Well, to be fair, that's always been a concern and contention among many people notably Ross Perot in the early 90's who was warning about the economic consequences of NAFTA, among other things, when nobody was, and ran two third-party runs who actually got to be in the debates. Since I've been a teenager, it's been obvious the two-party system is a rigged system for the same interests. Jesse is a hero in his own right for ALWAYS talking about the inherent corruption of it and scared the shit out of the establishment by winning his own third-party race.

@Fuctmentality I have to disagree with you somewhat here. There was always a large antiwar crowd during Ws years. The financial crisis and the bailouts didn't happen until towards the end of Ws reign which is when the tea party movement began. Obamas massive bailouts, government take overs and the continuation of Ws policies is why the movement continues to grow.

Two parties is a function of the presidential system. You can only break them by going to a parliamentary system, which would require changing the constitution in ways that probably aren't going to happen. But I'd be all for it, particularly at the level of the states. It's more democratic.

@iqknowles, that would work, but much more slowly. I voted Republican because they are more brazen about being completely self-serving and totally blind to the national interests. Either way, all that needs to happen is the U.S. government's inability to field as many warships and soldiers as it currently can...namely in east asia. Once the U.S. 7th feet leaves, Japan will become a nuclear power, as will South Korea. Virtually every political scientist agress this will be disastrous.

Never going to happen? This country is sooo young compared to most of the world, and there have been fairly radical changes here + a civil war over the last 200 years. I was going to pass on voting today considering that there are no good, viable third parties. However, I went out and voted almost all Republican.....I want to contribute to the crumbling of this defunct system and voting Republican seems to be the quickest way to do it.
