So fun. If I'm here I will walk all day in such water town. But living, I don't know how I get through. 🤷🏼♀️

It's not an everyday thing, a handful of times a year which is manageable

The water looks quite clean. Not like the canals in England. If the canal in England flooded you would want that out of your property ASAP
@alanjenko5554 жыл бұрын
the canals in Venice are far from clean. and a lot of them absolute stink because they are stagnant in the inner city canals

The water here looks black you can not see anything through it the water in Italy looks cleaner than some swimming pools

Look closer to see the floating dead rats in the canals and smell the horrible smell.

Either you lack the knowledge or you're just delusional but canals are, most of the time, just long stretches of stagnant water. In any country, anywhere. Canals are pretty dirty in general

This was during the virus when everyone was locked down. There was no canal traffic so the water restored itself.

You can buy it in Venice at the small markets, it’s about 10$

This flood is more a peak flood. With the new control gates flooding is less at peak. The flooding occurs over high tide then over half tide through low tide the water is gone. Don’t take the flood level in this vid as normal. I was in Venice October 2023 and the high tide flooding was only in St Marks Square and a little elsewhere

The commentary and responses indicate that this is usual and just a little irritating. It was at the beginning but it turned into a catastrophe. The warning sirens only had the usual 4 levels but didn’t have any to indicate the severity of the flooding so people were not prepared . I was there at this time and life was disrupted in a major way with many businesses out of action produce ruined schools flooded and closed, libraries and universities books and facilities destroyed( volunteers used wheelbarrows to carry ruined books etc to the barges for dumping, houses flooded which meant no electricity no cooking facilities etc. It was not an inconvenience it was an economic and social disaster from the highest floods in memory. St Marks and many historic buildings were damaged .

Venice canals are basically sea water since it’s literally built in a lagoon. It will be gross too if it is an inland flood
