Amazing to see the difference between the crowds on the main bridge, and then how you had it to yourself on the side streets!

Indeed LY&M, that's a good reason to love Venice, that there's always a quiet spot just around the corner.

Quite so BIAF, despite the fact that perversely we've only visited in the depths of misty winter and in the height of summer!

Hi, Italian here, thanks for the great vid, all you said is correct! And I'd like to share a couple of things for others to know before visiting our beautiful Venice: - indeed, steering clear of the most famous attractions of the city (Ponte Vecchio, Piazza San Marco,...) during rush hour is the best course of action, usually the best times to see them are at dusk or very early in the morning in order to avoid big crowds; however if one's not discouraged by those then any moment is plenty fine. Promenades are a great way to enjoy Venice, especially if you explore all the intricacy of its streets or just enjoy the view on Canal Grande, some times you may even get yourself the sight of historical ships there! - and yes, for those very places the high prices are somewhat of a meme to us Italians - no one sane of mind would go have, say, a coffee or a pizza in Piazza San Marco if not "for the experience", but always remember that in the city hidden somewhere in some little street (a "calla" as they're called) there's probably another that sells the same product at a far more reasonable price. And if you're not too keen on Italian cuisine rest assured there's plenty of boutiques, shops and fast food places to satiate even more international tastes. - not many people know or remember that Venice is built ON water inside a LAGOON, not on shore, hence why overcrowding IS a problem for the institutions to deal with; recently there's been the implementation of an "access tax" for the Old City, essentially a ticket for visiting to keep a better control of the tourist flux. For those booking a hotel in Venice it should be comprehended in the price of booking, while for those who want to do a "touch and go" trip they'd have to pay it separately. In all cases DO INFORM YOURSELF before coming to Venice on this. - yes, Venice's road are almost entirely (if not fore some very few exceptions) made of stones and there are bridges - sometimes with steps, other times very steep, to connect the canals from side to side - reason why people with accessibility problems might have a tougher time moving around, so do get informed and plan your visit thoroughly (regarding the tax of above, if I remember correctly if you have a certified disability and/or a caregiver coming with you, you may be exempt from said tax; to be sure CHECK IT OUT). But on the other side of the medal remember here in the old part of the city there are little to no vehicles, so walking around is much safer.

Thanks Yvonne & Mike ☺ That was epic! I simply ignored any content from Venice because I was under the impression that it was overcrowded, saturated & very expensive, but you've changed my mind by showcasing its beauty, with it being almost as lovely as the both of you! 😉 I thoroughly enjoyed that, more so with your narration Mike as it added the extra dimension which other walking tour channels lack, so more please! By the way inspired by you, Lottie has started her own walking tour channel & I've lent her my DJI Action 4 to do so, & you might see me in them in the far background as I partake in my cardio walks! www.youtube.com/@Walkwithlottie Have a truly beautiful week my friends now that summer has finally befallen us! 🤗🌞

You are a gentleman as always, young Rue. Thanks for the kind words. Great news about Lottie - it makes perfect sense, she has lots of opportunity to film while you're waxing lyrical on camera. We've just subbed and will watch a few videos in a bit...
