My bosses wife is from Venezuela and she mails food and hygiene products down there. She has to mail two boxes with the same things in each box so her family gets one because customs will steal whatever they want. It's an unspoken rule if you give customs the same as you mail to your family your family will actually get it. Corruption at it's finest.

There are few to no consumer goods and necessities being produced as Chavez and Maduro confiscated and nationalized most industries. Further, since their crisis began, Maduro has imposed price-fixing, which of course means that commodities are scarce and sell out quickly. Since Maduro nationalized the assets of many international companies, few will conduct business with Venezuela.

To the ones that are saying why do they don't eat plants. They obviously eat plants, but... 1. Not everyone owns a farm. 2. It's very costly to produce agricultural consumables, specially with the high prices of water. 2.1. You need plenty of time and patience to harvest plants. (Months) 3. It's not accesible for everybody. 4. If you own a farm you obviously won't give free consumables to everybody (because of the high cost of the production) 5. Rotten meat is much more cheaper. 6. If you think this is that easy, just go to Venezuela and leave it by yourself. For the ones saying that way help a country that hate Americans... @Agustielle4 жыл бұрын
@Saymum Hassan Riad Yes, that is a very logical way of thinking. Nevertheless, you are ignoring the fact that most of the population in Venezuela could not receive proper education, let alone sex education... The country is very religious, therefore it might be considered as something "immoral" to teach the kids, but that really does not matter since the children are not learning anything at all, there is no time for learning when you are hungry. So, where am i going with this? Humans have instincts, reproduction is one of them. It is their nature to procreate and have children, that is literally what we were designed for, and with no education, you only have your impulses to listen to

@imadeanaccounttocomment78004 жыл бұрын
@Saymum Hassan Riad Setting aside the Traditions and Beliefs of carrying the bloodline , it is important to have Children’s in countries like this as they obviously don’t have a superannuation plan. This means if you don’t have kids nobody will take care of you when you are old and when you can’t work you starve to death. Combined with the significantly higher infant mortality rate it does make sense to have more than one child.

I am from Venezuela and this is true. I'm currently in the US with a student visa and have to mail my family a giant box with supplies every month. basic supplies thst every human should have access to like toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, cereal, canned foods. Chavez and Nicolas Maduro closed the private industry by nationalizing everything like in cuba by the excuse that they were killing the industry and now they neither produce or import anything. Any protest is responded by heavy fire using live rounds (I saw a friend of mine die by a glock bullet to his chest in a protest in Caracas, and during the last protests in 2017 60 students were killed in caracas alone by the police) and armed thugs tried to kidnapp me twice, hence why I escaped at the age of 19 y/o all by myself. Socialism doesn't work, and if you think any leftist government works feel free to visit Venezuela or Cuba anytime soon. oh and also the way Chavez destroyed our beautiful, rich country in less than 20 years was by dividing it into left and right... he turned all Venezuelans against themselves so you guys better watch out with Trump, as he posses many striking simmilarities with Chavez, including the extremism and dealing in totals, as well than trying to divide the American people with politics, which leads to crisis, and the number 1 factor: Corruption.

How would you feel if your life was dictated by someone else, and you can think or do anything for yourself? Facts are not what we think is truth, because there is such a thing as truth but since in the case of theism vs. Atheism, no one knows the truth, it's very inaccurate, and insensitive to tell other people that they are evil, sick, or undeserving of life. Actions and beliefs are product of free will, and humans themselves are intrinsically good and shouldn't face suffering, but do because of evil that has corrupted free will which is why things like these happen. Because of the ideas behind them. And even if there is no God as you claim, would that justified these actions either? Just asking,

Brad Viviviyal what you are talking about is social democracy where high taxes are used in free market society to pay for social bemefit systems. Democratic socialism is a form of socialist control economy where things are voted on. The difference between them is huge as the 1st is a system currently in use in the Nordic countries (for example in Finland where I live) but the 2nd is a more modern version of socialism. Taking us politics for example (where these 2 terms have sadly gotten mixed) Bernie Sanders is more in suport of social democracy while the democratic socialist of america are openly against free markest (with bringing end to them being part of their platform)
@rustyrebar96476 жыл бұрын

Bold of the americans in this comment section talking about how terrible socialism is, but you live in a democracy that's the richest country in all world and you still have hundreds of thousands in the streets, starving to death. Socialism is not the problem, democracy is not the problem, nor the solution. It's a conversation much deeper than that but saying "lmao where are the leftists now go to venezuela" is just easier, isn't it?
@MzEccentricAlien3 жыл бұрын
But how can you tell that everyone is American?
@haneul12713 жыл бұрын
In no moment I said "all", as you'll notice if you read my comment again. I said "bold of the americans" because quite a few ppl were directly quoting US politics, or Trump and so on, and I targeted those because I've been there precisely to study on the effects of pandemic in people living on the streets the past year, for a thesis in my graduation. So I'd say I've a bit of knowledge in this specific topic
@haneul12713 жыл бұрын
@Your Majesty, I do see where you're coming from, but you misunderstood my point. It is not comparable indeed. My particular point was on the demonization of socialism. If you scan the comments, too many people blame solely socialism for the situation the Venezuelans are in rn. But if hunger and bad politics and tyrants in power are exclusive of socialism... What's to say about all democracies around the world with thousands of people on the streets? I highlight the US bc they are considered the land of the free and a great democracy and the richest country in the world to top, but they still have homelessness issues. So the logic leap here is socialism is not the issue, but a much deeper and layered discussion. It frustrates me when a debate like this is dismissed like that. as for bold of me to assume there are hundreds of thousands in the streets, is not bold, is numbers. I can fetch you a couple sources if you'd like but should be easy enough to check on google
@haneul12713 жыл бұрын
@Your Majesty, the opinions I did dismiss were the ones of people not looking into it and just blaming all on socialism. I think everyone has a right to speak about it but I'd expect a minimum of research, instead of blind hatred for communism and socialism as I too often see, including in my own country. the unwillingness to study and understand this subject frustrates me to no end, but I do see how, for americans, it comes from their history. Doesn't excuse it, but I see. I'll learn some more about this, thanks for pointing that out
@haneul12713 жыл бұрын
@Your Majesty, also you're right about the homeless people does not equal people starving to death, not entirely at least. It just seemed almost a synonym to me but I should have worded better, I apologize

This is one mistake for Venezuela's government. They only focused on one source of income which is from crude oil. So, when the crude oil market goes down, Venezuela will automatically will be in crisis. I think their government should explore more of their "natural resources", so if one of them goes down, they'll still have backup and things like this won't happen.
@economicalovereem58335 жыл бұрын
You have a limited understanding of the situation. There were many industries in Venezuela, just like any other country. The government implemented extreme socialist policies until every single business got expropriated by the government or simply had to flee the country. All of that plus tons of corruption within government and military.
@mrbetabombs20175 жыл бұрын
The crisis happens not because of the price of the oil, but because of socialism, the government doesn't trade like a normal country, in socialism is believed that a country should produce everything by itself and stop relying on imports/exports. But there are other things that contribute to the crisis, like for example the fact that the government fought the inflation printing more money, the worst thing that you can do during inflation is to print more money, because the money lose it's value. And, of course, we have the corrupt politicians that steal their population through taxes.
