It has a little bit of dark humor, but it's mostly that unamusing "it's awkward and/or someone is a loser and this is taking way too long" humor that disneymarvel relies on. Plus, this is the most pansy iteration of Eddie I've ever seen, not to mention that he's going at it without anyone to even hate on or be personal against. The ONLY way this is could even hope to be better than Topher Grace as Venom is that Topher's career was spent as a joke. This iteration of Eddie isn't any better if we only pay attention to the writing, not the actor. Again, this Eddie isn't spiteful and the "simba yote" has no reason to cling to him. That said, he's not a venom to anyone. He's just a flat, violent hero that does what he wants (which sounds more like Deadpool than Venom). This is not at all what they should be doing. I'm glad Venom's finally getting a movie, but I'd like to be excited about it. I knew to keep my expectations low, though, after Sony got a bunch of advice from disneymarvel.

Saw this last night, and it was a ton of fun! Been a Venom fan since '88 and yeah it wasn't the entire package but that's Hollywood for ya. If you grew up reading Spidey thru the 80's n 90's there's loads of little nods throughout, Tom Hardy is awesome, Venom is hilarious, support the symbiotes people!

Okay so for those of you who don't know about the Klyntar, basically, (in comics) they are naturally peaceful and seek to find a host that is compatible in protecting the universe. After being betrayed by Peter Parker, the Venom symbiote goes to someone who has an equal amount of hate for Spiderman/Peter. That person just so happens to be Eddie Brock. After a while, Eddie finally gets separated from Venom and is put in prison where he meets is cell mate. Cletus Kasady, a murderer. After a little bit, venom breaks Eddie out of prison and leaves behind an offspring spore which attaches to Cletus and becomes Carnage (who is much stronger than venom) after a bunch if back and forth between Spiderman and Venom, something happens to Eddie and Venom is in government hands. Using white blood cells they turn venom white, making Anti-Venom. (Which btw is very insane and doesn't get hurt from the normal weaknesses of a symbiote; fire, sonic sounds, ect) He ends up becoming black again but during his timewith the government, they took offspring from Venom and created Toxin and some other new symbiotes. After a few more years of back and forth, Venom gets used as a weapon and is sedated into submission to be used on Flash Thompson who lost the use of his legs, creating Agent Venom. That's where I'm at in the storyline anyway
