I like that the SWAT team isn't just a bunch of idiotic grunts, they're just insanely outmatched. Once they see the first flash grenade harm Venom, they're smart enough to keep using that tactic multiple times. But there's only so much you can do against an alien monster like that.

this not being rated R was the worst mistake of the movie, hate the hero trope of im incredibly evil however im just gonna knock around everyone trying to kill me instead of what a real being or human would do and defend you self brutally, guts and gore wouldve been completely covering the floor like fresh paint, and the every single one of those swat guys wouldve bailed and quit there jobs on the spot after seeing the first couple of guys get eviscerated immediately, no money will ever buy loyalty that strong, only pure conviction in your gonna try even if you suffer immensely, not even frontline hardened combat marines wouldve stayed to fuck around after the first few rounds did nothing and seeing bodies ripped apart

It's even worse if you know the lore. Symbiotes eat adrenaline, without adrenaline your body can't cope with stress and fails. Edie on the other hand has tumors in his adrenal glads causing them to constantly secrete adrenaline letting him host a symboite without ill effect. As a benefit Venome also eats his excess cancer cells. Without Venome all Edie has is undiagnosed terminal cancer.
