Carnage is usually well known as being so in sync with Cletus which adds to his level as a threat, but I guess since Shriek was obviously the plot device to defeat him they wanted to show Venom was better than Carnage.

Think the shriek char is a really lame take on the spiderman way of defeating venom with sound waves.. knew they would do this from 1st minute of the movie and couldnt keep watching for the life of me. I think it’s a combination of many things. Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch, He who remains died, if you saw What IF then you know, And Dr Strange with that spell.

It’s interesting how Venom said that the symbiotes have hive mind all across universes though, as in plural. So does that mean they’re aware of other symbiotes in the multiverse? This Venom is aware of Spidey’s crucial role in other Venoms’ lifes and that’s why Venom immediately shows an interest in MCU Peter?

can’t be doctor strange. the spell happens after far from home in winter as we saw in the no way home trailer, but the tv that venom and eddie are watching in the mid credits scene shows an interview w peter at the end of far from home as soon as his identity has been revealed. so peter wouldn’t have gone to see strange yet as that evidently happens a while after his identity is revealed. i think it’s a culmination of different events; sylvie killing he who remains in loki; wanda becoming the scarlet witch in wandavision; ultron transcending reality and space time in what if; or maybe even the watcher picking different heroes from each universe to form the guardians of the multiverse.

Lol I thought the Carnage Symbiote talked too much. His Symbiote rarely if ever talks in the comics because his Symbiote is basically just an extension of himself since Cletus' personality completely overtakes the Symbiote so I thought it was odd that not only did they give the Carnage Symbiote more of a voice but had them opposed to each other in some instances.

Yeah Venom was transported by Dr. Strange's spell. Venom was the 6th villian brought in by the spell, but for some reason he was transported to Mexixo or something and wasn't shown till the post credits, which at the end shows him getting transported back to his universe when Dr. Strange "reversed" the spell.

Like when they met in the church, that felt like their first meeting and then they'd fight and then develop and then return for a much bigger showdown but then it just ended. Carnage is a prime example of why you really couldn't get away with a PG-13 rating like you could with the first film He barely did much in the way of Carnage-y things and anytime they tried to be graphic they'd just do a cut-away right when it happens. That works for other stuff like Clone Wars since it's meant for all ages, but Carnage isn't an all-ages character. Even the '94 series seemed more relaxed by comparison and it was literally working with network restrictions The post-credits scene is cool but I really hope they save an actual Venom appearance for a future MCU Spider-Man film so we can get a proper Black Suit adaptation and this isn't just setting up MCU Peter in Venom 3 or Venom in No Way Home. I also hope Disney actually gets more leeway on the Spider-Man corner of the MCU by being able to seed symbiotes and supporting characters like Sable and Black Cat into the franchise, especially with Gorr the God Butcher being Love and Thunder's villain and his connections to Knull

I absolutely adored the 1st Venom movie. They didn't have an R rating sure, but I never expected Venom to be a gorefest. Shit, even Deadpool that is R relies more on its adult comedy than its gore and Logan whose only gore scenes had the reason to heighten the stakes, no gore for the sake or glorification of it. We don't really know what we want when we ask for an R rated hero. The problem with LTBC is that Cletus doesn't belong in this series. He is too serious for his own good when our last villain was evil Elon Musk, a villain so far-fetched and weird that it ended up working out due to how hilarious the concept and his flawed ideas were (Riot screwed it up tho)

Honestly the movie was ok but would’ve benefited if there was a stand alone Carnage movie before this movie that would give us more information about Cletus and maybe have shown his descent into madness or something. I’m kinda torn on this one. On one hand, this version of Venom clearly wasn’t meant to coexist with MCU Spiderman and I’m worried it’ll be super jarring when they meet and especially when they fight. On the other, Venom’s movies weren’t nearly good enough to survive on their own for long and this’ll probably breathe some extra life into the character.

I personally watched it for Eddie and Venom interactions and for an epic Venom vs Carnage fight which the movie did greatly. At the end of the day, it's about 2 gooey alien mosnters trying to kill each other people shouldn't expect a cinematic masterpiece from it lol My only complaint is that they killed off Carnage, one of the most popular Marvel villians and Venom's number 1 enemy, in just one movie. Although Carnage wasn't like his comic counterpart at all, I still enjoyed his character. I hope they bring him back

@@mawinstallation6626 They're not graphic as in showing it on the page, but he was a pretty twisted serial killer and then as Carnage he was even worse. One of the things that distinguished him from Venom was that while Venom learned to fight with fists and tendrils from bonding to Spiderman, Carnage used Cletus' memories of torturing his victims, and fought with massive blades and spikes, anything that would ruin flesh and spill blood. You have to understand that Carnage was written partly to compete with the success of Spawn and all of those gory nineties grimdark copycats.

I think that is a movie without ''act 2''. They did an ''ok'' job on act 1 introducing kletus, shriek (sort of) and showing us how venom and eddie are dealing with each other and then they just skip to act 3 to finish the movie. This movie could do very well with an middle arc showing us more of carnage and cletus bloodthirsty. For me the overall experience is just an 'ok', a fun to watch movie because it has good characters but really underdeveloped. There is no venom without spider-man at all and the whole concept of the character is very changed from what we deserve. Carnage was the chance to make it perfect but they couldn't give us a proper carnage/cletus. Maybe a pg18 movie would be the key but we will never know

I'm a huge fan of both Venom and Carnage in the comics, but I actually think Cletus Kasady can be a bit boring. He's just a very edgy serial killer character who revels in pain, suffering, and destruction for the fun of it; it's all there in the name, "carnage". So I think giving him something he cares about, ie Shriek, was a good move for making him a little more understandable and likable without betraying the heart of the character. He still wants to burn the world down, just with her by his side. Him being mad Eddie didn't understand or portray him as sympathetic because of his upbringing was also good, but a bit under baked. Could he have been a bit more intense and crazy? For sure. But we were never going to get a 'Seven' style depiction of Kasady; not after the first movie we got. It was a serious waste to kill him off at the end, even if it made sense story wise. They might rectify it with this universe jump, but that just makes it feel a little cheap. It'll be worth it if there's more Carnage, but still.

