The only refernce to Spider-Man in this movie is Cletus writing the letter, saying "Everyone needs an origin story," as he squashes a spider on his desk and eats it. Carnage being red and sound being a weakness of symbiotes are much, much older facts from the comics. Carnage is red because he was transmitted through blood, and symbiotes hate fire and sound because they were originally made to be weapons, in a forge, out in space (weakness to fire because they were molten, and weakness to sound because of the sound a hammer makes while striking hot steel)

I think what he meant was that red symbioses are the most dangerous ones of his species back on his planet. Also, I remember Venom saying that he was a loser on his planet and we could see that all he could make was a shield when he was fighting Riot, but if Venom was a loser, then how could he be the father of a red one? I like the details of the transformations between carnge and venom. Venom and eddie switching is so much smoother and pretty painless to look at showing how well they are connected. But with carnge and cletus its so much more violent to look at and it seems like carnge is fighting to take control. Showing how they aren't working that well togather.

I love how poetic the bell scene was. The Symbiotes are symbolically demons, and the sound of the church bell was casting them away. I also liked how Carnage did not waste time fucking around. Even in his first scene, he quickly identified the source of his weakness and destroyed it, and did the same with the bell once he had the right opportunity. Finally, Venom improvising by passing through Dan and Annie to save Eddie was pure brilliance.

"They're not a match" I sincerely dislike how they portrayed Carnage in this film. Carnage is Kasady as much as Kasady is Carnage. they are never "we". they are one. in a few comics it's shown that Kasady was so insane that the symbiote quite literally became him. (for example when the green goblin put on the symbiote and then thought he was Cletus) Plus the fact the film wasn't rated R was completely disrespectful to the character who is one of the most violently insane villains in the entire marvel universe. (yes, much worse than Thanos since even Thanos only wanted to remove half of everything)
