide to go completely bonkers! Thanks.

Good review. I was pushing for the Nomad 1 but the lack of integrated tail light was a DEAL BREAKER for my girlfriend who just dropped over $1700.00 for an Aventon Aventure 2 at our local bike shop. And I was completely dumbfounded that they used completely unbranded brakes when, for a few buck more, they should have gone with TEKTRO. Programmable PAS levels would have been great too, per the video. #GETITTOGETHERVELOTRIC

It was a local bike rental shop. I suppose the miles just got too high and they moved on. Ive ridden it a few hundred miles without a single issue @@mawarco7399

I don't see how that's possible, as their Discovery series HAS an integrated tail light but it's bulit into a light holder in the fender that's made for it, which the Nomad 1 doesn't have.

@@dp9324 I bought the light kit from velotric for 20 bucks. You have to drill holes to mount the light/ mount onto the rear fender then a wire on the underside of fender with provided cable gromets. The wire then leads to the control box where it just plugs in.

High torque, slightly lower top speed of 26mph, that's the way to me, the difference between dominating on the trails, or pavement princess.

I don’t like cruise control you can’t shut off. I just picked up the Nomad and it’s a really nice ride. ( note I bought it used. They had like 30 miles on it. Nice review

I've watched every video on this bike and no one talks about how SLOW Nomad 1 can go. Can I comfortably do 3 or 4 mph while holding my dog's leash? I do that every day on my nimble 20" ebike, but it doesn't like hills. I want to move up in size and power but not at the expense of being able to go slowly when I feel like it. Any thoughts?

As a rider who also uses bikes to walk my dog I can say, In your situation I would look for a bike with customizable pedal assist levels. The Nomad 1 that I tested did not have them, so the minimum speed in level 1 while pedaling may be too fast. You can however hold speeds below 5MPH with the throttle as explained here, 11:54

@@LAHover Thank you so much for your quick reply. Even though Nomad1 has no ability to adjust minimum speed, I'm still drawn to the over all quality of the bike. I noticed this evening biking with my dog that I mostly use the throttle at slow speeds to keep me moving, with an occasional 1/2 or even 1/4 peddle rotation. That small rotation keeps me moving but isn't quite enough to fully engage PAS. Do you think a 1/4 rotation on Nomad would be too abrupt or does it take more pedal power to kick it into PAS? Btw, congrats on finding that '44 wheat penny!

@@Tom-xn2gu If you are not holding the throttle yes. But if you are holding the throttle it will disable pedal assist and there will be no abrupt acceleration.

Before you buy you should check to see if there is a bike shop near you that will work on them. I have not found one. And the company doesn't really care.

That's a great point! I've found a LOT of bike shops that refuse to work on e-bikes that they do not sell, and that means you're going to have to be your own bike mechanic!

For the price of ebikes are crazy dear a gas powered bike is a better way to go iv had some ebikes one had a battery fire n the other had brake downs every week my gas bikes have had no things to worry about bar normal running fixes £1500 for 1 ebike is 3 gas bike setups good vid happy xmas n new year keep safe all 🚣🪂🚴‍♂️😃👍

If you're recommending gas-engines, you really don't get the whole concept of why electric is better. You can ride in 400% more places that you could with a gas engine!

@@dp9324 the way the law in uk is now ebikes gas or electric are not aloud on cycle paths or roads as cops are usen road traffic act 1988 to charge you iv just been to court for both my ebikes n i was charged with £520 fine and 1 year driven ban for usen my ebikes gas n electric

Iv had 2 ebike fires on electric ebikes due to usen ebike n charging ebike with battery fire n motor fire my gas ebikes iv never had bother apart from piston rings bustin after years of uses gas ebikes have more range n have more power over electric ebikes and a cheep gas ebike is £200

When i started usen ebikes over 35 years ago you only had gas ebikes electric ebikes only started in 2000 so 23 years n there still not as good as gas bikes

Bouchard's six grand bike blew its battery on the first 3 miles on the first run... Nah, I'm sticking with gasoline. Batteries are still toooo unreliable. Maybe in the future.

A reliable battery is a low power battery. With large numbers come large risks and the electric bikes are worse in that regard. An electrical fire is worse than fuel fire imo because water isn't effective.

Battery reliability is much more important than motor reliability. If the motor fails, it stops running. If a battery fails, it can burst and create a damaging fire. I have both gas bikes and homemade e bikes. They each have strengths.

Bouchard's video is epic I agree, but a UL certification is as good as it gets for a battery driven system if we're being honest. The same guys that run Velotric have background with LIME electric scooters which are used and abused by the public everywhere, so they have some experience in this arena.

Hard to trust a review from someone who doesn't have a proper saddle height lol... Plus the video author doesn't mention that they got the bike for free in the text description.