When it was first announced that venom would get his own movie, I personally believe the best idea that could’ve been done would be to have the plot be about Venom and Spider-man working together to take down Carnage. Maybe they have something like that in mind for a later movie. But I personally wish the first movie would’ve turned out that way. At the very least, they wouldn’t have had to take out the white spider symbol on Venom’s chest if Spider-man was in it to begin with.

I did enjoy this more than venom but I’d for sure lean more into making Carnage more of a presence. In a lot of ways, he’s marvel’s joker and you can’t downplay the insanity or the camp. I think the length of the film hurts the time it would take for character development. Also, Carnage is literally defined by how much of a perfect match he is with Cleatus, so it’s disappointing they didn’t really lean into carnage himself

I loved this movie. In the sense of looking at it Critically as a film in general, it wasn’t anything special. But as a Venom fanboy, I had the best time watching this. I think they portrayed Carnage and Venom from the comics very well-in an odd but entertaining way. Could have been better, but I wasn’t expecting a cinematic masterpiece anyway. It was exactly what I expected it to be and more, and with that I’m more than satisfied.

Personally I liked Let There Be Carnage over Venom. The story felt like it at least had a direction it wanted to go in, Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson were obviously having fun time, and I just liked the plot better this time around. I'm not saying this movie was a masterpiece, (my main complaint is it needed more carnage, literally and figuratively) but it's a perfectly serviceable B-movie. Despite a number of flaws I had a fun time, and in the end entertainment is the number one thing I want in a movie.

That whole scene at the end should pretty much be confirmation that he is showing up in No Way Home. Also as to if Venom did the dimension hopping, he says it wasn't him right after it happens so its safe to say it was likely due to what happens in Far From Home. I think you're overthinking it. They wouldn't have done this if Marvel wasn't on board, especially since Far from Home is incorporating other Sony Spider-Man movies.. They can't NOT have venom

The good thing about these movies isn't the story. Its the pseudo romance between Eddie and Venom. I could be happy with a 90 minute movie of them doing regular day chores like going to to supermarket etc I don't know if that's a praise or an indictment

One frustration was that there was no scene where Cletus is in bewilderment of the symbiote that’s now a part of him. He never questions it. He just walks out of the prison like it’s the 12th time he’s turned into a monster and slaughtered 2 dozen prison guards. Which would be fine if they were trying to say that Cletus and the symbiote are just that…symbiotic. But clearly that’s revealed to not be the case at the end of the film.

That scene where Cletus was talking about "you didn't tell them mommy and daddy were mean too meeeee nyehhhh" gave me the same visceral reaction I got from the Martha scene in BvS. It also made it abundantly clear that the script writers and cerkis have absolutely no idea what carnage is supposed to be. Which make me wonder if venom is so incredibly different not because they were brave enough to go off the beaten path, and more because they just threw the characters they thought worked onto Eddie and venom and it just happened to be glorious.

My favorite Carnage moment in all of comics is in the Axis event where he gets turned into a good guy. But he has no idea how to help people so there's this moment when he sets a bank on fire so bandits can't rob it. He thinks people are gonna praise him but instead they get rightfully mad, calling him out and he gets pretty bummed about it. Really wish this movie leaned into something like that. Not making Carnage a good guy or anything, but something as fun.

Am I the only one worried about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man’s future after No Way Home? If he ever comes face to face with his versions of Green Goblin, Doc Ock, or Venom none of their interactions will be special since he already fought versions of them before and he would already know what to expect. I personally enjoyed Harrelson's portrayal of Kasady. I can definitely see how one can make the argument that it was a littlehalf-assed or uninterested, but that's not really how I saw it. I like that they didn't make him an over-the-top homocidal maniac like we see in the comics, even if that would have been "truer to the character." He brought a more realistic depiction of a psychopath that could have been truly chilling if the tone was managed a little better, which I think also couldl have worked to make Carnage actually imposing.

In all honesty I didn’t really like that they made Cletus and Carnage argue. It just undercuts just why carnage is so dangerous and so popular and it does a real disservice to him as a character. Also I agree with most of your points but I wouldn’t really say flaws like how carnage turned out more than likely wasn’t the fault of Andy Serkis and more the fault of Sony pictures because Serkis and Hardy actually pushed for stuff like an R rating and probably a different version of carnage than the one we got but Arad and Pascal wouldn’t buckle and we got something undercooked.

Around 8:23 I doubt it was venom transporting Eddie to an alternate universe. He was actually going to show Eddie the symbiotes past and even possibly a glimpse of knull. It was most likely strange that did the alternate universe shift cuz of how toms spidey messing up stranges focus on creating the spell. I always felt that the theory of Venom bringing Eddie to an alternate universe dumb because he was just going to show Eddie what his hive is about. Venom even said that he didn’t do it when Eddie asked if it was him tampering with his surroundings so I don’t know where people got that theory from lol
